@Jcherry316 apparently some eat it. Baby birds digestion is very fast and doesnt absorb alot so there is a good amount nutrients left in the fecal matter. So parents won't let it go to waste. Afterall they were flying the entire time and could use some of that additional energy.

you can't compare this bird to a human. it does not have the mental capacity to realize that it's feeding its baby something that it can't digest. baby birds are notorious for not fully digesting their food in the first place which is why momma picks up the poo and eats it. loads of nutrition since the baby can't digest things fully yet. this is OUR fault that this is happening. birds are likely looking for specific things when it comes to feeding their babies, something like a shiny appearance will lead a mother to believe it's the exoskeleton of a bug, loads of bugs are shiny, and so is plastic. even the white looking ones are in strips as to look like worms or some type of insect. she's not INTENTIONALLY doing this, it's only because we've polluted the earth so much that she even has access to plastic like that. remember to put your trash in the trash bin and pick up plastic you see on the ground. it does wonders for keeping them out of the bellies of all kinds of wildlife, not just birds.
