This happened to a man in our community 2 years ago. His 8 year old son was sitting behind him when the line cut the whole way through him only stopping on his spine. The person responsible was never caught. That poor boy was covered in his father's viscera as he lay there and died.
I've seen wood with nails, I've seen covered up holes, I've seen huge logs cut down to block tight trails. I've even seen some low hanging wire to catch your front forks, but I never even thought of something like this being up there. Head level wire, this might not be someone who hates dirtbikers, it could be. But it could also be a person who just wants to hurt someone, there are some sick people out there.
To think that ppl complain about kids not doing anything outside not realizing that this is what kids of this generation would be doing outside, yet ppl like this guy with his cable are trying to prevent such a thing. Disgusting world we live in
Well… i agree… but at the same time lol, either find somewhere legal to drive, or understand that driving on peoples property comes with consequences, not saying this is reasonable or okay AT ALL… but cmon… is it that hard to not trespass?
Bro idc if it’s their property or not. Setting traps like that can kill someone regardless of what’s going on, just because someone is riding on your property doesn’t mean you gotta kill them. If they’re threatening you that can be different
It should be the law trespass and get what you have coming. It is not hard do not go where you should not be, is it really that hard to under stand for you dirt bags????????????????????????????????????????
My friend died being clotheslined by a cable in '72. He died before we could get him out of the woods and to a doctor. I swore revenge but didn't know who to kill. God will take care of whoever killed Dave.
@@davidcummings6299 If only you'd have taken (how'd you say it again) "poor old Dave's" place!!! The world would be one less asshole that can't control the shit that comes out it!!!
This reminds of when I was fighting with my neighbors every other day. They didn’t like the noise of a modified moped and a small dirt bike along with a 4x4 lawnmower. They decided to setup a trap at the entrance to my field with barbed wire. My best friend was with me and fortunately behind me at full speed I was headed for the open gate and this the same thing as you guys sliding under the wire. My friend was far enough behind he thought I just fell and I barely managed to get him to shut down in time. Didn’t take long to figure out who did it but unfortunately we couldn’t prove anything. It’s pretty sad when you have to watch your own property because people move into an area and don’t like what you have been doing for 10 years or more.
it is so stupid because I have a friends dog that was poisoned but they didn't have proof so no one did anything. It's so annoying that police wont do anything. Also sorry for bad grammar im sleep deprived.
We're you riding up and down the road stirrings up shit or in your field? Regardless they had no business being on your property. Some people are just assholes. You didn't say anything about where you got in.
Gabe Lindsay I was on my property for the most part. The issue was the road was a public road and it was how I had to access other parts of it because I have property on both sides of the road. The situation has been handled now
Man that’s bad my friend lost his wife because someone put a cable across the trail and his wife got hit on the neck, she died a couple months later because of that, man I’m always worried about some dumb ass doing things like that
This is how a friend of my dads passed. Some guy put it up on a trail they had rode almost every day of their life. Shame I never got to meet him, heard he was the man
You know what fucking scares me ? It is that from reading the comment, it happens a lot and I don't know what to think of it ! When I first saw the video I thought it was "just" one psycho who wanted to harm someone, but apparently it's multiple psychos around the globe, fucking crazy
It unfortunately kills people everywhere everyday around the world, people are crazy, I've removed 5 traps my self around in Forrest's in Denmark.... But the police takes it very serious and they actually caught the dude that was setting wire traps, he got 2 years in jail for attempted murder
Yes ,Theyre only argument for "you wouldnt say that if something bad happens to u or some1 u care abt due to booby traps" is "me n everyoen i know knows not to do that" thats an invalid argument bcs 1. You dont know that 100% 2. "If" "Would" means its a hypothetical scenario so theyre basically avoiding the question, bcs deep down they know only after they get a taste of their own medicine would they sit in silence with their hypocrisy ass Literally property > human being
It's amazing how you guys still don't get the message. Every single person everywhere around the world who wants to go on a peaceful hike through the forest without someone running them over hates your guts.
Someone used to do this in my town with thin steel wire in the bike lane, like it would slice u if u going too fast. It happend like 20 times in different locations in like one month. it's overwhelming with bike riders in my city but no one got hurt. Police didn't catch them but they stopped later on.
When I was in eight grade, a girl from my school skipped a snow day to ride snowmobiles with her boyfriend, he was flying across a field and ducked for a barbed wire fence and took her head off. Rathdrum Idaho around 1984
Alright listen to this. This is clearly an attempt to kill/injure. Even IF this is public property, and IF the local laws say the riders are tresspassing, it's not cool to stick a wire at neck level. If this has been happening for a long time, and they are still determined to make a 'physical' solution, make something visible and big, like maybe a big cloth sign or something strung instead, saying "Oi stop this!" Or something similar. Not something that could kill or seriously injure.
