As a trauma surgeon who's seen what much smaller and well-loved dogs can and will do, I highly recommend avoiding this kind of interaction with a dog. I have seen faces shredded and ripped apart. Noses, lips, and ears taken right off the face. It takes less than half a second. There's no time to react or defend yourself. Then one often ends up needing to euthanize the animal. Very traumatic for everyone. Please do not do this
But a lot of men built a certain way have a need to prove something, so they make a video of situations like this with an animal, so this guy will do this again. It's why women love to see a man with a yorkie, we know the man does not need to do this kind of thing.
instead of shouting at the dog which increases his fear of the clippers - he should be reassuring him and rewarding with treats whenever the dog stops showing his teeth, and sits, and gives his paw.

He would never bite this man. He loves him unconditionally... he just don't like nails cut. He then literally hands him the clippers back. He hates it, but knows he needs it. This is incredible
Honestly it's like most kids ever. I remember when I was little and I would throw a hissy fit every time my dad would try to clip my nails and as soon as it was over I would forget about it.

@Alberto Legra actually I did have a purebred Rottie. No way would she behave like that. If she had, I would have found another method of training her to accept the nail trim. But that's just me.
At this point a dog with a high anger level like this can devour the owner within half a sec and cause serious damages, at this point of the dog's life the next move would be to bite, there's no two ways about that. I own a dog, and i know what this reaction means. If u are in such situation pls either you leave the dog peacefully or just stop whatever you are doing with it..

The commenters here giving advice. Lol. Rott dad obviously is the alpha dog. Baby Rott was just being dramatic like some of our kids, but eventually tried to woo dad back by picking up the clippers and giving it back to him.

Some humans dislike getting their nails trim as well. I love that he gave the clipper to his dad even after dad showed him who the boss was. Dogs are too loyal.

He gets up and stands higher than the dog to show authority. That was amazing. The dog wants to get his nails clipped.. he just doesn't want it to hurt.. poor little monster baby.. :)
MY DOG DOES THIS! I literally had to buy a muzzle to clip his nails. He's a pit mix that we got as a puppy (med size, not large) from our friends and as he got old (he's about 16 now) he tries to scare me to stop clipping or something. He won't bite me but I'm not taking the chance & use the muzzle. I hate to but it's for both of us 🖤

But you shouldn't confirm a dog's fear either. If you were to pet him now, you are giving him confirmation that he is afraid. So you show him that you are not afraid and that there is no reason for the dog to be afraid.
You have to give that dog a lot of props, putting the cutters back in daddy’s hands and then not letting himself get so angry, that was almost human like anger management.

I had a friend recently do that, got her lip and chin chewed up just from a couple snaps from the dog. now they took her dog and it's being put to sleep. i wouldn't test it but he a G for that lol
It's just pure stupidity. It's been proved so many times that this alpha shit doesn't work. The only thing you get when you ignore a dog trying to tell you they are uncomfortable with what is happening is a dog that stops giving the warnings (growls) because no one is listening and jumps straight to biting to protect themselves! The smallest amount of positive training would give you a dog that will go collect the clippers then sit and calmly offer their paw without fear. Think about which method you would prefer...

What a little sweetheart, the dog knows they need cutting, but has to express the anxiety. The fact the dog picks up the nail clippers and puts them back on the owners lap just shows the bond between the two. Absolutely priceless.
On a totally different note, I once had an inside cat who knew he needed insulin shots. I would call out, "Tommy, its time for your shot" and he'd come running and jump up on the table and patiently wait for it.
A bond between the two? Priceless? I would be terrified of that dog, and it would not remain living with me for long. There doesn't seem to be any love and affection on either side.
Not good to go overboard with the threatening body language with this breed of dog who to give him his due did cooperate by picking up the nail clippers and relaxing.
At first I thought, "you trust that wild dog too much". Then I observed how obedient it was and I understood, the dog isn't angry, it's just scared of the clippers 😅
Our Rottweiler was very young (found in a dumpster at 2 weeks old) when we started introducing her to many children elderly people in the neighborhood and later to other dogs. She learned to be gentle, calm or goofy with each but as she tested boudaries I would tell her "Be nice" or "give kisses" and that took care of the growling about 95% of the time. If she doesn't obey by toning it down or cutting it out, my tone becomes firmer and I say "No" , or "Down" or "kennel up" and that gets it done. I haven't had to pinch her ear since she was little (she'll be thirteen years old next month) So at times I just ask her if she wants to "be nice" or "kennel up" and she often chooses peace and kisses but is just as comfortable going to her room for a nap 😊 I love my dogs but I refuse to allow them to think that they can challenge me and mouth off (like a rebellious teen) and run the show. No way!
I would never put my face in the face of a growling dog. Especially a rot. I'm sure he's your pal, but people have lost their face from this many times.

You said everything that makes you right...and really wrong in the same time. It's only a question of education. Your children would not bite you because of cuting nails ? It's the same for the dogs. You have to be the master in these situations, not the friend. But it requiers a full confidence between both of them. "Ok ! I don't like what you do but you're always good for me, I let you do..." This can only work with the master of course. The greatest risk will ever be with the others, even the good Friends of the master ! Even if you know it for so long, you must keep a distance that Can save your hand or just keep you from injuries... I don't say it's easy, this is a very long term work that needs to be begun very early. But it always stays easier with a dog rather than a human... 😉😉
