I watched the movie with my british wife (Netflix )yesterday night, She was very proud of the director, producer and the crews . Guys you made me proud of being Nigerian
Splendid movie no doubt. And in pure Yoruba language!! . Now charting top ten on Netflix platforms in about 42 countries!! What the global success of this movie has reminded us is that an African language is not a barrier to the universal acceptance of a film once it has a good story well told, well performed , with a premium production.
Language has never been a barrier. There have been trending movies in other languages all over the world. The only difference is Nollywood is now making better quality movie's
My Dad of over 70 years, not a movie person but fan of Yoruba radio programs, lolzzz. He watched Anikulapo at night, funny part he couldn't just go to bed until he finished watching around past 2 mid night, he remembered all the scene and couldn't stop commending the movie. Great job to all the crews and cast.
The movie, Anikulapo, is vintage. Seamlessly portrays the Yoruba lifestyle during ancient times. The quality, location, design, and costumes were realistically merged to create a story that illumines someone who is not conversant with the culture and style. Everyone involved in the making of the movie did a great job!
@@jimkay2473 did you watch the film at all ? The dude was a cloth weaver, i'sn't that how he met all the queens and Arolake. Abi cloth weaving no be work for your side?
I'm not African, but I enjoyed watching this movie - very good storyline and these 2 main characters brought their A game with the acting 👏🏼. Thank goodness for platforms like Netflix that feature international film productions. Well done! 🎉
Classic, breathtaking, captivating! This movie belong on another level. While I salute all the key players in this movie, I also want to acknowledge Baba Yemi Elebuibon for providing the story. We have been watching him since we were little and it was awesome to see him again in good health. Long live Baba Elebuibon!!!
I have watched, re-watched and rewatched. more than five times ANIKULAPO!!! 😔 A sad story of love and betrayal. When a woman loves a man whole heartedly she's ready to go the distance and through hell with him. Saro was destined to be great right from the time he met Awarun but greed, lack of contentment and promiscuity will never make him fulfilled his destiny. Arolake is caring and love Saro whole heartedly. Mehn!! This is love!!! I can't stop watching and re-watching the pawpaw scene and the river scene which shows that Arolake truly cares for Saro. This made me remember how my wife will do exactly the same when were newly married. In fact the voice she used their sounds like hers. I came back to my senses on Monday 3rd October when I watched this movie and made me appreciate my wife the more. When we were watching the pawpaw and river scene together I smiled deeply and she caught me and understand my reason for the smile. I knew that Bro. Kunle Afolayan will never shoot a cheap movie especially seeing all these Yoruba legendary actors and actresses. Kudos to the entire cast and crew also to Netflix. I wonder the millions spent on this movie which involves these big wig actors and actresses. Kudos!!! PLEASE DON'T LET THIS STORY END THIS WAY. WE NEED THE PART TWO.
I don't think we need a part 2 though...I love the way it ended at Saro's death. Also, the gourd has been destroyed, so what would the story revolve around?
The movie is really good, it also showed how great the Yoruba culture is...there is nothing compare to that unique language and cultural settings. Nice one from Kunle Afolayan!
I was very happy to see old Yoruba actors in it ..it made me remember the days of watching oduduwa, saworode, agogo eewo, sango, etc... Egbon Kunle Afolayan no dey disappoint✌️ Yoruba to the world💃
Same here ,I screamed when I saw them, it's been long I saw them on my screen but I have one question, pls is this Baba Eleso still alive ,I thought he died a long time ago but he was part of the chiefs in the palace.
It was an incredible movie. I like the fact that the same Yoruba language that some people are not proud to train their children with, is getting recognized in the world through the media. Eshey Egbon Kunle Afolayan. And everyone brought their energies to the movie. Kudos to everybody
What I started watching on Netflix was translated (English voice over). Please is there a way to get the original in Yuroba on Netflix? I didn't enjoy the translated one as much. I don't understand it but I will love to watch in the Yuroba
Technically, Arolake made advances first, she literally slept with Saro without thinking twice. But Saro is just an ingrate and a useless man, periodt! But overall, you made magic for us, wonderful, really nice movie. Love it, kudos!!
