Yes the 7 day ticket is the way to go if time is on your side. Come to the temples in the morning and go back to SiemReap for lunch and the afternoon. Many time I stayed for 3 months and made so many friends both in Siem Reap and at some of the temples.

Never felt unsafe to be honest. We were in Siem Reap, Koh Rong Samloem and Phnom Penh. All seemed fine. Of course I’m sure some areas aren’t great but luckily we avoided them.
