I love animal collective, each album is completely unique in it's own way. Animal collective always feeds my music needs with each new album and I totally love it. I wish more people could enjoy it. This session is really cool, and also reminds me of Sung Tongs. I used to draw to the song "Visiting friends" all the time, it got real hypnotic for me.
Visiting Friends (on headphones) makes me feel like I'm inside some weird red fleshy alien organism, and the part towards the beginning where the vocal "foley" type sounds seem to slowly approach my ear and go inside my head always gives me a physical reaction. Synesthesia can be really beautiful.
tzveters, I'm going through a tough time and keeping coming back to this recording to ease the pain. I just wanna say thanks for posting this, i hope you're resting easy and I love you always.
Fucking yes. Love the soft noise in the background over the guitar melody. Almost sounds like a mash-up between Spirit and Sung Tongs but with Deakin vocals, which sound really nice. Hope their next album will follow this direction, preferably with Panda Bear using a drum set like in Spirit, but that will most likely not happen.
Wow sounds like if Spirit with a little Danse, some HCTI, a dash of Hollindagan, a pinch of Campfire songs/Sung Tungs/ Feels, a touch of MPP, A hint of Centipedehz, an eencie weencie bit of Painting With had a baby with all the in between EPs.
XD Hey a friendly joke came of it, it has its place. For all I know i’m a dumbass and they worded the comment the way that they did as an inside joke for fans. If so then it’s definitely funny, but if not, it’s definitely funny. :P
@@Sound8VisionVibe you're absolutely right m8. I'm too much of a douche at times, thanks for settin me straight. Also, just because I want the band to get some views, check out Mid-air Theif's album on RU-vid for some great new age psychedelic folk. They're from Korea and its a great new release. I think many here would appreciate it
Hey homie don’t get me wrong, I wasn't trying to set you straight, it wasn't douchy and I agree with you and actually laughed pretty hard when I checked my notifications. I can absolutely see how the comment feels like that though, i’ve just been finding it hard lately to not think of everything from multiple angels, and don’t really try to hold it back when I communicate with others, just out of the flow of my mind. Oh man, honestly some Korean psych folk is EXACTY what I need right now, for real. I really appreciate that! If they have a full album on here i’ll add it to my public playlist and help facilitate growth. Peace friend.
He sings a lot in Defeat (which officially released well after you made this comment) and some in Time Skiffs. I don't want to speculate too much but maybe he wasn't confident in his voice until around Centipede? Unless I missed vocals of his in the 2009 material (Fall Be Kind, Merriweather Post Pavilion). But I also know he went on a sort of personal journey traveling to another part of the world to introspect and find his own voice (metaphorically at least) which eventually lead to 2016's Sleep Cycle (Harpy Sketches is great too). If I recall correctly, that's the reason why he wasn't on Painting With. So my speculative potential answer is, he didn't feel comfortable or confident enough to sing more until sometime between Merriweather and Centipede.
I really hope they opt for a stripped down sound like this for their next album, the sound of Centipede Hz was too messy, this pulls the melodies out a lot more.
I love this but anyone who's saying that want them tour an album of this kind of stuff clearly hasn't seen them live since mpp came out, it just wouldn't hold a candle to the sonically epic shows they put on now