@N S I wrote up a whole response but due to RU-vid's notification thing it got deleted, so I'll write it up again and be more brief than the last iteration. That said, it still ended a little long, so there's a kind of tldr at the bottom. Maybe, in your eyes, they did earn it. But that gives you, or this property owner, no right to place any kind of trap intending to harm them or anyone else. Even in the most stand-your-ground states, booby traps have been ruled illegal where they've made it into courts, due to the inability to be absolutely certain who is harmed by them, unlike the (legal in those states) shooting or other forms of property defense. It's kind of an example akin to filling a mailbox with cement to get back at vandals. They're clearly not in the right to destroy your mailbox, but if they break their arm on your reinforced box then you end up liable because you intended to harm them. If this trap worked, the owner would almost certainly face legal repercussions for knowingly harming (or potentially killing) someone when the problem could have been solved in so many other different ways. In short: Maybe they did earn it, but it isn't for the property owner to decide, and it certainly isn't up to them to play executioner. Two wrongs don't make a right, etc.
Especially if you know that riders are coming on your property and using that trail. If that is your response, you could be held liable in court depending on your jurisdiction.
Not only is this highly illegal (in the US anyway idk laws in other countries) but it's also an international war crime. This is so bad that I think they should have to go to prison for at least 15 years for attempted murder
There are two separate issues here. 1 you shouldnt be riding on private property without explicit permission. 2 setting a trap to harm someone is messed up and probably illegal wherever that is. These are two totally different things and i think people are getting confused trying to make them one.
Ah an example of the defense I was talking about. thank you! so if its private property can I put a spike pit in my lawn because my neighbor dogs shits on it?
My old elementary school principal was riding snowmobiles with her husband a couple winters ago and sadly she had to witness first hand her husband hitting a wire that someone had put up. Such a tragedy .
We had this problem here in Sweden as well when I was younger. To stop illegal riding (on 40 year old enduro trails) they put up cable traps, stones and also tried to take you down from the bike. I don't know but premeditated murder is probably worse than riding your bike in the forest. Too bad that one was young at that time and "afraid" of these idiots.
In the state that I live in, what happened here would be seen as attempted murder whether it's private property or not. Also, if the property is not posted as private, the riders couldn't get in any really trouble, just a warning at most.
really? most places in the states don't require that you post an explicit sign saying "PRIVATE PROPERTY" for it to be illegal for someone else, who knows for sure that it isn't THEIR property, to trespass. It is, however, pretty firmly established in federal law that you can't booby-trap even private property. Property-owners have lost the property they booby-trapped to the thieves and other criminals who were trespassing. I'm sympathetic to these bikers, but pretending like it's perfectly fine for anyone to trespass anywhere they want unless explicitly told not to is insanity.
First off, thanks for the English! Second there was a guy here in the UK that lost his head with a trap like this. He was only a kid too. Be careful fellas.
To anyone thinking those wires were justified, no! With those wires hitting anybody it'd be counted as attempted murder since the person setting those wires up hopefully knows that they are able to kill. Aswell, markings for private property is needed to indentify if the sentence (if someone is killed) is to be lightened
@@personguy2694 the tires tear up the ground and dig furrows into the land, they tear the bark off the trees as they bounce off them causing the trees to sicken/weaken.
One time I was riding with my friend, and we were going full speed down this path and my friend had to slide under a wire placed the same way. It was pretty badass.
Petr Svetr No people pull shit like this all the time to try and stop bikers. It is their property but setting up something like this can seriously harm someone. For example a dude had his Larynx crushed and unable to speak without a voice box for 20 years due to one of these traps
Suppose its a good idea to order several at once then :P Watching videos like these makes me kind of miss my Yamaha DT50 moped, was bit slow for traveling & id rather walk or go on my bicycle too the store or friends. (Was a bitch to start sometimes wasting more time taking it out to ride over too a friend or the store instead of just going by bike.) Spent 15 minutes starting it up before i got going once by moped (was kind of my fault that time as i forgot the fuel line valve (flooded the carb essentially.) But moved about alright in the forest even if it was having a max speed of 45 km/h with its tiny 50cc cylinder. (On a steep hill you'd be lucky to hit 25+ with it lol.) Though I'd make sure to keep away from areas near reservoirs can get into trouble scaring off endangered species from areas like that. Like certain birds that feed off specific things in that area like the spotted nutcracker needs a rather specific diet to survive the winters.) Also I'd bring a pair of pliers & then cut that cable into 5 cm pieces & leave it in a bag taped or hung up on the tree with a note inside saying *free scrap metal* If you dont have any use of those cables that is. Looks like it could be used for clutch/brake wiring or throttle cable or is it too thick ?.
