She was 8 years old here. She was 7 when she auditioned, but had turned 8 for the rest of the show, which she won. She won 500,000 Kr., about $80,000 U.S. She gave most of it to charities but I believe she kept some to fund a couple of year's studio work with bands, including her cover of I Put a Spell On You at nine years old, which you will get to. That quiver is called vibrato or tremolo and she has always had the ability to tailor it. Here, it wavers very far from the note, up and down, quickly. In future recordings she does not use as much, nor as fast. She is very naturally talented but has also worked very hard for many years to perfect her singing. An easy way to pick up some Norwegian is using Duolingo. It is fun to learn other languages. It takes time but, you’ll be just fine! :-) I think you mean vibrato. Angelina has a wonderful vibrato and a very rich vocal toolbox in general and is able to use it at will. She was 8 here and this version is inspired by the version of Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong. Just after the second and high ‘Your daddy is rich’ you can hear her whisper a sentence Louis said to Ella. It is as if the song is running on a tape in her head: she seems to have a phonegraphic memory :-) Yes she is extremely talented and is also working very hard to get better and better. You could view that as ‘not fair’ but I rather look at it as it being inspiring to see her on her journey and growing in her artistry. It's called vibrato brother. And she was competing against adults as well as some kids. The other finalists were all adults and Angelina won with 46% of the votes. This was her 1st Masterpiece IMO. It was ethereal in places and pure Jazz in it's finest form from a child who had just turned 8 yrs old. We will be here for your journey. I'm loving your appreciation for our Barefoot Princess. It always gets me when she enters the second sequence. Her voice is so classic jazz that she can't be from this time. Btw - The prize money was in kroners, which gave her about $50,000. As her father is an oil industry upper level executive, they've traveled around the world, finally settling in the US. Not having any financial wants, it's likely that she gave her winnings into charities.
Angelina decides for herself. When it comes to the actual training and choice of songs etc., it has always been Angelina who made all the choices and decisions. Parents and others, on the other hand, have asked her to take it a little easier sometimes. Angelina is very special and her own driving force. Ever since she was 3-4 years old! Of course, all relatives and frends, have helped and protected her. Angelina and her closest, decided early on that she would have as normal a childhood as possible. Even when she won NGT, 8 years old, many wanted to sign a contract. Everyone was dismissed! Even Disney. And this Norwegian girl sings in English! Do you know that she speaks several languages. I just heard that bit @5:56 for the first time. Did you hear that? She pulls the mic away from her and sings in a murmuring voice for a couple seconds. I couldn’t understand it, but it felt like a subliminal. Amazing!
She's doing her version of an "ad lib" Louis Armstrong sang at that point in the song in the recording he made with Ella Fitzgerald for their joint album _Porgy & Bess_ in the late 1950s. It's pretty easy to find that version here on YT, so I won't bother linking to it. Louis' ad lib was something like, "Mmm-ba, don't you say, oh", and Angelina seems to be singing, "Don't you say, no".

Even at 8 yrs and 2 months old Angelina has complete control. She understands every single note, how to present herself on stage, knowing how to use a mic properly and making sure the trumpet player comes in at the right moment when you see her look over to him. You wondered how the other kids in the competition took it. The few who were there took it quite well. I think the adult participants struggled a bit more....
To be specific, though, the act that immediately followed her (the 10th and final act to perform) was called Juice Crew, a 4-member dance group aged 19 to 22 (in their auditions, anyway). It was their second run on the show after being eliminated in the semifinals in the previous season (which was won by a 17-year-old singer, BTW). The other acts competing against Angelina in the finals ranged from 12 to 31, including singers, dancers, a yo-yo trick artist, and a magician.

I never tire of hearing Angelina and this song She was competing with a mix of adults and older youth. 46 % of the vote out of the 10 finalists. I'm glad you're loving the rabbit hole. In a few days (January 2023), Angelina turns 17. She finishes school in the spring. And then....an album is expected in 2023. We know it will be good. We're hoping it is also smart.
