When my sister was very ill in hospital, a nurse told me he could see her guardian angel, standing by the bed. I talk to my angel daily and ask for help - or a sign that I am doing the right thing. I have had many synchronicities like that. Once, when I was feeling grumpy that I hadn't heard from my angel for days, I said aloud in my car, If you are really there, show me an owl. Now, I live in a city and it was the middle of the afternoon - traffic, noise etc. - how could it happen? Then I glanced up and a new cafe had opened, called the Owl's Nest - with a picture of an owl above the door. They have a sense of humour. Thank you Rupert. Superb, as usual.

Rudolph Steiner brings much clarity to the meaning of Michaelmas and explains it as follows as quoted in the RS Archive: Christmas needed the birth of the Christ; Easter, His death and resurrection. For Michaelmas, mankind carries on the Easter thought into his own soul. While Easter represents the death and resurrection of Christ; Michaelmas represents the reverse in mankind: the resurrection of Man’s own soul and then physical death.

Dear Rupert, My birthday is 9/22/57. It's always been a synchronistic period for me. Now this, on angels reminds me I almost died as well, at 13, from what killed Houdini. I was later able to paint murals of the molecules of penicillin that saved my life on the walls of the very Bio-plant from which they derived. Long story. May I just say that I do indeed know my Guardian Angels oh so well. Some, like you Rupert, are even on RU-vid. Peace.

I'm delighted to have found this channel. Ruperts views have long fascinated me; my intuition rings true to much of what he has to say. Michaelmas is my birthday. I have long been aware of what I interpret to be the actions and influence of 'my guardian angel'. Not being a dogmatic religious person, I am however open to the possibility of a greater 'universal' consciousness and derive comfort from the few, rare, but pervasive personal experiences I've had. Spookily I obtained a copy of Rupert's book, 'The Physics of Angels', just this week and look forward to reading it.

I wonder if people ever have dreams of 'mythical creatures' that they have not encountered within their society and up-bringing? That would point to them being 'real' in the objective way of residing within this imaginary consciousness. Thankyou for bringing this topic into more of the public domain Rupert x x x After many years of traditional meditation practice and during one sit I became enveloped in an offwhite cloak/robe of unbleached white wool, somehat coarse but extremely comfortable. Inside this was/is emptiness of form. I instinctively realised I had joined with the socalled white brotherhood, and that the cloak/robe was/is subtle form enclosing emptiness. The white brotherhood can be considered as, and indeed is, angelelic presence; and stand as a gateway into finer vibrational realms. For ten or more years now the emptiness and the cloak/robe remain undiminished, and though I do forget about it, it's only ever a fingersnap away ! It gives a clear perspective rather like a window on the world; and combined with everyday life, thought and feeling, makes for a lovely and insightful blend. And I've come to consider that it will now probably remain with me...

How do we talk about Mundo Imaginalis in a way, that our language will not stomp too heavily on those delicate substances? You are able to manage it somehow, Rupert Sheldrake, with your scholarship combined with pureness of soul and sometimes delicious British humour. Thank you for you being you!

Thank you Dr Sheldrake. Talking of wings though, I really love the angels' wings painted by the Northern Renaissance artists. I experience angels as messengers: hearing loving , guiding words sometimes for example. I had a dream of an angel during a time of sadness; I saw him and he embraced me . The love I felt from him was healing and unearthly. Not something one ever feels in this realm. He did not have wings. I just know it was true and real.

In the first one, after falling from a third floor balcony, I was 'caught' by wingless flying beings with mostly light where their faces were. I am so excited that this came across my feed being my favorite person speaking and my favorite day of the year. I named my son Michael. My archangel is Michael and September is my favorite month. What fun! Thank you Rupert for your undying wisdom. Angels in our subconscious are formed from an early age such as Ganesh must be for Hindus. Jung’s book on symbols explains a lot of it.

I highly recommend simply asking Michael for a small task.

Interesting topic. I looked into this around 2020 along with a good recipe for goose. I had some longing within me that I was needing to return to the land and seasons... my people were farmers once and I had planted a garden to cope with the stress of the pandemic. Also there's this... I know I have had many experiences including dreams where I have a guardian angel. The most horrible things I went thru, that should have killed me, can only be understood now that I have survived as being part of some higher plan where I get glimpses of my angel. I'm not part of any church who has a liturgy or celebration and just read a little about it. I'm down for Michaelmas because the goose was delicious and I was glad to still be alive thru the pandemic and know there's been many times something took over when I was under threat. The times they tried to "Cook my Goose" and failed seems only fitting now to honor my 😇 for the assistance as I expect they were working overtime on my behalf.

If you go with Rudolph Steiner and his Anthroposophy you get the latest "update" or revelation considered for our current era of humanity, you can find the most detailed description of angelology in his works and also Michaelmas which is the 2nd most important festivity right after Easter. Steiner gave his last speech at Michaelmas and was guided by Archangel Michael. Steiner was also Tomas Aquinas in one of his previous births/incarnation.

