Glad to have you back on some Angelina, Nate! We understand about the blocking, it has happened to several different reaction channels now. The thing I don't really get is why some get blocked and others don't. There doesn't seem to be any logic behind it. I guess it's just the luck of the draw in the algorithms. Now that Angelina is signed under Republic Records, she and her management probably have less (if any) control over what gets blocked and what doesn't. Angelina did write this song herself, and she wrote it about her grandfather. You are right that there is some Adele influence in this (I thought the same of "Shield". If you told someone that Shield was an Adele song, they would likely believe you). Angelina has many musical influences, but if you look at her overall library, Adele is actually her most covered artist, so it would stand to reason that she will have some Adele sound in her own works. I'm not sure if Angelina is trying to make "the next big hit" with her music. If you look at the chart busting hits over the years, they are rarely anything that would be considered "fine art". I think Angelina is in it for the art, not the clicks or the status. I would much prefer that she makes the stuff that she connects with deeply, rather than the generic, stamped out stuff that tends to climb the charts. It is her connection to the songs she sings (covers or originals) that make her so captivating. People that make the chart toppers right out of the gate tend to have short lived success. Angelina is the kind of artist that has many decades of success in her future IMO.

Rusty, as someone who has listened to far more of Angelina's music than any other this past couple of years, may I take this opportunity to thank you for what you do in support of Angelina. I agree 100% with your third para above. Million Miles has special meaning and purpose for Angelina, but it also serves as another step along the way for a very young artist who is learning from every step she takes. My hope is to see her career take the path to her world, wherever that may be and in whatever way it evolves as time goes by. If only!

Here's some background on the song, its origin, and pay attention to the resume of the producers. This song is dedicated to Angelina's second grandpa who passed away last year, and all who have lost loved ones. On her Patreon page on Nov 16, 2020, Angelina wrote, “I created this song for everyone that has lost someone special, for me, this was to my grandpa that passed away last year in November.” Her other grandpa passed away in March 2018, and she dedicated “Always On My Mind” to him then. In the American Songwriter interview Angelina revealed how she felt while recording this song. “When I was in the booth, while I was singing, my tears were running,” she says. “To be honest, it was like a feeling of relief that all my feelings were written down and I felt relieved.” That speaks volumes about Angelina’s ability to transfer her emotions to her audience, who in turn will feel the same. What a beautiful gift to anyone who has grieved for the loss of a loved one. Most of us have not had to endure the loss of so many relatives, associates and friends that Angelina has at such a young age. Angelina is truly a gift to us all. Thanks for your reaction. (Link to interview: americansongwriter.com/million-miles-Angelina-Jordan-song-interview/) This song was recorded before she signed with Republic according to Angelina. One of the producers played the song for Republic founder and CEO Monte Lipman, and that’s when he said he wanted to sign Angelina. Stargate, the Norwegian producer duo based in Los Angeles (Tor Erik Hermansen and Mikkel Storleer Eriksen), has produced or written for Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, Lionel Richie, Wiz Khalifa, Britney Spears, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Selena Gomez, Rita Ora, Normani, Mis-Teeq, Celine Dion, Blue, Janet Jackson, Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, Sam Smith, Mary J. Blige, Ne-Yo, Katy Perry, Coldplay, Pink, Sia, Whitney Houston, Nas, Chris Brown, Khalid, Charli XCX, Trey Songz and others. They have been nominated for 17 Grammy’s and won 4. Quite a famous list of artists and recognition, which now includes the future legend Angelina Jordan.

Wow! Where did they dig you up, or more to the point why!. Oh well, it is what it is . Comments; your possibly right i in relation to it's success and we can all speculate as to her future but im content as to where she is right now. What please me is that she is an artist that creates performances that are coloured with her skill set. The creative side in using them the choices of emotion emitted the story tellijg, the ability to communicate, the fact that she is so gutsy & fearless yet relaxed, the playing with the notes around the prime one. Now the diversity of genre covered she just ignores convention & always a surprise direction or ending. Just for your own education listen to how great thou art, natural born woman & every time we say goodbye. I like surprises. Great to have you back nate ciao

Thanks Nate. Agreed that the copyright blocking stinks, but I appreciate your efforts none the less. As with any of us who have improved our skills and abilities over the years, undoubtably so will AJ - and as she’s so young and talented, I imagine a very bright future indeed. Thanks again for your reaction, and let’s all continue to enjoy her journey together!

