Great video and congratulations on the result, I bet you were buzzing after getting through to the next round. My fishing days are over unfortunately due to arthritis in my hands but its great to watch RU-vid videos of people fishing. By the way a fly I had a lot of success with over the years was my variation on a Red Tag, using black wool cut up instead of peacock herl and silver wire to hold it down (and stop the trout ripping it to bits), black hen feather at the front and red wool for the tail, size 14, 12 and 10 down eye wet fly hooks. This fly caught loads of fish, I used it on stillwaters, river and even in estuaries for sea trout. Tight lines !!
Well done on getting to Llan without a car and considering the nearest rail head is Gobowen or Ruabon you've done brilliantly. Don't regularly follow you otherwise if i knew you were coming up I'd have offered a lift. Hope you enjoyed your visit and the fishing.

Your chaislong bivi...like a butterfly wiggling out of its chrysalis you were. Blowing blokes minds once again...in numerous ways Golf coursed are not for the timid. Pots shot missiles coming in from all around is not salmon parr for the course... I need a controler I think sometimes..
Well done. I know what you mean about qualifying on your own merits. An old friend of mine qualified in her category without catching anything because she was the only female in the comp. She went on to win with a tiny fish of about 8 inches. She was horribly embarassed by the whole thing, and didn't enter the following year.
I went fishing once about 3 thousand years ago. I didn’t use any equipment. I just swam through the water grabbing fish with my hands. I let them all go of course because I don’t kill animals
I've always wanted to try fly fishing, looks great fun. Don't know where to start though as i know no one who does it. Should i get a few lessons or just a cheap set up and try that way ?
Mate it’s expensive , I done a buy now pay forever job lol. I got it because it’s so light and with all my fishing gear at least I can hike without killing my back with the weight. It’s a NORDISK Lofoten 1 ULW Tent.
Dee is very low at present....regulars hoping for salmo salar and sea trout arent very happy... We remain concerned about the future of our salmon river.....still a late night encounter with a sea trout remains a chance
