She has become the best all-round singer in the world, period! 16 years old.

One of the things about her I find amazing is that she is fearlessly bold in her artistic choices, but always in an exceptionally well-measured manner... She never goes bat-shit crazy just to impress, she does color within the lines, but she is regularly playing with those lines, pushing them, transforming them.

This little gem surprised EVERYONE, Jazz pop, bluesy, she has no equal, great reaction as usual!

OMG I was shocked and overwhelmed. What was THAT? I knew neither the original singer Labrinth nor this song. I listened straight away. Was interesting but not my taste. Then I listened to Angelina's version again, I don't know how many times, her version blows my mind, WOW. This girl kills me, Angelina's courage, this self-confidence with this song to open her concert. Angelina shows right at the beginning of the concert what the audience can expect spectacular. 💯 *AJ* 💯

I'm with you Ellis. I would absolutely love to see Angelina just cut it loose and go full jam session some day with a song like this. I think it would be epic. I think she is on the verge of stepping out into something like that as she grows and gets more confident in "her sound" and really starts to realize herself how good she is. Hi Buddy - the guitarist did an amazing job on the 10th. I watched her do a 30 minute sound check but she didn't practice this - anyway, lots of her songs were changed when she sang them in concert. Just remember she is a 16 year old girl. Her stage presence and interaction with the audience were amazing. These videos, recorded on phones do not come close to how good she actually sounds live.

She's 16 .. THIS was her opening the door .. a little crack .. looking out .. being brave. This makes me think she will be doing this kind of pushing the envelope .. but she won't be going as crazy as you would .. yet .. but she is tasting it. YES! she is tasting it. She is right at the crossroads of getting introduced into the music business .. so it will be interesting to see how it will go. She is a strong woman and one who has her own mind. Well, I hear what you say about taking a risk.. Well, I had my expectations from what we have heard from her earlier, but when she came in with this she really blew my socks off. I stood near the loudspeakers and this recording did not catch the full force or impact it made live.. 🤯😊

Well I, for one, would miss you greatly. It is exactly your, off the wall, 'stream of consciousness approach' that I like. So however you want to deliver it, I am there. Now to Angelina, knowing everything you know about her, did you ever expect this?!! Yet, if you take time to really think out what she has done from start till now, it makes perfect sense. Her mind never rests. It is always exploring new things. Sounds she's never heard that interest her she rolls over and over in that brain and out comes genius. I tried listening to the profanity strewn original...and I really appreciate AJ's changing/substituting lyrics like those to something she's morally okay with, knowing its cleaned up version is a version that delivers the focus of the original song w/o being un-necessarily inappropriate for general audiences. I'd love to hear you accompany Angelina, Ellis. You're a creative thinker, and I like your ideas. Angelina is daring and always experimenting. She's tried so many different genres and is still evolving. Trust me, she'll blow the top off of this or another song soon. This shocked me when I first heard it! She is fearless! I could not believe my ears. I would say she stepped out of her box on this.. and will go even further as we go. I agree that the band was even tighter on the following concert overall (7/10/22), but I prefer this song from the 7th better. Angeliner has been there done that. Have a look at her first time in a recording studio when she was 6yo. She has been o satisfy her audience which, for some reason, are an older group. She is very young still so has plenty of time to explore different things.

Probably the first time she sang the song live, and didn't do it with the sound check (surprised the people hanging around). Hi , I believe you're spot on regarding her being in the box, even though it sounds amazing. I was there, about 7-8 meters away, and after the first shock, I could clearly see her reading the text while singing, which I felt limited her performance and her interaction with the musicians. So they might not have rehersed too much. It does not show on the video, so well spotted 👏 And yet she sounds so good, I can't even imagine how it will be when she really lets herself loose and go crazy 😊

I think you're wrong here. At least half the audience are old people, many of whom traveled a great distance to see her perform live. This song - as the first song of the show - I can guarantee you shocked the hell out them - in a very good way. This was not a song they've heard 1,000 times, or ever, and though it came in a 'box' they were familiar with, it wasn't what they were expecting at all. They loved it anyway 😎

Exactly, immediately thought about trading between the guitar and Angelina...that could be developed into something really interesting. Good artist always will push the boundaries of the lines, that is what makes them real artists long term, and Angelina is 16 here, no telling what exactly she will be doing in five years, except for that it will be even better. She will be a famous powerhouse.

Awesome warm up song to show how the show will go & it was awesome concert with 18 songs. React to more from her 3 concerts in Norway. 7-1-22 in Kurbadhagen, 7-7-22 at Kongsberg & 7-10-22 again at Kurbadhagen. Angie had a lot of fun & so did the fans. I would be very happy if you were right and Angelina would go crazy on this song. What she showed us here is just the tip of the iceberg. It was like one of her TikTok short take teasers. I want to see Angelina, unchained, in a full-on assault of this song. It's really not much of a song, in the Labrinth version. AJ could work real magic on it.

Ellis, just to say that I saw a video of the same song in a concert a few days later and the guitarist finally saw the light and interacted with her in a much tighter way. The two were responding to each other. It wasn't perfect but it was much better. I don't know how to rate these musicians. They might be very good but not tops, I don't know. I imagine a world class guitarist would have instinctively followed her invitation to dance with her but I could be wrong.

Haha, so that was…real. I could write an essay on your video snippet, but I’ll try not to. Yes, Angelina is cleaning up «ain’t got shit on me» here, while changing a kind of rap song into some dirty, greasy blues. Probably not because SHE is sixteen, but because her «angelic» fans don’t want her to grow up just yet. Out with her friends they most likely sound like drunken sailors, just like my teenage daughters, and Angelina has obviously been listening to some VERY grown-up music for many years already. After all, she did Amy Winehouse’s «Fade to Black» when she was ten. Check out the first two lines on that one (thank goodness she changed them for her video!). Otherwise…you are indeed out of your mind, and all the better for it. If there is ONE up-and-coming artist that is not constrained by the box, it is jazz/blues/pop/rock/RnB/gospel-singing Angelina. We never know wkat she is going to do next, only that it will most likely be amazing. But name almost any other young successful singer, and you’d be right. Angelina is definitely not playing it safe. What you saw here was her almost unrehearsed opening at a jazz festival in Norway, with her reading the lyrics and the guitarist doing a decent job, but missing the invitation for some good old call and response or dueling or whatchamacallit. I was at her concert three days later, and by then this song was MUCH tighter. It was a night of wonder, I promise you, a real love fest with the young queen ending the evening with tears of joy and a couple of thousand fans floating off into the cool Norwegian summer night - feeling for once that life is not vulgar and shitty and fucking awful part of the time, and sometimes more. But is it? Of course it is. I write serious books on serious topics for a living, and make a point of getting just a few ounces of swearing and vulgarity into even the “academic” ones, just to bring them closer to the experience of life as we all know it. But that is NOT the job of a sixteen year old phenomenon, even if she is ten years into her musical career. Give her another ten years, please. In the meantime, keep rambling on! You are not always right, but you are always interesting.