@@davidcummings6299 your delusional seek help. If you think murder is the solution to torn up grass you need to be cast away from society. @@ryanmosley8250No, they can still be arrested. Booby Traps will still net you an Attempted Murder Charge even if it was your property. Booby Traps are actually considered a war crime.
I remember where I used to downhill bike and walkers would set traps like this or a piece of wood full of nails just after a drop off. Don't know how they get away with it.
Because someone hasn't staked them out and beaten the absolute living shit out of them yet. Just hide where that trap was set, they're bound to come back at some point.
Private property where I am it is considered defending your property. And honestly they could say I don't know how it got there. Nothing could get done
@@TatesNBeans oh man it'd be stellar if a biker went down to the endposts where these wires are anchored to and electrify it, cover it in cat shit or wasps or something foul. Booby trap the trap, really give them a taste of their own medicine
It's not a trap if it's on his property if you are trespassing that means you did not know it was there cuz you don't live there and have no business there guy has a right to put anything he wants on his property or block a path on his property it is not his job to tell you guys cuz your trespassing
@@youngcrusade840Buddy, someone set up this exact same trap on someone else's property because they didn't like the sound of his bikes. Except replace the wire with BARBED wire.
I know I'm a little late but I've been watching your videos all week now and I gotta say it's crazy what people will do to bikers. I can't believe this. Steel wire trap is insane
Even to block your own access to your property, a cable can kill someone and the obstacle builder can be held accountable for criminal mischief just for putting it there. There are better ways. This is just stupid at a dangerous level. Glad they kept their heads!
Pretty sure cables across trails need to be visiblely marked. If that IS a property line and not just a man trap, the land owner would still be liable for any death or injury caused by it.
HighGear lol they dont need to set up signs, its their property. i bet you dont have "no trespassing" signs on your yard and you dont want people camping on your lawn
FinlandForceTeam in forested areas like this its pretty much required to specify your property line, if you don't have the signs then they took you to court for trespassing and showed them this unedited video the man who put the trap WILL not might WILL go to jail as there's no signs designating private property with a trap set up for the sole intention of harming an individual, this video IS attempted murder. Take the land owner to court guys you'll win
I know a guy that got clotheslined by a rope his neigbor set up. Neigbor went to jail: attempted murder. Biker caught the rope under his helmet, luckily not neck, but almost sliced his jaw off. Terrible.
I think what they meant was that, in this case, whether they were trespassing or not, there is no reason to set something up that is hard to see and could clearly kill someone
Holy shit, you can get decapitated from that if its tight enough? 💀 Thats actually crazy, and the fact that theres a chance that the person who set it up wouldnt be charged, makes it even worse.
What a society we're living in People said it's legal to kill other human because it's their private place Honestly even if it's allowed you're just a boring psychopath, murderer trying to kill someone without actually being arrested It's so sad like honestly how ignorant are you? Like if you want someone to kill just like do it to yourself? Why you have to do it on other innocent people? Your parents are disappointed and you shall pay for your sin
Heard this was because of tresspassing. But couldn't comment on your original video since comments are off. Anyway, the owner could have put a chain with a no tresspassing sign between them. Putting a line there is straight fucked up. Decapitation is not a good look when you end up in court.
@Interpol I don't live in the barbaric country of the EU where unrestricted castle doctrine laws still somehow exist, It's as if you guys haven't morally developed as far as us yet, Idiots like you are the reasons those laws were destroyed long ago, Those traps aren't protecting you, Only your petty land, Killing someone over a patch of dirt that you probably won't ever use and somehow morally justifying yourself that the act was morally good, That's truly disgusting.
I dont understand why people set wire traps, in America the person who set the trap up can be charged with attempted murder or murder, even if they are trespassing
That's sick to purpose a death trap for guy's having fun bothering no one. Hopefully this person that set this trap is in prison. I've accidentally run my neck into our drying line! Which tought me alot about checking my trails.🦊🏁❤️
good, it will teach you stay off our land. Go take your damn bikes on a public property to play on or on your own property to fuck up. How would you like it if I brought my fucking truck and drove all over the front lawn and tore it up for fun?
