How many time have myself and others said on social media that these barriers are unsightly, expensive and serve little purpose. We have all suggested large wooden clad steel planters, say 2mx1.5m and 1m high, filled with soil, and plants. wouldnt look an eyesore and would be just as effective at stopping vehicles of any size, ould have 2 or 3 and zig-zag them to create a larger barrier with less impact to people, now imagine that in place of these barriers with a nice large plaque on the front saying welcoime to York... they would have next to nothing as an installation cost and which looks best for the city?
