My female friends on brain meds have all become New Agey. As kids, i was the hippie type, but i grew out of it. I also refused antidepressants from a therapist i was forced to see for cutting school. In hindsight, being "bad" served me well.

I agree with much of what you say in this video, but find your apparent conviction that there is "one true religion" to be at odds with your otherwise rational takes. All authentic religions are equally wrong and equally right fossilizations of the personalized _and ineffable_ experiences of mystics with the divine. If you want the "truth" then become a mystic yourself, and you will see what God wants you to see.

Some friendly feedback from a full-time mystic-recluse of ten years: I find much of your argument presented in this video compelling, but your persuasiveness drops off (for me) when you start talking about mysticism, because it's not something which can be understood intellectually, which is what it seems to me you're trying to do. All religions are wrong in the sense that they're trying to put into words something _fundamentally ineffable_ , and all are right in the sense that they were (when authentic) genuine revelations to mystics which were _considered by God_ to be appropriate for the cultural context. That said, you are imo completely correct when you say (more or less) that there is a force which pushes us towards materialism (both metaphysical and ethical), which we can choose to overcome either by _actually living_ according to the strictures of an authentic exoteric religion, or by becoming esoteric mystics ourselves. One can read all the books about mysticism in the world--including those written by mystics, and this very comment!--but one will never understand it intellectually, never be able correctly to express what is experienced in words, because language is, in Iain McGilchrist's words, "making the uncommon common", and personal revelations from the divine cannot be common by definition; and human languages are comically inadequate for anything other than their intended task, which is communicating about Earthly matters. It's interesting that MK Ultra etc. is obviously a corruption of the universal mystical goal of controlling one's _own_ mind, it being one's "interface with God" (or "God itself", or any other words which attempt to describe something indescribable). He or she who takes full control of his or her own mind inevitably meets God, and those humans who attempt to control the minds of others are unholy by definition.
