Shield is one great melody. lyrics is quite different from what is being pushed out there in the industry. And written by a 12 years old is extra special. What did I do at 12? delivering newspapers, and trying to outrun pesky neighborhood dogs. So, I can say she is a music prodigy. Yeah we all hope to see more originals from her in the future. She speaks several languages, she writes her own music, she has written a book (about the meeting she had with a young girl that didn't have any shoes of her own and how Angelina then gave the girl her favorite shoes on the spot...), she has sung for kings and queens and Nobel prize winners and thru it all she has stayed grounded, humble and sweet. I can't wait for the first album she releases on her new label it's going to be epic...

Angelina just signed a deal with Republic Records as a highest priority new artist.

Songwriting is a separate, huge, god-given talent, and many great songwriters are not good singers. Singers don't need to write their own songs in my opinion. Sheild is a collaboration and it's excellent.

I understand she was 11 when she wrote this song and 12 when she recorded it. Also, she composed the music herself. I truly believe she’s a a World Megastar in the making. Thank you. Also, she wrote OSLO, I love this one too. And her (what I believe to be her first song) called WHAT IS LIFE. (The intro to this song says this one was one of her first songs written by her which leads me to believe she has others she has not recorded yet). Could you react to these? She was planning on recording in NY a new album of original music but because of the pandemic it’s been postponed until probably next year depending on if she can fly there). I'm glad you came back to comment on Angelina, King Family and in particular with an original. This is a very exceptional song, for the choice of musical style with a beautiful fusion of pop and jazz, for the lyrics, however well balanced and to finish because it was made by a 12 year old girl. The topic of the texts is certainly not what every twelve year old thinks, but instead it is natural for her to understand that she is still very young, even if unique, and therefore needs a shield, between her and the world, which can easily ruin her or destroy it, just as happened to many talented young artists, including those he admires, such as Avicii, Amy, Whitney. She has 5 original songs, 3 that she wrote and 2 were written for her. Of the 3 that she has written, this one is my favorite. But there's another one that slipped under the radar. Written by Baby Fuzz, she did a demo of it at age 10. Her family was not pleased with the lyrics at the end of the song, so it was never officially released. But someone "leaked" it about a year ago, and the family was not happy about that. However, it's out there now, and it's easily one of the very best things she has ever recorded. Myself and many others believe that had she officially released it as a single from an album, it would have soared to the top of the charts. You be the judge. I don't know about you all but I want more

When people list her originals, they always leave out the first full song whe wrote (reportedly in one day!) and recorded: "Back to Black" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LbXUKzOxACU.html when she was 10. Yes, the song was originally written by Amy Winehouse, but Angelina (the story goes) was prevented by her mother from singing Amy's lyrics (probably because she looked them up online and saw the "explicit" version of the song, whose lyrics are perhaps a bit much for even a 23-year-old to sing [grin] - but surely Angelina never heard that version of the song). Angelina was told she would have to rewrite the lyrics if she wanted to sing the song. Now, she could have easily just used the "clean" version with minor rewrites here and there, as she did later with "Rehab" and "I'm No Good". Instead, she _completely_ rewrote the song from scratch. Her version fits perfectly with the rhythm of the music and the general "feel" of much of what Amy sings (ignoring the actual words), but shares not a single line with the original lyrics. The most they have in common is the three-word phrase, "I love you", midway through the song. And even then, where Angelina sings "I love you so", Amy had sung "I love you much". So, my point is, Angelina's "Back to Black" is essentially a totally new song, written to existing music. Which I say "counts" as an "Angelina original" just as much as this one ("Shield") where she wrote the lyrics and then other musicians (working closely with her) composed the music. (But, I must add, with "Back to Black" there was the added "degree of difficulty" that she had to, as it were, "suggest" enough of the existing lyrics to "honor" the original and not seem like she was just "stealing" Amy's song for her own purposes. A tricky line to walk, to be sure. That she could do that so successfully - and in one day, and at the age of 10… well, that's just remarkable. For some indication as to how successful she was, I've seen reacters who claim to know the original song, who don't even mention in their reaction the minor detail that she's totally changed the lyrics. As if they didn't even realize! And to be fair, I was more or less in the same boat: I knew she had rewritten "some" of the lyrics, but it wasn't until I listened to it while reading along with Amy's lyrics that I realized what she'd done.) Anyway, so you should react to her cover of "Back to Black", is what Im saying. [grin] (To tell you the truth, there's actually something about her lyrics that bothers me, but there are other things in there that I think are pure genius. Literally: songwriting genius. I'll go into more detail when you do the reaction.)

The line "Forgive me for all that I am" always gets me when I hear her sing it. I mean, think about that: not forgive me for something I've done, or even something that I am, but forgive me for *all* that I am. Damn. That's rough. (Someone has given a plausible [secular] explanation for what she was referring to in that line. Perhaps they [or someone else] will post it here. Maybe they already have. I haven't read _all_ the other comments.)

I am aware of two other very young artists capable of writing profound and meaningful music. The first artist is Grace Vanderwaal. She wrote a song about depression called "Darkness Keeps Chasing Me" when she was 13 years old. Her studio version of the song is haunting, beautiful, sad, and uplifting.
