Wait. How did you put it together? From someone who doesn’t really understand what just happened, I missed the reveal. I watched this video because I was intrigued by the finished product.

Good job cutting but not a good job showing what happened after you took the pattern off the wood. I would have liked to see you put the tree together and show all the sides.

Hi, I'm Jim from Wisconsin. I'm a newbie scroll sawer and enjoyed your video of the angle cut pine tree. I would like to cut one out myself. Can you tell me where I can find the pattern?

Sorry, how did you assemble it to get the 3D effect?
@ScrollSawCorner
@ScrollSawCorner 2 месяца назад
The piece is cut at an angle so they wedge into place when you push the outer edges back.

As a beginner, it feels like you missed some steps. How did you assemble it for instance?
@ScrollSawCorner
@ScrollSawCorner Год назад
Hi Chuck, the tree is cut with a bevel so the pieces slide forward and lock into place. There is not really much to the assembly. I didn't use any glue or anything, just pop into place.
@ChuckFarlieSeesAll
@ChuckFarlieSeesAll Год назад
@@ScrollSawCorner It would’ve been helpful to see how it went together. I’m just starting out and could’ve used to the guidance

@@ChuckFarlieSeesAll Same here. Weird that assembly wasn't included in the video. Makes me think it may not be as straight forward as it seems. Especially if it's so easy. Show how easy it is.
@mtz3843
@mtz3843 Год назад
so the tree is hallow on the backside, everything is pushed forward right? you did not show that part?
@ScrollSawCorner
@ScrollSawCorner Год назад
This is correct, it is pushed forward from the center and it locks into place that way.
@franklopes100
@franklopes100 2 года назад
how do u assemble it? You didn't show it.
@ScrollSawCorner
@ScrollSawCorner 2 года назад
You push the pieces forward from the back and they lock in due to the cutting angle
@franklopes100
@franklopes100 2 года назад
@@ScrollSawCorner At first missed the fact that you were not cutting it at 90 degrees. But instead at 3 degrees. It makes sense now. Thank you for sharing.
@ScrollSawCorner
@ScrollSawCorner 2 года назад
@@franklopes100 no problem, I'm thinking it might be good to do a quick primer on all the techniques used during the intro and then go into detail during the cutting. Thanks for your feedback!

Where's the pattern? Also, could you do step by step? Not really a guide for a newbie like me
@ScrollSawCorner
@ScrollSawCorner 2 года назад
The pattern should be in a link in one of the other comments. I can't make a new video on this right now but maybe these steps will help. Thanks for watching! -select a piece of 3/4" thick stock. -Apply the pattern using your preferred method. (I use blue tape on the wood plus spray adhesive on the back of the pattern.) -Cut the base. -Angle your saw about 3 degrees. I don't think this is critical as long as it is close. -Begin cutting the tree. Be sure you enter in the same direction each pass so you don't change the direction of the bevel. -I cut from the outside in on this project but it left a small piece for the last few cuts. I might recommend trying to cut from the inside out. -Remove the pattern and sand any fuzzies. -Stack your pieces together and push forward to lock in place.

What blade are you using in the 3/4" Pine?
@ScrollSawCorner
@ScrollSawCorner 2 года назад
If I'm cutting 3/4" pine I'm almost always going to use a #3 or #5 skip tooth reverse blade or equivalent. This is alder which is slightly harder but not by much. I used a #5 for this project.