The Angels existed but of course academia will never accept such 'fairy tales'. I believe in fairies too though!

I'm 65 and have dreamed all my life of people, places, and things I've never seen before including beings and countrysides that are indescribable. I've come awake with names such as Agott, Nathar, and Desarda which I have never heard before in waking life. I spent what seemed like an entire night once as a young boy again playing in a field with God who came to me as a playful dog. I can't draw a stickman in waking life, yet I'm supposed to believe that I can create all these things in dreams and not even know that I've done it? Dreams and imagination belong to God, not man.

I have 4 university degrees including 2 in Engineering. Lorna Byrd is FABULOUS! I have loved her simplicity for years and her down-to-earth, real world quality with it. In my estimation, she is far above many “paranormal” academics. I have seen her in interview with 2 people who really SHOULD have appreciated her better, owing to their decades of honest, serious and open minded yet rigorous research… well I was sad to see them behaving nearly condescending to her less text-bookish or research-paper mode of communication. …. One question if i can ask, from a previous lecture, i have been so curious since you explained energy, what it is etc. At one point in the discussion you mentioned thermodynamic laws/the amount of energy in the universe does not change.....yet also, the universe is ever expanding therefore getting larger... that must certainly indicate that energy is being created, as space expands doesnt it? The 10 dogmas of science have for years been one of my favorite videos to show others, personally i remain convinced those 10 points, accompanied by basic or simplistic understanding of morphic resonance, will ultimatey and eventually be the kindof, inaguration of humanitys eventual collective awakening/and later & likewise the scientific reconciliation that embodys our evolved understanding. Rupert, what a fantastic video and talk. What I believe to be my angel, appeared to me in meditation (in my mind’s eye). It was female, an energy of light and love, I profoundly recognised them as someone I have known for eternity. It followed I felt a sorrow that I had missed them but happy to be reunited. It was a communication of unconditional love. We parted as I came out of my meditative state.

My First Waking Dream was being introduced to the Devine University. Long Dream & very detailed. This was after my NDE. During my NDE I met my passed Mother. ? The reality of the situation is that we hear about the genetic aberration that causes aliments. Progeria, for example. We hear less about those on the other side of the pendulum. Things that would be deemed super abilities compared to the average experiencer. These people exist and have different experiences and abilities as such. Furthermore, as we generate energy, measurably so. That energy can be manipulated through various means to increase the energy generated. In a way, we manifest through this energy, more so in collective collaboration, i.e., the process of prayer/meditation. Often directed, but many variables are present when delivering to the desired recipient. While this energy manifests in many ways. You create/fuel the entities you revere in such states. Or something like that.

Hi Rupert What if the very process of ‘seeking understanding via materialistic methods’ is in and of itself a potential block to true understanding? What if the realm of angels and imagination is naturally and absolutely impossible to truly express in any language and is always held almost ‘sacred’ in it’s realm of experience without proof? Rupert sheldrake if you read post about you, I want to thank you. You provided I new, more Western entry into the philosophy that I would believed in most of my life. Has that became competent in science And math, the dogma began to have it shipped back, I distrusted what I understood. Phenomenologically. I had been shut up for that by learning modern philosophical and mathematic ally like relativity😊 And quantum physics. I was told from the beginning that both of these were profoundly counterintuitive, with that mindset I pursued understanding them. It wasn't until I was 74 that I really had a felt sense of general relativity and special relatively. It is intuitive, it has rationality and geometry. You cannot bring into these feelings in 19th century concepts of ordered space and time. They are counterintuitive! Not modern physics, you can feel it. I moved to Angelica. Dualism is providing the most rigorous grounding in the large aligned I guess and idealism. I'm unsure about pantheism, it has logical problems, but it feels right. I will never again discount those internal feelings of Harmony when I get them.

Thanks Rupert. I'm one who wants to know, not merely believe in, angels. Belief in something is like a subscription to the plausible and possible: but Direct Experience frees one from any doubts. If there's a way to know angels , & not merely believe in them, let me know how. If that includes some of areas of Merlin's 🍄 expertise, that's quite OK.

Ive seen angels a few times. Once I was taking care of a farm in the south of France and it was the middle of the night I woke up to pee in a pitch black room and saw one hovering over me, she was plump and feminine and rose when she saw me looking at her, saw one on my friends farm in Sussex also middle of night pitch black this time it was more masculine looking with a quizzical face. Another time going to bed in Sicily at a rainbow gathering I saw one on the horizon with a rainbow body. And once I was feeling suicidal and yhinking of jumping off a bridge on the way to work and a Buddha appeared. All four times I was sober. Once I saw gremlins, they were just sitting chatting. It was weird.

Michael Newton's research indicates that all souls appear as light with different color on the other side if they don’t consciously wants to appear in a certain way, like as Ganesha for the indian who would expect such a deity from his cultural upbringing or as an angel or Jesus for us westeners. The other side is a multidimensional area, giving much more possibilities than what we can imagine in our limited three dimensional world.

