Even the new TARDIS is wrong. It's a piece of ancient, outdated, worn-out technology that he essentially stole from a junkyard. It should never appear shiny, bright and brand-new.
The current design is just a throwback to the pre-movie aesthetic, which I don't necessarily dislike. The ridiculously nonsensical layout, however... that I do take issue with. You shouldn't need a map to figure out how to reach the door five feet in front of you because it can only be reached via a labyrinthine walkway.
Remove the woke elements and it's still uninspired and clunky. I feel that Moffat should have used Capaldi's era to wrap up the series with a definitive conclusion... *sigh... if wishes were horses.
My head cannon says he did. The first Doctor was present when Capaldi's Doctor regened, and Capaldi's incarnation went back to the beginning and became the first Doctor again in a loop. This was caused by having the Master and Missy exist in the same time frame and killing each other. Timey Wimey ripples were sent out across the structure of time and space, trying to fix this anomaly, creating the timeless child, who was something else, who did the splitty in two thing that is now cannon, and grew up to become the black woman 'doctor' seen in the Jodi 'doctor' stories, and the child that replaced her in that episode, who eventually became, Jodi's 'Doctor' and a zillion others. This wasn't shown because the ripples had yet to settle.
Doctor Who is ALIVE... in a parallel reality that can only be reached by travelling with the Thralls through E-Space. Let's get our greatest minds on it, Whovians!!!!!!
I was playing Skyrim, watching Classic Who, reading Lovecraft and spending time with loved ones. All of these things an infinitely better use of my time.
_"BBC was the only source where one could watch the series at the time."_ False. It was still available on iPlayer (just not 18 hrs early), Amazon Prime, and HBO Max. Also, it's not just "conservatives" or "anti-woke" people; I'm a dyed-in-the-wool, Bernie-bro progressive and I still say the ratings were garbage. I mean...political affiliation really has no bearing on how math works. I've also seen comments from women, disabled people, and even trans people who also find current DW dismal.
I'm 48, a life long fan, seen every episode of modern Who I saw episode 1 of this series and checked out. If it comes round with a new Dr and attitude I will try it again but till then forget it.
Wow! Did they truly say that? I gave up after (devil's cord) Now I get more entertainment listening to you guys review the episodes. Thanks for taking one for the team!
No, it was indeed, Ncuti Gatwa who told fans to "touch grass." Jinkx Monsoon also basically told old fans to f*** off, and claimed that for every 1 fan lost to "transphobia" (because it couldn't be piss poor scripts & direction, could it?), they'd gain another 3. Well...the numbers are in and it turns out real life doesn't work like that.
They feed us rubbish and tell it’s caviar. When we don’t come back or complain, they tell us it’s us that’s wrong. Well sorry like any company that provides poor service. I won’t be back, until something drastically changes. To use the words of my father, I’m not angry, I’m just disappointed.
My kids (lifelong fans for over 10yrs) call it garbage. They are your 'old' audience no longer welcome according to creators and stars. RTD crashing and burning is just poetic justice.
When a coloured gay man tells me 'not to watch his show and touch grass' as a married straight white man I must follow his every instruction as I don't want to offend. I must have misinterpreted what he said.
I’m represented on screen, but I’m too busy touching grass. Or maybe it has something to do with me actually supporting actual balance in proportion with actual population numbers.
The best part? Your video will get more views than Arthur's article. In fact, in the 12 minutes your video has been up it has garnered 4 more comments than his 12 day old article
@@braxxian Matt Smith era is far more watchable than Jode's era, as you can tell at times that Matt was enjoying the role, is it prefect, no, but at least it was entertaining
@@Shinintendo Capali's era was ok, not great either, about the best ep of his run was Heaven sent, where the Doctor was actually on his own and it looked like it was senting up for a serious showdown between the Doctor and the Time Lords, but then Hell Bent was a complete let down as it suddenly went from the Doctor trying to find out about the hyrid to a goodbye Clara ep, when we already said goodbye in Face the Raven! In his final season as the Doctor, I kind of like what they did with the Master, or rather Missy, trying to redeem her only for everything go wrong, but that Christmas ep, was really terrible and one could tell it was written in a rush
@@braxxian you made it through the Abzorbaloff and the scribble monster, the farting aliens and gave up when it got good? I'd have imagined you'd LOVE space babies.
The cope is hard with the shill media journalists lol. I am in no doubt that it is doing really badly on Disney Plus. Its not in any streaming charts as fas as I am aware. Even the iPlayer only numbers are tragic. 300,000 and 240,000 for the first 2 episodes over 7 days.
I stopped trusting Rotten Tomatoes years ago as a guide to what is good or not. I started noticing movies I like were starting to get low scores and vice versa. Only makes sense to judge yourself when it's all said and done.
