Brilliant films, it was like being transported back in time, to when i was being taught to fish from old timers, who were similar ages to the chaps in the film.
They just didn't know how toxic the damn things were. I was surprised in seeing some old films where cigarettes were referred to as coffin nails so perhaps they'd seen people who became ill and it was evident that cigarettes were the cause.
@@steveg8322 the scientists and the tobacco companies knew, but money dictated policy. The term "coffin nails" was a pun on "coughing" rather than an acknowledgement of the long term risks of smoking. It was normal to discard a butt into the gutter or even on the floor in a public space, grinding it under your heel. The filters are plastic. We have definitely made progress.
Takes me back to fly fishing in Westmoreland for grayling and trout as a boy and the Wharfe was the first river I fished for trout, at Linton Falls. Reg Righyni was a legend then. Thanks for sharing these.