I didn't just see the movie as a love story. There are many lessons to learn. Betrayal, greediness, promiscuous, pride and negative acts. Many thing to understand from the kind
I don't know if it was just me, but Anikulapo gave me Wole Soyinka literature vibes to be honest. The originality and authenticity, the strong theme of fate. The tragic flaw or Achilles' heel of its protagonist saro eventually leading to his inevitable demise. Ahhh Beautiful!!! Kunle Remi indeed stepped out of his comfort zone it was amazing as for Bimbo wow wow that’s all I can say. Anikulapo is indeed a must watch for any and everyone!
I swear they would make another Banky and Asdesuwa. Energy, Chemistry, every other thing love birds would love to model their relationship after... Characterization was perfect, Coloration, graphics, setting, twists, sound was sublime. Love to see more of this kind of production, most esp to remind and paint the present generation, wht life looks like bck then.
I was expecting the Akala bird to finish Saro when the gourd lost its power. Apart from that, I love the scenery, the beauty of the indigenous language and the entire cast. Great job.
In fact,I so much enjoy it Not all these thuggery life film,or wicked mother in -law film,or olosho film. I am sick and tired of ritualist, ogun owo film. This is the real film to watch. Thank u baba Fayemi Elebuibon for the storyline, thank u Kunle Afolayan, thank u for all the cast and crew.
As a lover of African culture,This movie got me right from the beginning. I mean, kunle Afolayan always gives good content back to back. I really love the movie and will definitely see it again. Hopefully we get to see movies like this from other tribes. African culture is so beautiful
These 2 great stars brought to life the story in this movie! Great to see all the legend and other casts and crews. Storyline is wonderful and impactful.
Anikulapo is a great movie indeed, the crew and everyone involved did a fantastic job. Yoruba culture was well displayed, the location, etc was a wow! I give it to Kunle Remi. Saro wait till I forgive u, Arolake u are a wife indeed!
This movie will go down as one of the greatest Nollywood movies ever... really enjoyed it from the first scene to the last. Always fun to watch Bimbo and Kunle, and kudos to the team behind the movie.
This movie is epic.. from the delivery of the role to the directing and the cinematography, all on point.a very big kudos to Kunle Afolayan for this masterpiece..
Fantastic movie, captivating movie. My daughter and I were glued to the TV for the full 2 hours 22 minutes. Thank you Kunle Afolayan for this epic movie.
I watched it and watched it again and again anytime I am free and I really really enjoy every bit of it. Kudos to director, and all the crews and all the actor and also the producer which is the kings of movies.
Saro.....if I hear pim......fantastic movie...Kunle Afolayan....fantastic man...and all the cast and crew...for a great interpretation ..,God bless u guys
Beautiful beautiful beautiful story line, really in love with the tradition. Appreciate you Mr. Kunle Afolyan for the showcasing our Yoruba tradition that is going into extinction. This is fantastic.
Saro you made me learn that men shouldn’t be ungrateful and should be very careful and discreet of your partner’s imperfections. SARO you really fall arololake’s hand and a man should not do al that you did. Nobody is perfect though but we should forbid such miserable life Saro has displayed in that part of the movie. Overall - 99% kudos.. God bless you all❤
Splendid movie, I love love love this movie. I picked up on a few Yoruba words. Bimbo is a great actress, I just love how she becomes her character. Saro is on another level, nice movie. Could watch it again.
I love u both so much 💕so much and to think u re both my favorite actor and actress in one movie, u guys really did great, right now I think am in love with Yoruba language.
I love yoruba culture and i love the subject call yoruba language throughout my schooling, although am not a yoruba and not even a Nigeria, but i do pass the subject all the time.
God bless Kunle Afo and his crew. This is simply brilliant. it shows we are all unique in our ways and we do not need to speak sophisticated English to make a good movie.
