20 years later, I am still 17 years old driving through nyc playing 'living in clip' on my cassette player, still coming of age. All those concerts and all those nights of feeling less alone. Ani Di Franco, this Sheryll D. Franko thanks you. forever and ever.
Fuck. I grew up as a kid being introduced to her through my female poet friends. They didnt let me down. I was 15 in 1994 and she was sorta knew and Ive never stopped listening to her. Still amazed by her guitar playing.
"somebody's gotta be interested in how I feel, just cuz I'm here, and I'm real" was the lyric that finally got my friend who I constantly forced to listen to Ani in my car to fall in love with her. And yes, we were 19, or younger.
It’s been so long I have know idea how I came across her music but she’s my absolute favorite musician. I love her music, just something about it, it’s fantastic
I love that the music is flowing out of her in so many ways while doing this song. she is so tapped in and has trouble not sharing the whole of the musical story. She actually looks in pain at one point while trying to maintain the song ballance for those of us not so gifted. A great example of art and music being un a higher plain than most of us can imagine. Beautiful.
