No crampons, no ice axes, no climbing gear (like the ability to clip into the chains, no rope or gear to belay each other) shoes that are little more than sneakers, bet there there was no warm gear in case you got stranded by injury or weather...and probably no rescue beacon or headlamps to aid in a rescue. CONGRATULATIONS! Your "high fives" should be for the fact that you checked just about every single box of "WHAT NOT TO DO ON A HIKE IN THE WINTER"! And thanks for making a great training film for the rest of us.

Actually no crampons and ice axe would be pointless and dangerous... Crampons are for hard ice/snow.. Here we see snow and rock.. Crampons on rock are dangerous.. Inner step spikes are what's needed.. Next an ice axe is for aiding pulling and support in deep packed icy snow or ice.. They also serve to act as an arrester on steep packed slopes.. Here we have neither and no ice axe will stop you on a vertical fall like the drops here..

@@carsonjohnson2039 Take it from someone age 71 (who USED TO BE stupid) that your big cajones kill you if your prefrontal cortex is not engaged to tell the difference between skill (like Alex Honnold - who free soled El Capitan in Yosemite) and your stupidity. I used to be stupid in mountain climbing, cars and airplanes. The older you get you realize how stupid and foolish you were to dance in the jaws of death. When you do what you did, eventually your number WILL come up (Like it did for Dean Potter and countless others) like my nephew who got his ticket punched at age 21. He had 700 show up at his funeral and his friends blabbered on about how "they would never forget him"...they put up website and all the rest. 15 year years later the website is down and they've all forgotten about him. It's your choice whether you want to make your mother cry.

Wouldn't have been that hard to make this safer. Microspikes, rock climbing harness, and a couple of rock climbing and anchors and carabiners - you clip in as you go along (only unclip first anchor from one section after you clip the second anchor to the next section). Bare minimum you could buy a few meters of rock climbing rope, and just two carabiners and that would work (you can make a harness out of just rope). I think if you can go hiking in zion you can probably afford this bit a gear that would last several years. You might not mind the risk so much, but it's so inconsiderate to the people who love you and might be crushed by your death or life changing injury. Also there are people who would have to go out there and recover a mangled dead body - not nice stuff. Glad you guys were okay and I bet you're safer these days

Stupid to go up there in those conditions. IMHO

A comma in the title would have been helpful. We're you saying that angels were landing near a person dying or were you saying that you experienced a near death situation where you saw angels coming near?

Why? Seriously. Why? Not enough risks in suburbia?

I almost couldn't finish watching this video. I hope they made it down ok. Descending a climb like that would be much harder I think. Up or down, either way looks like a death wish.

I have no idea why you did this in winter. But I really want to say some thing positive and appreciate your sharing.

I don't get it, even with good conditions, why, I mean if you get a dizzy spell or chain snaps, I'm an adrenaline guy but one wrong step, experienced people fall and anyone can walk up there?
@alecdawg11
@alecdawg11 2 года назад
Do some people just not get vertigo? If I looked down from those heights, I'd get dizzy and my hands would start sweating profusely and there's no way I'd be able to keep going. Congrats on making it out of this alive. That's a story I'll never be able to tell. Hopefully this is your last attempt at a Darwin Award though lol

I honestly do, but seeing the responses about people saying it's not as difficult as it seems makes me want to try. I've never hiked in my life before. Maybe I could try easy ones first.

@@MrBunny53 Where are people saying it's not as difficult as it seems? Are we commenting on the same video? Lol. I have hiked before, and I would never try this one. I get vertigo way too bad, and I don't know if I could work my way up to a hike like this.

Just another example of why they send young men to war. They just can't figure out some things are dangerous. 1:49 is just on the edge of being someone that has no brains what so ever. Nor do they think of others.

How about 6:28 also. That part made me cringe with anxiety. And if the guy on top went they could all have been going down. 1:49 was definitely a near miss too. The entire video their lives were hanging by a thread.
