When this was posted Frank Smith was roughly 61 years old and had quit smoking 20 years ago at age 41. This is real encouraging for people that have quit smoking.
create your own sim lab scenarios when studying your nursing notes for an exam. also try to incorporate patient teaching and study your nursing terminology to laymen terms for the patient. notice how the patient kept asking whats this whats that. great sim lab!

This was a great simulation. My only thing is, if patient interaction is a part of the simulation there wasn't enough explanation of what they were doing. There's a lot of terminology being thrown around but that's not very reassuring to the patient. They need to know exactly what is going on, exactly what you are doing and the purpose of your treatment in plain English. Otherwise great simulation
5 minutes without getting an ECG in a high risk patient? Ideally a patient like this shouldn't be held up in the ER but get the ECG evaluated already in the ambulance and go directly to Pci lab.
Why would you give morphine to someone who just stated they had a pain of 4/10....aren't you supposed to give another dose of nitroglycerin prior to giving such a strong pain medication? I am a bit confused.
In the beginning at the handoff, the previous nurse stated that she gave him 2 doses of nitro, He can have up to 3, it's OK. So they gave him one more but it didn't take all the pain away. In reality, they would wait after the nitro a few minutes before giving the morphine. Lol, I just gave you morphine...
Morphine relieves the pain that isn't relieved by the Nitro. Also, it decreases the demand for oxygen from the cardiac muscles and relaxes smooth muscles in case it's vasospastic angina. Morphine does more for cardiac episodes other than just being a relieve for pain. That's why MONA is usually the protocal for angina.