As far as I understand it, Angelina is working on an album that's expected to be all originals. Holding my breath and waiting to see what else she can do as a songwriter. We know what she can do as a singer. Going to be an interesting release! Thanks for your interesting reaction that focused on her songwriting. Hope you do more AJ reactions.

The blocking is done by Universal Music Group (UMG), a German company with some key management in England. RU-vid uses a tool that makes a digital fingerprint of the original and scans other channels for matches. Details here: support.google.com/youtube/answer/7648743

Blocking really is stupid. I recently watched a rant from Rick Beato on his channel in which he makes basically the same points you made. I have to say, you won't get blocked on any The Warning song from their channel. And speaking of them and songwriting, I have long felt that there's music out there in the ethers, and all is chaos... and The Warning are a conduit that takes that chaos and channels it into great, original music. That's my take on it, anyway! (Also, see the comment that I just left on your "Survive" reaction.)

There have been tons of reactors who have reacted to "Million Miles" without being blocked. A few have and they edited their video in a way that they were able to get most of the video in. Selective blocking is worse than blocking everyone.

" I guess it's just the luck of the draw in the algorithms." Exactly. I have a friend who is a reactor with over 60k subs and he can attest to that, for a certainty. he did everything under the sun to avoid bocks, and it always varied day to day, song by song. Never the same.,

Also Norah Jones influence. I don't think this song needed a big hook. It was meant to be a tribute to her grandfather who passed away and was intended to be emotional and reflective. She did have a couple of belts in the song that were meant to be cries of emotion. But I personally think the way she structured and presented the song it was perfect for its intention. I'm sure there will be others on her album that will be different. If you listen to her original Shield, that has a hook with a lot of energy and is radio ready. She wrote it at 11 and performed at 12!

I would agree with you on the whole blocking thing, it's pointless. Why block what is essentially free publicity, makes no sense. You're right about crap like WAP, how people consider something like that to be music or talent is beyond my comprehension, pure garbage!

well, so many people are reacting to angelina jordan, dimash, jinjer. you know aurora from norway already, what a gem she is, of course. but here is another precious lady: "susanne sundfør - when the lord (official video)" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1oWFCkcdmZI.html this song is dedicated to lene marie fossen, who was an incredible INCREDIBLE photographer and wo suffered from anorexia since the age of ten. she wanted to stop time, to not grow into an andult. the song was the leading title for the documentary "selvportrett" and is the most heartbreaking song you might ever have listened to. susannes incredible voice and lenes portraits leave a everlasting picture. or this song, undercover live. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-A-uRyOu4YV4.html she should be world famous.

I dunno man. I lost the love for the reactions a bit. So many people out there doing reactions and they are so fake. I dont want to have to be that way to get viewers. I learned too that people also dont care much about me or my channel either, only the artist Im reacting to, which I understand, but it doesn't motivate me to make videos. Ive also been working on an album of my own, so much of my drive and motivation has been directed into that too

I agree with your rant against folks blocking the free promotions. I've been waiting (actually HOPING) that reactors would 'go on strike' and simply provide a speeded-up, blurred-out, audioless video IF AT ALL and just deliver their own facial and audio reactions. Simply refuse to promote the actual song or artist's performance. Yes, abrupt ending. I've been surprised by all 3 videos that they hacked it off, as if the parking meter ran out. I think the lyrics are odd in a couple of places. "Empty bubble to be thrown", for example... uh, what bubbles are NOT empty? Bubbles are blown, not thrown - that's the cliché. I first thought lyrics were misprinted and perhaps she was singing "Empty bottles to be thrown" which is what people have done with empty bottles. This could be a Norwegian not understanding English idioms... or perhaps in Norway, the idiom IS "empty bubble" and this is still a matter of misunderstood idioms. Easy to do. The overdubbed vocals following her soaring run was strange - because in live performance, I'd think she'd let her soaring moments soar and soar - not chop them off. But then again, I wouldn't have chopped off the end so abruptly.

The bubble lyric is quite clever. Angelina has exactly 9 syllables to express the desperate, maddening frustration and angst that comes with realizing you can't do anything about a situation, in this case, death. She could have said "like trying to push a rope uphill" but that's not very poetic, is it? A bubble can hardly be held, can it? Much less grasped, much less thrown. It is a heart wrenching seven words. Genius.
