I think it's a disservice to humanity that the word "stoic" has been hijacked to mean suppressing one's emotions and demonizing them (toxic masculinity, born of spiritual weakness), when historical Stoicism was anything but that. There's nothing stoic about denying your nature and waging an inner war with yourself. Isn't that supposed to be its antithesis, in fact? It's not _being in control_ of your emotions if you _subdue_ them. You're just letting them control you by your denial of them.

Well, in a way, it is making yourself less reactive, which could make you seem cold and detached. And detachment is definitely a form of stoicism, because you have to be objective and focused on higher principles, rather than your primal, animalistic nature. In that sense, yes, it should ultimately make you feel less emotional and more rational.

That's why maintaining the balance is important. You want to maintain a certain level of general self-awareness and confidence, But without overstepping obvious boundaries. This is also why it's important for women like myself to have a certain level of assertiveness, Because sometimes when we are trying to be a little too feminine, we end up surrendering all of our power to the wrong people, And just suffer because of it. And the truth is, the only people that are going to expect you to surrender all of your power, are probably not the kind of people you want to be around. So that's typically your first cue; If someone is easily put off every time you try to express yourself, that is a huge red flag you should try to avoid.

It's not really a thing. We were raised in patriarchy and taught to have implicit bias towards putting archaic masculine keyed things above archaic feminine ones. It even shows within what choices people make when they are making misandry statements. In cases where women start to cry, complain or get hysterical men get angry or dont feel much at all. What you mean by "emotions" is for the most part the open display of helplessness, for women showing weakness is a good strategy because people care. But for men its the opposite, not only no one cares how they feel, people get actively repelled by such a man. Also it destroys the mens self image if he allows himself to be a bitch in front of others.

Also men get punished for showing weakness very hard not only by other men but by women as well. Nobody care about their feelings, so it doesnt make sense to entertain them. Evolutionarily Women only utilise negative emotion to such an extent, because people actually care about their wellbeing.

In the case of my now ex-husband, his father was cruel. He was physically abusive and taunted my husband and wanted to 'toughen him up'. I think he bottled up a lot of the rage he had towards his father, plus he somewhat envied his father's lack of nurturing and kindness, thinking that was the quality of a 'man'. I think he also really despised his mother who DID display the feminine qualities and also was unwilling/unable to protect him from his father. So his role model was an unfeeling bully who had all the power. His 'nurturing' mother was 'weak' and he certainly knew what happened to you if you were weak......

Right so society has certain gender expectations. We are born with masculine and feminine qualities (in the archetypal sense). We end suppressing some of the qualities we associate with the other gender (we do this to with social morals and that would be your shadow).

I mean, in the grand scheme of things related to any jungian work, much less referring to anything related to the anima or animus, it seems obvious. Although, it's surprising how many people go into Carl Jung's work without keeping the social expectation of suppressing one's "opposed" traits in mind. It actually kinda sucks how people are seemingly encouraged not to be fully integrated. I mean, I know they aren't literally encouraged, but the nuance between being a male with integrated anima and a male who is "like a female" is lost on a child. Crazy as it sounds to us (what with having seen both men with integrated anima and "femmy men" with unintegrated anima), I kinda wish adults understood that it's hard for a kid to understand or grasp. Maybe, focus more on that integration first before harping on the whole gender thing.

Good question. I think they would be super feminine trad-wives, who judge men by their financial status alone, thinking men are meant to be walking ATM machines. They may also be the ones who see men/masculinity as the sole cause of war and violence (toxic masculinity). They are like the flip side of extremely macho men. There is both misogyny and misandry in the world, but misandry is not recognized as much in the media, and it's easier to get away with making hateful comments about men.

It'll look like holding politeness and extreme feminine beauty standards above their own wellbeing. Like going out of their way to deliberately not assert themselves or take up space, even pretending they don't know something they know, so that someone else can do it for them. Interaction-wise with other women, it'll be like avoiding or changing the topic away from anything intellectual/worldly towards topics of children, make-up/clothing, housecare, shaming other women for not having children or for not shaving their legs/underarms. "Act like a lady" talk, so rejecting gauche/awkwardness (gotta be graceful at all times) rejecting social faux pas, and your tastes have to be aesthetically and socially prioritized rather than prioritizing functionality.

For example we can look back at 70 years ago, women were treated with less respect because it was the right of the man. Perhaps in the past they may have also been praised for their traditional behaviours but they were treated with violence anyway, even worse than today, aka their obedience wasn't enough or really appreciate with facts, just with words. The fundamentalism of conservative behaviours is to treat women with contempt, devaluation and submissions, all characteristics related to misogyny to control them, so you're right in that, misogynistic people are somewhat afraid of women and want to control them because they see them as enemies.
