Here I am coming out of the body shop to learn sneaker customs as a hobby and I'm finding the prep work to be similar to how you would prep for a vehicle to be spray painted. Body shop experience helps a lot with this line of work.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge so openly! I pretty much binged all your videos in a few days, and I've used so many of your tips - it's made my work so much better in such a short time, thank youuuu! :)
could you do a video on how to know when youve sanded your shoes enough before customizing!? would be extremely helpful all your other videos have already been so much help , your work is amazing and your tips are great ! 🙏🏻
Mooka Myles in The Netherlands it’s €120,- for 12 little bottles of 18ml, so ‘it’s just 6 dollars’ is bullshit to say, because A) you didn’t even specify WHAT costs 6 dollars, and B) like this person said, they’re not from the US. BUT @ V A N I L L A you don’t need the best of the best for practicing, use old shoes and use acrylics mixed with water and practice, but mostly, practice a steady hand and painting teeny tiny things, because idk if you wanna just throw on colours on the shoes, or make some detailed designs, but you’ll need a steady hand for both, even when you’re ‘just’ throwing colours on, you will need to paint the sides of the panels (like the sides of the Nike Swoosh), and you’ll either need a steady hand or be able to tape really well, so until you get the money to get you started, you can practice that. Something you can also do is as a bottle (small or big) of paint for your birthday, graduation, anything where you would normally get money or gifts. You have a no, but there’s a chance at a yes, and even if you only end up with one or two colours, you can practice how to use them. I just bought my first set last week (hence the pricing above^), and they work similar to watered down acrylics). Also practice on regular canvas, hard plastics (like water bottles or something), pillow cases, jackets, jeans, etc. etc. I am still a beginner with Angelus paint but if you want more tips to try and copy it (with acrylics for example) then DM me on @alex_linders_art on instagram
Last week I finished my first pair of AF1's and I wore them for a couple of days to test the durability. The creasing on the toe box is already removing the paint a little bit. I did al the necessary prepwork and followed the steps from your cleat video's. How can I keep this form happening and make the shoes more durable in the future?. The only thing I did differently is that I sanded the shoes by hand because the detail sander was messing up the stitching on the swoosh. Love the video's, they have really helped me a lot!
If possible first and foremost avoid painting areas where you’re more likely to have creasing such as toe boxes... or potentially allow those to be areas where you’re doing less layers of full paint, such as a splatter panel or light texturing.. this isn’t always possible with every design but in those cases you really wanna take the time to sand those areas where the creasing will occur even more thoroughly and perhaps even dye them underneath the paint
I’m having a problem painting fabric. I have these black vans I’m using to experiment. I ordered Angelus flat black paint and 2 soft and I ordered Angelus Black dye. I’m trying to paint my shoe and not only look like it was fresh out the factory but I also want to feel the fabric I want to feel like there is no paint on there is that even possible when using paint and 2 soft? Because when I use the black dye on the other shoe it looks news and I can feel the fabric like nothing is even on there but when I use paint the feeling is just gone
I always hear you saying "scuff them up" but I have no idea how to scuff them up, which specific materials need to be scuffed and how much scuff is enough. Video maybe?
I think this video or our gucci cleats video would help too... to scuff em up real good you’re gunna want to use scotch brite pads ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9LhAw1xmi6Q.html
Really depends on the look you’re going for. To be honest it’s hard to do a true chrome, the closest you’ll typically see is a metallic silver with a high gloss. But that won’t have a mirror finish
where i live the sell jacquard paint would love to buy angelus but we dont have them where i live is jacquard ok to use to paint leather shoes want to re do the white on my celtic nike dunks
Check out our more recent Air Force 1 custom video... there’s no direct look or feel since every single pair of shoes will react differently (literally one pair containing 2 shoes can have a different reaction) it’s all about taking the right amount of time to actually do the sanding process
Wow! I really wasn't expecting a reply!!! I am such a fan of your custom work. You inspired me to explore my creative side. I just recently started customizing shoes and for someone like me who can't really draw or paint your videos are very helpful! Keep up the great artwork and thanks for all you do!
Couldn’t disagree more, angelus is run by a fabulous team of very helpful people. Responding to anybody and everybody with any questions they may have very promptly. And becoming a sponsored artist is one of the best things that’s ever happened to us.
My opimion is jacquard has the better paint for airbrushing, no 2thin or 2 hard.. with angelus i have alot of peeling amd cracking not just on plastic parts!
I’ve done this! But none of them (friends and family) wanted to wear them by fear to break them and put them up on the shelf as art. And im like I WANT YOU TO WEAR THEM!!!! 😂 Love your video!
I'm just a newbie to customizing and love watching your vids, as they are so informative. If i end up half as good as you, i'll be doing just fine 😉 Keep up the good work 👍
Really Great Video!! One thing I want to see if you do a q + a again is if you mention Blah Blah Blah Vinyl, then put in a b roll of it and hole you are talking about it to 1. Interest viewers more 2. Show viewers what the product you are talking about looks like
Good vid man..I've been away for a while and sorry I've not been showing support my dad is sick and I've gave up on trying to customise anymore.im sad about both.good to see u r going in hard still ..much love Bro 💚👊
@@DeJesusCustomFootwear I hope so to man.its been a rough time tbh n the fact I don't feel the drive to create anything makes it worse..thank you bruvah
Bro I just started doing customs thanks to u . Do u know anyway to get paint cheaper I’ve looked everywhere, are there stores that sell angelus at the store?
They’re in michaels stores but it may only be online.. there’s some mom and pop shops that carry it but just do some google searching as far as that goes.