The people defending the low overnight ratings are the same people who compared the data for all viewings from all platforms to the overnight views alone for previous episodes to try to claim Jodie's Era was actually popular
Eee, I remember when I was a kid watching Doctor Who and how I'd look forward to what the Doctor and his companions would be up against next. The men were not being over manly, the women were not being overly womanly, just characters playing a role. Now this nonsense appears making the sexual orientation and gender the story instead and the characters are no longer just playing a role but sending messages about themselves. Hell, many actors I grew up watching were gay, it just didn't matter as they just played a role. So why do we now have it thrown at us what their orientation is? Fine, have a transgender play a bad person, but keep it to yourself, just play the bloody role without trying to educate us about your orientation. It should not be about you!
I stopped watching Doctor Who during Capaldi's run. I was going to come back, but after seeing what they did to the show, there was no way i was going to waste my time with this woke garbage.
I started dipping in and out of Dr Who during the Whittaker era, came back a few times out of hope, especially when Tennant returned briefly but after they talked down to the Doctor and the time gremlins I finally quit for good.
So if that’s the case, and they effectively “admit” that angry fans have that level of power, then by that logic, that should still mean that the conclusion would be to give them what they want.
I mean they are kind of right but, for the wrong reasons. Angry Doctor Who fans are the reason for low viewership but, no one ever talks about why the fans are so angry. The new writers believe that fans are entitled and should just take what they are given. When you hijack a franchise and act like you have a right to change what made people love it you are the problem. Not the fans.
Well, I'm not surprised, I was wondering what was taking them so long to blame us for their failures. It's like being in a toxic relationship. It's never their fault but ours.
The critics are bought and paid for. The audience has been giving signs but they keep ignoring them. I am angry because they managed to ruin one of my favorite shows by turning it into a woke/gay fest.. I really don't care for that. Then they shit on the fans and blame them all for bad viewership except for themselves. Great way to make a show successful...
Angry former fan here (Tom Baker era) *raises hand proudly* At this point they might as well rename it “Dr. What” since obviously not the same series that we all know and used to love. *pops in “ Day of the Daleks” and sips his beer* Piss off
It appears this article is mis-interpreting data when they said "The original series appeard in 1963 and has had several iterations since the with the most recent, fourteenth season...). Either this is the 42nd season if you want to include everything from 1963, or if you want to split up the iterations then this is the 1st season of the 3rd iteration (according to Disney and imdb).
Let's rewrite the dictionary definition of the word 'critic'. It now means 'professional shill for 'x' product, who will run interference for writers, showrunners, and generally bad product'. If you are a media journalist, do us all a favour and go do something else for a living.
This article's absolutely right: we ARE misinterpreting the data. They hired golf scorers YEARS ago to handle the viewership data and we're STILL acting as if bigger is better. The day Doctor What hits a score of 1 is the day it'll be the biggest hit in all of history. Us "angry fans" just need to get over our expansionist ideology and accept that smaller is actually better.
@@SarcasticPlotRecaps Peter Capaldi's a great Valeyard but only an okay Doctor. Make him the Valeyard's 2nd incarnation and he retroactively becomes brilliant. It would give "The Doctor is no longer here! You're stuck with me!" a new context. The problem is that the Valeyard's redemption arc wasn't what Peter Capaldi intended to deliver. He turned the Doctor into a complete sociopath then struggled to repair the damage. I didn't believe I was watching a legitimate Doctor until "Sit down and talk!" and even after that, I felt like he was about to either tell Clara Oswald that her death was part of his plan or suffocate her himself. He had the same vibe that Commodus had when he murdered Marcus Aurelius in Gladiator.
@@tomnorton4277 I guess... Is that not more a problem with the writing though? I also disliked S8 and the sociopathic dark version and was much happier when he refreshed the performance and writing for S9 and 10.
@@SarcasticPlotRecaps Writing a darker Doctor wasn't the problem because William Hartnell, Sylvester McCoy, Colin Baker and Christopher Ecclestone all proved that it can be done without turning him into an outright sociopath. Even Matt Smith showed traces of a darker and more dangerous Doctor. The problem is that Peter Capaldi couldn't balance out the performance, so his darker moments came across as out of character. Plus, lurching into suddenly becoming a punk rocker didn't help. And yes, that was his idea, not the writers, because Capaldi loved punk rock in his youth.
I’m too stupid to know what I like and can’t appreciate true art. I’ll bow down and touch grass. Still won’t watch. They can do whatever they want to. They don’t care about their history and lore. Why should I.
