Carolina IV é um clássico deste disco ... perfeito!!! virtuosos nossos brazucas... é um orgulho imenso... só diminuído pela saudade do nosso Mestre André Matos... Sem palavras!!! THANKS A LOT! ANGRA IS GREAT!
This song really should feel like 'you are inside a ship': Carolina iv is the name of a REAL ship. The percussion/drums sessions you mentioned like 'remembering MICHAEL JACKSON"': André Matos had big inspiration from pop icons of the black culture (like PRINCE). IT'S KINDA like the drums from 'they don't care about us' - which featured the percussion brazilian group "olodum". The fusion on brazilian and classical music was achieved with the help of HERMETO PASCHOAL: ANOTHER GENIUS BRAZILIAN MUSICIAN. ANOTHER LEVEL ALL THE WAY THRU
I had the same reaction when I first heard this in 96. In 99 I had the chance to see the original formation performing Carolina IV live, last concert from the world tour, band was tight af… better than studio. Cheers my friend!
Geat reaction from you Man!!, I came from watching other reaction of the same song on YT and this couple looked like two granite statues (I think the Statues would have reacted better) I am from Argentina and Angra is one of the Best Heavy Metal bands in South America Andre Mattos RIP Keep Rocking Man
The beat in the beginning of the song Carolina IV is a music genre from Brazil called Axé, it's not pop music. You can hear it in the songs of Olodum or in the Ivete Sangalo's. There's a song of Michael Jackson "they don't care about us" (I think) he uses this genre and its elements on the introduction. Hope you understand. Sorry for my English 😊
I always love the way he appreciateS and reacts to Angra... your expressions nd excitement are such a masterpiece just like the songs !! 👏 Saludos desde BRASIL XD 🤘
I like every Angra reaction you do! It's makes perfect sense that you felt like you were on a ship. This album, and specially this song, is all about the great navigations on XIV and XV centuries. This songs talks about a fictitious ship called "Carolina IV" and the discover of Brazil. The tribal drums you hear in the beggining represents the brazilian culture as well as the symphonics interludes represent Europe continent where the great navigantions began.
This song is indeed one of their best. There are similar songs on the album Aqua as well. Very brazilian, authentic Angra sound. Start with Awake from darkness and Rage of the waters.
This is one of Angra's songs that I love. It manages to bring together elements of Brazilian music, classical music and power metal, with a unique, charming result and a highly poetic lyrics. Seeing your reaction to this song so special to me is really cool.✨😉
If you want something like this song (with a lot of variations during the song), you should react to "the shadow hunter" by Angra. But the singer in this case was Edu. This song is a masterpiece too.
Love your react man. What so special about this song is that angra added the Olodum's drums in the beginning. Olodum is a group that have a roots cutural brazilian music and that meshup if metal music makes it revolutionary. You came close about the michael Jackson part. He did a song if Olodum in Brazil once called " They dont care about us" .
Today is the first day I could hear Andre Matos's songs without shedding a tear. Instead of feeling sad, I'm feeling very happy to see someone with the same excitement I had when I discovered AngrA. I literally jumped from my chair every new song I listened to and seeing it happening to someone brings me many good feelings. Thank you for making the fans of my favorite band happy. Thanks for helping me too :)
Great reaction, I remember how anxious fans were at the time of the release of this album. There is another great Brazilian band, Dr. Sin, a Power trio with the best Brazilian guitarist in my opinion. Please check the song Fire, its insane.
This is the translation of the excerpt in PT BR. Save, Save, Iemanjá, Save, Janaína And all that was done in the water Throw flowers into the sea, God save the Queen And my step in this sphere A caboclo of orishas soon leaves the earth Meet your fate
The first verse could be translated this way as well: Hello Hello, Iemanjá, Hello Janaína. "Salve" is latin salutation/greeting that was incorporated in portuguese.
