I used to think she worked on these songs for days, working out the arrangement & exactly how she will sing it. But it turns out I was wrong. According to Ivan Mendez, her guitarist in LA, from when she was 12-14 until she signed with Republic Records. He is playing for her in this & he said in an interview that they never preplan the songs. She just says "do you know this song?" If not, she gives him a few minutes to learn the chord changes while she looks up the lyrics on the phone. When they are ready, grandma Mery gets the videocam ready, then Angelina says "just follow me" & she wings it, making it up as she feels it. He said that if they did a 2nd take, it was because he made a mistake. Her Norway guitarist, Egil Clausen, from when she was 8-12 yo, has said the same thing. Of course her TV performances are well rehearsed, but the home videos like this are just "jamming!" The background video scenes are fan-added I can't imagine any other artist doing that & then posting it with all the "perfect imperfections.".

Chris, she is an accomplished artist and to suggest anything else is not recognizing her talent. You certainly do and I am so happy to see you react the way you have been doing. Yes, there is no question she is here to sing 'for us'. But, if you continue climbing the rungs on her ladder you can ask yourself the question, is she here for more than just to sing for us? I've enjoyed all of your Angelina reactions! One of her unique attributes is how she can sing a cover song, often better than the original artist, then immediately morph back into the child that she is. It's as if she gets transported to another realm to perform, then, when she's finished singing, returns to her physical body and says "Bye!" in her Earth voice.

There are 2 interviews that you might want to watch.One with this guitarist Ivan Mendez and the other guitarist from back in Norway Egil Claussen on Alan Papier's channel.The general process was they would discuss various songs,Angelina would choose one and they would do it in one or sometimes two takes.She really is that good.

I thought she sounded the most like Elvis on the chorus. He was an amazing gospel singer, and the first time I heard this, I thought of Elvis as she began the chorus. If you still haven’t seen her 4 performances on Norway’s Got Talent, this would be a good time to watch those. Enjoy!

She is 12 here, and the guitarist is probably Ivan Mendez. Hard to believe a 12 year old female can sing this low. She posted a short video on TikTok a few days ago (can't remember the song) where she was singing in her low register. Her control and pitch was Incredible. As a mature woman, she will have total control of her range, and her tone continues to get more desirable. Not that it's not already great, but it gets better and better. She got as low as a B2-C3. If that blew you away. She did her hair & clothes in the era of the song. She's singing this in a type of duet style, this will really blow your mind. Her range in this song gets down into the 2nd octave.

Angelina is learning both piano and guitar, but her guitar isn't quite at this level. Part of what makes Anhelina do fascinating is that she's perfectly imperfect, and appears to have no qualms about sharing unpolished works completed in one or two takes. Kudos.

She's learning. I think it's the same in "I'd Rather Go Blind". Both are well done. But it seems, it might be an experiment. This is the way you can learn. And it is pretty nice, that she show us this side of her. There are some other artists, they don't show there limit. - I have nothing (Whitney Houston) 2019 - 12 years old. It is the other side of her range, I think. - Million Miles (her own song) Dec 2020 - she wrote it for her grandfather. He died. It is very emotional. All of her own songs are very good. Having followed Angelina from one week after winning the NGT in 2014, I had this jaw-drop reaction on her 9yo Spell on You, which was only put out on RU-vid in early 2016 when she was 10. That year was when she really started performing, and using RU-vid to get out there. Then in 2017 (11yo) she did her first concert tour in Norway, 3 places, the last one being the best of them imo. Boris Palenovski (a huge early fan) was there, Prøysenfestivalen, to record it, and my favourite from there is Cry Me A River. Boris did remarkably well with minimal equipment, and has cleaned up most recordings from there. Going to his channel will definitely be worth your while. So, now I get real pleasure from watching others fall in love with this remarkable musician/artist/singer. Oh, and considering Ivan has chosen to follow another career path, his guitar is still my favourite for Angelina. He always accompanies her into her “world”. Love them both. If you’re going for Christmas songs, Mary’s Boy Child would be my choice from her 🎄🤱

You were right , this arrangement was based on Elvis Presley's version of the song. The reason Angelina can sing so low is because like only a very few singers she has a 4 octave range. The Barefoot Princess AKA the Angel with a 1,000 voices can sing any genre of music that she desires to because of her unusual multi octave range.

It's true that most of these recordings were done spontaneously. Two of the guitarists who accompanied her back then stated both in two separate interviews that Angelina would just ask them "hey, do you know this song?", if not, they would try and learn it on the spot and then record it in one/two takes. That's the spirit of Jazzers😄

I followed her for many years and slfo many reactors. I pay much attention to vocal teachers and vocal coaches who find this IMPOSSIBLE for such a young person. She is magical. And yes, she is a prodigy. I cd recommend It's A man's world. You have heard how low she can go. You can then hear how high she can go.

Hi Chris.. As Angelina fans, the one thing we love is to see reactors go through the same sense of wonderment at this young gir's voice. I've said this elsewhere, but it bears repeating: if I ever hear voicers in my head that no one else hears, then I want it to be hers. Chris, hi, A teacher from the music academy Oslo (AJ studied there since 4 years old) told , so I read, that they teach their students to deconstruct every song, before singing it. Keith here is correct about her spontaneous decisions about the songs. I believe, AJ can deconstruct a song in seconds. When you go over thousands of songs, you might sing, you get the exercise. So many of her homemade videos end with that bye at the end. I love it. If it's there it's homemade.i suggest going the a Freddy Mercury or Whitney Houston cover next to see her range.

Adressing something that you wondered about: I can't say for sure, but it does appear that she was being accompanied by a guitarist on her left (on our right, as we look at her), whom she glances at a couple of times. In the original video that this was based on, which was uploaded to her Fanclub Mosarz channel and then quickly taken down for some reason, she is seen in a box on the right side of the screen (with a little more of her visible than seen here), with lyrics on the left side of the screen. Based on what could be seen of the environment around her, it's obvious that this was done in the same room in which she did the handful covers with Ivan Mendez for her CoverChannel when she was 12 ("Million Years Ago", "Stay", etc.), as well as some other covers without him, including "Born to Die"). So I assume that she recorded this with Ivan when she was 12 (he said they only worked together for a short time), even though it wasn't posted until the very end of 2019, when she was 13. The main difference between this one and the rest of the covers she did sitting next to Ivan (besides the fact that he was cropped out of the video), is that their positions are switched from the way they usually did it: when he is seen, he's always on her right (our left), but here the guitarist seems to be on her left (our right). I'm not sure why they would have done it differently like this, unless maybe there was too much stuff in the room to allow for a nice visual of the two of them side by side (when she did "Dancing on My Own" in the same room in 2019, it was _chock full_ of equipment).

Her range is off the charts. And speaking of range. I've heard more women sing with low voices and I can be impressed by them. But there is something about the way Angelina sings, that it comes with so much warmth and integrity, you feel comforted, lifted up, wrapped around, understood ... you name it! Little mystery to me, everytime! This song is part of the Elvis covers, she has several and her vocal quality is surprising, the family came out to clarify that she was not Elvis Presley's granddaughter as rumored. In this song she shows her lowest range, the highest she showed with Whitney Houston, we hear that her vocal range does not reach and she must push the note.
