Hey there guys and gals, what a great time for milling am I right. Well lets try something new and different.... because why not.
In this video I have a basic set up for milling with my MS291 with a 25" bar and the Alaskan style mill attachment. Getting that set up on an angled log and watch me chug through this dense ash tree.

It was a good idea and worth trying for sure but I’m guessing a more powerful saw is needed for a method like this I have a 291 too and have been looking for videos showing guys using one to mill with When I finally do this I’m getting a ripping chain for sure, no matter what method I go with and will use wedges

This worked pretty well. Needed to be up on something when it come to the bottom. I was cutting some older ash and it was hard stuff. Softer wood on a 291 and a ripping chain makes life a lot easier. I would say after doing this for a few years that using an aluminum ladder or similar with the log slightly down hill and a simple hand crank is the best. Very easy with the hand crank to apply constant pressure and makes the cut more even. Yes to wedges and have fun! Thanks for watching.