It's so cool to see your reactions to angra songs hauah man believe what I tell there is many amazing songs from angra to react on hauaha *TEMPLE OF SHADOWS*
Hey Daniel! I've been following your channel since your Nothing To Say video. Glad you're enjoying Angra my friend, it's great to see people discovering great (and sadly underappreciated) music like Angra and Shaman! Regarding Carolina IV, it's probably Angra's greatest song, yeah. I don't think anything they did before or after tops this song in terms of sheer epicness, creativity and dynamics, plus the inventive mix of Brazilian regional music (such as at the start) and Heavy Metal. That's a combination I never knew I needed in my life until I found Angra. Shaman has some of that too, but it's more of a combination of South American tribal sound + Heavy Metal. The intro of "For Tomorrow" is a great example. If you're interested in hearing more stuff like Carolina IV, check out "Unholy Wars" off of "Rebirth". It's not at the same level - a wannabe Carolina IV at best - but it's got the same vibe, plus the guitar riff is a lot better than Carolina's and Kiko does a wicked solo in it, one of his best. Speaking of Kiko, since you seem to like him a lot, here' s a recommendation, maybe even for a Reaction video: "Live and Learn" from the an EP Angra released shortly after "Rebirth" called "Hunters and Prey". "Live and Learn" is probably Kiko's best guitar work in his entire life. I'm not a huge fan of shredding but that solo is just UNBELIEVABLE, I'd actually argue even God-level professional guitarists would have a hard time playing it. As I said, I've been enjoying your videos a lot, and if I may, I'd suggest 2 more songs for you to react to if you feel so inclined: the first one is "Deep Blue", off of "Holy Land" itself. It's a very intimate song that manages to be simultaneously somber and uplifting, and thematically it's a PERFECT end to the album (I actually don't get why they felt the need to end it with "Lullaby for Lucifer" instead. "Deep Blue" was truly the perfect ending), also one of André's greatest vocal performances. Listen to the album version if possible. It's truly one of the most beautiful and powerful songs I've ever heard. The 2nd song would be "Fire", by another BR band called "Dr. Sin". They released a DVD in 2005 (I think) and André makes a guest appearance on it, singing just this one song, which is likely their best one. Dr. Sin is a step below both Angra or Shaman in my opinion, but this song specifically is truly outstanding and probably André's greatest LIVE performance. Just look up "Dr. Sin Fire ft. Andre Matos" and you should find it. Finally, 3 questions: I was under the impression you were from Argentina for some reason (though I've always felt your English was too good for a non-native speaker), but in this video you mention you live in Canada. Are you Canadian after all? Second, am I wrong to assume you play the drums? Third, I'm curious about this room you record your videos in. Maybe you can give us a short tour of it next time? That's all for now man, looking forward to your next videos. Keep on rocking!
Hahahah wow thanks man for writing all this ! I appreciate it alot. Yes I am Canadian, my background is italian/australian , I play drums but my preferred instrument is guitar , and of course I can do that for you I will start one of my next videos with my set up and all that for you 🤘 cheers man !
awesome man! That song mixes a lot of Brazilian folk music and some classical aswell, I love it. I know you did Nothing to Say already but could you do with André? This live version in specific ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-N8uH2kmun60.html . There's Nothing To Say from that album Holy Land(1996) and Lisbon from the album Fireworks(1998), and he speaks french on this video with his public, the guy was a genius. Thanks!
At 4:50 am on this salsa a piece of the song "Bebe" by the great Hermeto Pascoal is played, a Brazilian master and one of the greatest musicians in the world!
I LOVED your reaction. I press the button like for your adorable, cute and amazing reaction plus your words in Portuguese ahahha that sound unbelievable cute! Try evil warning, I think is from Angels cry from Angra ( PLS Andre Matos vocal)
The title track is the best on the album, try to listen to it sometime (even if at your leisure and not for a react). Stunning, you shouldn’t miss it :) Thank you so much for giving Angra/Shaman/Andre a go, it means a lot for us Brazilians.
"i feel like im in a ship" well, the song is about the sad tale of a sailor, who was invited to part of a ship crew, however, in its return trip, the ship is hit by a terrible storm, and the sailor goes overboard and is lost at sea. the song then concludes with him, no longer able to see the ship, and lamenting the fact he will never see his loved ones again.
Hey man, where are you from? I think you're American, but I noticed you have kind of an accent that I can't figure out where's from... haha Well, nice video/reaction! I like it when the person reacting can say more than just "I like it/I don't like it, subscribe, blah blah blah, bye..." It's nice when you kind of analises the song and tell us your impressions about it. So, keep up with the good work!
Dhr a reação dele as partes da música kkk Pegou tudo que a música oferece! Todas as nuances, a vibe que ele cita tropical no começo, os teclados, a parte agressiva da música, o tapping do baixo etc..
One of the most difficult songs to understand the lyrics and arrangement, which perhaps talks about dying and this death is like charon/Caronte (The Boatman) taking souls on a boat called Carolina IV and each one thinks if he is going to heaven or sinking in the sea and reviewing in seconds all your life. Everything we were. Then the lyrics make references to things that only Brazil has, like Iemanjá, an Afro-Brazilian entity, queen of the waters, protector of fishermen and sailors, united in a performance that unites power metal with afro beats, classical music. It's a difficult song to decipher. But perfect for me as I'm Brazilian.
The begining of the song is based on a music style called "maracatu"... it's an OLD popular brazilian style, like folk... ou can see a bit here... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UgsU3qeObX8.html So what was done in the song is, portray the colonial period of exploration to the "new world" (Americas), mixing classical music (europe) and maracatu (brazilian), giving the tone of discovery. You should follow the lyrics next time you listen to it, so you get how it flows... ;-)
Daniel please on Aqua Reac see remasteurized version!! Awake from darkness ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rosCLH771O0.html Rage of the whater ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Ix8zN4AByW4.html your videos are incredible !! \m/