People stfu yes they might be trespassing but attempting murder is crime and defending it is a crime so dont give me the whole well they tress passed cause if you do something threatening a life of a person thats attempt of murder
Idk how the laws work where you guys are but here (states) that was an illegal setup. Right of way cable fencing must be clearly marked with flags and signs so many yards back where I'm located. We've had 3 decapitation events in the past five years that I'm aware of. The last time this happened few miles from my home was a girl on a 4 wheeler. Only reason the property owner got busted and charged on this one was because several riders went thru the same entrance about 6 minutes before she did. For whatever reason, she fell behind (we all think she stopped to relieve herself) being the only girl in the group it makes sense anyhow. So she clipped the line, it took all the controls off the handle bars, rode up her chest yanking her clean off the bike and somehow her head was still barely connected by a little flesh they say. Anyhow, nobody knowing this happened they turned back after noticing her missing and upon arriving the trucks and EMS were already on scene. Confused, they were freaking out on why none of them managed to hit the cable and soon realized the owner was somehow watching or heard everything and ran out placing orange and red flags down the cable trying to cover his ass. Always seems like a good idea at the time i guess, thinking to himself, I'll get em. Careful what you wish for right? So investigator were later able to put two and two together using the testimonies where multiple riders (witnesses) had gone thru there mere minutes ahead of her. I never heard the outcome of his trial. It's likely still ongoing as this was within the past 3 years. Then another girl lost her life summer before last, but his was due to an idiot young boy Rider trying to climb a steep ass Hill climb on a bike way to big for him while doubling her and rolled it back crushing her skull. Gotta be damn careful guys, damn careful.
Hey High Gear I know this is late but just wanted to tell you that you guys are lucky. I was riding my bike on a trail and got clotheslined by a barbed wire fence
Where are u guys from? Im asking because heard some classic balkanian cursing so i wanted to know... P. S. nice vidd gj... Great things from Serbiaa....
I live in a dead end and this old guy gets mad when we ride past and one day he came to are yard when we rode past his house and screened at us it was funny because as soon as my dad came out he got scared and want back to his truck never heard from him again
I wonder why don't the land owners confront the bikers and make a agreement to pay the land owners some of the taxes and in exchange they can ride their bikes on some of the land? I mean it sounds just like you paying for just a ride but its better then a war between bikers and land owners.
I own 450 acres. Fenced off and Posted. My house sets off road far enough to not be seen from the road. I have shot several Drones over my house. And have even had several people Trespassing. I haven't lost a case brought on for defending my property.
Totally illegal to do this under any circumstance, even if the biker is trespassing on private property. It's like making a covered spike pit. Setting deadly traps can result in murder charges.
HighGear I hear you man its real fun to ride there's nothing that can really replicate the feeling but for me it was more of a fad. I love out doors and exploring my land trying to build shelters and start fires with magnesium and flint (not bragging just letting you know I'm not a tree humper) it absolutely destroys your moment in nature when you hear autistic sounding machines screaming through the woods. Just my opinion I can't really hate cause I did it too
KingQuad Bott who said it's a trap(other than the guys going fast over a dirt trail). What if it's just a wire that most people who where going at a normal speed would see? What if that wires job is to signal to people that they should turn around?
zach burke If they were attempting to do that they would put up a single strand of steel cable at neck height, they would put up at least caution tape or a sign
Clothes line for a camping spot. Happens to be on a path meant for walking. Since other post said it was made of rubber. Only cheap line I know made of rubber is clothes line or plex tubing for waiter!
William Cooper Also your risk, if you hurt someone.. Both legally, if they know their shit, you laying traps with the purpose of injuring another person, could catch you an attempted manslaughter charge. Then, from the aspect of if that took my dad off his bike while we rode, at 63 years old, and injured him.. Not sure I could let that go, even if I wanted to. So there is that to consider when you try to fuck with someone's life... That they know where you live.
They ride and cause racket on other people land than are pissed when they almost kill themselfs. Well guess wat same way u can drive on my property same way i can tie two trees with a chain to help bugs migrate easier
@@AKESEBA nobody owns the land that those riders gone to. The cable is a simple attempted murder. Riders may cause racket but they don't try to kill you.
@@AKESEBA murder 1. Enjoy life in prison. Or deathrow. Or a vengeful friend/relative. Same for you @Billy Hill It's about 4 or 5 felonies btw. Plus the civil claim that will bankrupt you.
So, I'm a biker and think this isn't the way you should be trying to keep property from being damaged. It is a deadly or at least prone to great injury trap. On the other hand, if I had a piece of property and I put signs up (not evident in the video but there could have been some) reading "no trespassing", "no hunting", "do not enter", I would expect for you to respect my wishes. I have relatives who have farms and ranches that they have to fix water lines, fences, and numerous other things to keep their cattle and crops safe. How would you feel if you made a living that way and had chuckleheads riding their off-road bikes and quads across planned fields and had to chase down livestock that escaped after a gate was left open or fence was cut down? I'll even ask this question, did the guy who hit the stump blame the property owner for putting it there?
someone put one of these traps into a forest I was riding in, the wire actually made a slice on my throat and I got thrown back really hard and at first I thought that I was decapitated, luckily the wire snapped
