It's medium length, which is great news as i'm being swamped in my backlog rn. Starting to work through it now though, got a few more ready to go namely record of lodos war, rusted moss and ultros. After that i'll pick this up i think since there's a launch discount. I'm also glad it's medium difficulty, i like the occasional hard game but monster boy is whopping my ass rn and not in a fun way. So i'll take every easy game i can get lol
I normally care more for your compilation videos. But I was intrigued by this game and so I appreciate that you have reviewed the game. I had tried the demo way before and I didn't like it. Thank you for your review.
I beat this over the past 2 days with a total playtime of 8.4 hrs and 100% completion and i thoroughly enjoyed this game! I absoluteley loved the mood & atmosphere, as the game was just overflowing with it. The environmental storytelling was so much better than most other Scifi metroidvania's and while the dialogues were sometimes a bit cringe, the overal worldbuilding especially with the notes was great. I also loved the cutscenes although they were more confusing to me than anything, still they were beautiful to behold as were the visuals. The game was bursting with environmental detail and the assets looked super high rez and crisp. Sound design was good but music was a bit lackluster. I loved the combat but like you i used eileen 90% of the time, she was just more fun to play and also felt quite a bit stronger. I liked the hordes fights which i normally hate in games like sundered but here it just clicked. Especially with a few upgrades shooting them to pulp was lots of fun. The bosses were initially a bit unfair and unfun but once i got the dash i started loving them. The sewer and spider bosses especially were very fun and the right amount of difficult. I also adored the level design because unlike some others the whole elevator system made sense to me and the mazelike feeling of it made the game better imo. I also loved the crusher level with the level spanning puzzle! I love spider lair levels too so the fact that this coincided made this my favorite level for sure. The game was lag/bug free and overal a lovely experience! Really glad i picked this up tbh, i think it may be my 3rd favorite scifi metroidvania right after ultros & ghost song! Hopefully once moadra comes along it can sit with these great scifi metroidvania games!
Glad you enjoyed it! Definitely an awesome addition to the genre! Moadra also looks all kinds of dark sci-fi goodness, I hope it lives up to its potential!
I'm always on the look for good co-op metroidvanias and Anima Flux seems like great fun. Hope the 2 characters get more evenly balanced with time. Looking forward to jump into it!
