Your comments about culture and relationships has validity...albeit limited in scope. Technology has certainly inserted a buffer between boys and girls. But in the end most of life is concerned with interpersonal relationships. I consider the lyrics of this song an emotion-filled lament of the failure to communicate. In particular, "boys"...I was one once, and I have struggled over a period of 80 years to come to terms with communicating with "girls". We could have an extended discussion about the psycho/sociology history over the past century, but I think what is most important about this song, is Angelina's interpretation of the "lament", and in particular how "boys" don' t measure up when it comes to listening to their prospective partners. This is an old, but very valid lament. I think Angelina makes the point very well in her interpretation. For myself and other "boys" I regret having taken so long to recognize this. Angelina continues to challenge us to face into our emotional shortcomings...and her voice is irresistible and matchless in this.

This song was co-written by Toby Gad (the man at the piano), together with the artist that first performed it (BC Jean), before Beyoncé made it extremely popular. Toby is an incredible song writer, and back in 2014 he was ranked as the world's 3rd most successful song writer, having also co-written "All Of Me" by John Legend and the song "Big Girls Don't Cry" by Fergie, just to mention a few. The "Piano Diaries" is an album of his that just released, and on it he has invited different singers to sing rearranged versions of some of his most popular songs Toby and Angelina have also made at least ONE original together, called "Bad Valentine". That song will release in a couple of months. But they have been working quite a bit together already, and I am extremely hopeful that the two together can elevate Angelina's career to the next level. With the kind of voice and skills she possesses, all it takes is ONE song that will go viral, and the rest will be a done deal. I am absolutely positive that Angelina is the next superstar in the music industry. And as you can also see in THIS video, she will help put some class and elegance back into the biz as well.