Paramahansa Yogananda says in his little book, How You Can Talk With God, that God will communicate with you in a way that you are familiar. Angels or "celestial energies" are said to be God's orchestrators. It is fascinating that some of heaven's communication comes in visions and internal and external locations. Christians experience Christian visions and locations, Hindus experience Hindu visions and locations, Muslims experience Muslim visions and locations, etc. Teresa of Avila talks about intellectual locations where certain thoughts and answers come to us. I believe people receive intellectual locations all of the time but doubt them much of the time. Nicholous Black Elk, who is being considered one of the greatest mystics in the last 200 years, had unifying dreams connecting everyone and everything with Thunder Beings when he was in a coma at nine years old.

I saw you in Ireland, KIllarney, in the 90's, talking about morphic resonance, during a Holotropic Breathwork week run by "the Godfather of LSD" Stan Grof - I was training with him. I have experienced the things you and he talk about, especially angels and devils. I also have the text of Paradise Lost on my lap as you are mentioning it in your video. I clicked on your video just minutes ago. I wasn't going to look at your video, I did not recognise you or see your name when I clicked on the video, but for some reason I thought that I would miss a synchronicity if I didn't. So I did. I am also a philosopher and as philosophers are renown for, annoyingly, taking issue with our use of language then I have to draw attention to your use of the word "imagination". I did not, in honesty, know what you meant by this word in the context you used it. It's like an underprivileged sibling of plain old awareness and ideas, with unfortunate overtones of the popular psycho-rationalisations and pseudo-explanations of the 50's - "it's all in your imagination". What would your talk look like if you did not use this historically burdened term? Imagination, I think, simply means the ability to create novel, everyday ideas. The old psychologists invented a new disease or wonderful ability called "imagination", attributing powers to it that belong more in old psychology-influenced b and w horror movies than human experience. You were right, by the way, to use the term "visionary" and not "hallucinatory" , which is a distinction highlighted by Grof, a distinction that fortunately both of us have picked up from that interesting era. Grof is still alive. Here in South Wales UK we ran Holotropic Breathwork sessions 20 years ago, and didn't charge anyone except to cover room hire. We learnt a lot that mainstream doesn't acknowledge.

I'm beginning to think that Rupert is, like Eno, an E.T.

Materialists seem to follow the implicit biases left by Freud and the behaviorist school of psychology which dismisses dreams as "day residues," but this carries the obvious problem that it doesn't explain the structure of the experiences. Whether experiences of angels are in any objective sense real or not, why are there commonalitites across the dreams? Why do people'smind implicitly arrange their day residues in patterns of such striking regularity? Why do conspiracy theorists, who could not possibly have communicated with each other, always settle upon the same universal themes of a shadowy organization trapping humanity in a Truman Show reality built to obscure the actual state of affairs save from the brave few who realize that the pyramids could not have been fashioned by bronze age tools? Why do all cultures of the world assign magical properties to stones and minerals, particularly ones that serve no practical function? The process is clearly chaotic, but not arbitrary. That is the very empirical and scientific question that Jung's depth psychology set out to answer and the answer is the entirely reasonable observation that human beings have innate instincts which lead them to not only develop physically in consistent ways, but psychologically and these consistencies where dubbed "archetypes." I should think such a hypothesis is farily incontrovertible even by materialist standards. Where the adcademic community starts to split with Jung is when he begins to contemplate the possible implications of this psycholocial collectivity: what if every human being is a node in a species-wide collective mind with processes beyond conscious scrutiny? If the neurological internet decided that Josph would just happen to decide to go for a walk at exactly the same time Jane did as an unconscious whim and this caused them to meet and fall in love, from the perspective of the individuals involved, this would have seemed like fate or an act of God. For all their capacity to influence the outcome, it would be just that. To clarifiy, I'm not suggesting that any action at a distance is occuring. You and I engage in unconscious activity all the time. How do you know your choice to scratch your nose isn't a signal on the part of your unconscious mind to the person next to you to release a pheromone, which in turn signals the next person to perform another unconscious signal and so on? You can't be aware of this by definition. If we suppose all that is the case, then it opens up a whole host of questions. Something like astrology, even if it doesn't actually involve the planets directly influencing our lives, could be true. The regular motion of the planets could be an internal clock the collective neural internet uses to regulate itself the way pidgeons use the electromagnetic field of the Earth to navigate. Everything that human beings do and beileve, however autre and opaque, has to be re-evaluated, and that's more or less what Jung did with his investigations into the occult. Suddenly, there are no nonsensical beilefs. Angels don't have to physically exist to influence our lives. No society would hold to a truely worthless belief and indeed, societies discard beliefs as soon as they lose their sustaining power. The image of the angel may not be inaccurate -- such is not the burden of a psychic fact one way or the other as they require no proof -- but they may becoem unemployed because their presence no longer serve the psycholgical ecology of the culture. Matrialism has come about for a reason and for that same fact it will one day depart.
