After putting off watching Angelina for ages due to her age (I kept thinking she's just a kid, how good can she be) I finally watched her singing this song. I was emotionally overwhelmed, at the end of the song I had a epiphany that I think I may just be watching the birth of one of the most soulful singers of our time. Not difficult for her at all to get in the business. After she won AGT Norway at 7-8 yrs old the family had business execs, producers and record labels out the wu-tang presenting her with suitcases of money turned them all down. Even turned down Disney, thank God, because her family is very protective of God's gift to humanity. They wanted Angelina to have a childhood and gave her time to tune her craft. There aren't words for this! "I Put a Spell On You" has been covered many times and is recognized as a classic, yet almost never is the tone of the original 1956 "Screamin" Jay Hawkins version captured. This is because Hawkins was the original shock-rock guy (think Ozzy Osbourne type craziness) and his style is difficult to emulate and also because his dated delivery is uncomfortable and stereotypical to our modern sensibilities. Yet Angelina respectfully sings his own song in a manner that exceeds his (Hawkin's image is on the candle she holds at the start of her video). You must go and listen to Hawkins' original (and throw in a couple of "famous" covers as well) to see the true genius in how AJ incorporates many of his vocal elements [usually omitted by most singers]. She has a catalogue of approximately 160 cover and original songs. She is singing here a year after winning Norway's Got Talent at age 8 with a stunning performance of Gershwin's "Summertime", a must see performance. As much as us AJ lunatics :) would love more a lot faster, her pace seems to be just right for her and her family. She has everything she needs and will never want for anything material the rest of her life. Her family has been making wise choices and I'm very glad they are. I've seen a reaction by a charming vocal coach that dissected this performance, even down to the crumpled notes Angelina is reading from and the pen keeps waving: Angelina, at the ripe old age of 9 years and 2 months, arranged this performance herself in honor of Screaming Jay Hawkins (the original artist), and did it well! We can see that the excellent musicians accompanying her are really enjoying themselves, as is the music director (briefly seen in the beginning of the video, smiling at the latest changes of Angelina's "wishes" as she calls her arrangements). Another great one from her as a Child. At age 6 her first time in a Professional recording studio she sang "I Who have Nothing" like Billy Holiday and Amy Winehouse came back and melded one girl. Now at 16 she is signed to her first record and her first two hits She wrote and arranged. "Million Miles" and "7th Heaven"

This is the most insane record that a young girl, not only arranged and sang to perfection at 9 years of age, but put it over like a mature jazz singer.

What folks tend to either other forget and newcomers may not know is that she's Norwegian and English is her 2nd language..which makes what she does even more incredible. She is 9 here.