I was told by Gatwa to go touch grass; the cross dresser told me I'm replaceable; and, finally, a news article proclaimed that Nu Whoo wasn't written/produced/whatever for me. Every one of those statements means the same thing: don't watch, and we don't need you. I left mid-way through Capaldi's run and have never looked back. I have no interest in RTD and the rest of his cronies shoving their lifestyle in my face, parading it around as entertainment, and then daring me to have an opinion that doesn't match theirs. I am NOT an angry Doctor Who fan, I'm a disappointed and disgusted FORMER Doctor Who fan.
I’m not quite sure how I ended up here, as I'm not British and I’ve never watched a Doctor Who episode to my recollection. However, since it happened to me, I’ll offer my unwanted two cents in return. I find the headline of the article to be actually extremely informative and actionable, if read without prejudice. Just do it and the immediate logical conclusion would be: if you are a TV critic, watch the series-you will love it to high heaven; if you are a fan, don't even start-just go away, it will make you angry. Brilliant summary.
You're never going to win this people. They believe they're on the right side of history and you're not. And also I wouldn't be surprised if Disney just gave numbers that were a bit inflated because that's what they do with Ahsoka. Were they estimate that three to five people in a room are watching this together.
Yes. And so I am happy to be touching the grass on the wrong side of History. These people are idiots. In the end all the History will show, in another ten years or so, was that this is where the show really completed its failure and descent from the mass audience popularity and universal fan love it had. Just the same as Star Wars, Marvel. Disney and modern Hollywood films. This year is the turning point when all the flops really start to hurt them in the pocket. They wont change course as you say, we are on the wrong side of history. All that will happen is more and more studios go out of business, simply because they wont be able to afford to keep going. They would rather go broke, than drop the woke. I have no sympathy for them, when they are themselves, actually history.
That is an overstatement, that's a mole hill not a mountain H....We are disappointed and sad......the show has training wheels (David tenant's Dr) so there is no real risk if he dies or simply disappears...and frankly those who watch it already are inclusive and accepting so why try to convert the already converted we the fans invested time and money into the show and to have it turn into this obviously shows they have ignores their base audience and is no longer a show for the whole family so we did not go quietly into that goodnight but also after Whittaker we didn't make to much noise....hope they enjoy their bubble because it is shrinking fast and is gonna pop on their thick empty heads.
I think for most fans, anger has turned to apathy. Doctor Who ended with Peter Capaldi, let's continue to point and laugh at whatever this dumpster fire is supposed to be.

I mean, they're not wrong. Viewers are the reason the show failed, just as the show's success would also be the reason it succeeded. Here's the thing though, viewers are under zero obligation to watch your crap. It's up to you as the show to make said show worthy of said viewers time. The show did not accomplish this, at all. Viewers owe you literally nothing, you owe them for their time and interest.
Doctor Who is done for most people. Just move on and let the current viewers enjoy it, even if you don’t. Life’s too short to be constantly bashing on something.
''Despite Praise from Critics'' As if literally anyone whatsoever cares or trusts what most mainstream critics have to say. Most of these people will call anything good if you line their pockets well enough or because it aligns with their own personal beliefs and politics. Which, given the absolute trash we've received for the past decade from Kurtzman Trek, Disney Star Wars, Abby Smash Simulator otherwise known as the Last of Us Part 2, Batwahman, 2016 Ghostbusters, Kevin Smith's Masters of the Bait & Switch, almost everything Disney has shat out for the last couple years now, the Rangs of Power, to current year Doctor Who, all of which have been immensely hated and rejected by a large percentage of both audiences and fans, that comes as no surprise whatsoever.
@@codyw1 Well, I guess I'm not defending the TV movie much, but I've disliked Doctor Who since the 2005 reboot. It was way too Americanised, CGIed and overacted like buggery, with horrible background orchestrals from start to finish. Since the woke politics was added, it has only got more sickening for me, and I'm a huge Doctor Who fan.
The number is fairly damning that Dr who is a dead brand Disney is radio silence about numbers and the show is 4m viewers if they remember to watch it.

so people are angry just because doctor who having low numbers... not because the episodes stink or cause the cast criticizes fans 🤣 thats what i get from the article. you got to show big numbers to fans!! no matter what
I dunno why they picked dr who to be a vehicle for women/trans/gay issues ... dr who fans are nerdy people that wanna watch a show about a crazy dude and his crazy insane antics.. we arent watching it for anything political lmao ill never get why they tried this with dr who
Back in the day, these people would be considered dead weight, and would be axed for losing A company millions for bad writting and design. It's like they don't even care, unless you consider Blackrock is covering their losses maybe.
it wasnt made for me, according to the main actor not to mention the dude in a dress in the second episode... so why would i watch it? im not seeing myself on the screen so why should *I* want to watch it... ill use their logic against them
