Animal Crossing Changing the PLAYER of the Island REPRESENTATIVE Badly. 

Also the only other way I figure you could change the island representative account is by doing a whole ass island transfer between two switches, when you switch back it asks you the same thing. So if you need to not delete an account and you got two, you could do that. But not worth it if youre gonna lose another island because of it.

I have the physical copy of the game and had this situation so i took my chances and can confirm that after deleting the users I didnt want whatever user I kept was given the option to keep the island I have already started on! This video was helpful thanks!

I bought the game myself and thought it would be easy to move progress, but nope, was coming to terms with deleting a whole day's worth of work. Thanks so much. Family members can be cruel. My kiddo is handling it better today. Life isn’t fair and sometimes, even when you pay for something, if it isn’t set up to be *yours* whether because it’s a boyfriend/girlfriend, family, etc…. you can lose it. It’s a tough lesson but learning to bounce back is the best lesson to be learned here. This is the last time this can ever happen as I’m getting a her a new switch for Christmas. Well, hopefully. We’ve left an abusive situation w/ her father and between threats on my life, attacks like this on my daughter.. it’s taking longer to get life back on track. The island situation is just one of many things being done to my daughter and I because we said enough and moved out. Thank you SO MUCH for this!! This worked for me. My ex let me keep his switch and unfortunately he purchased animal crossing on his account that I was playing under. So what I did was exactly as you said, I made sure that my user associated with my own Nintendo account didn't have a villager on the island. I made a "burner account" aka a "Bob" and set up a new villager on the island. Then deleted mg ex's user account from the switch. Unfortunately I needed to purchase the game under my Nintendo account/user. Then I was able to start the game under my own user and have my game back as the island representative as I'd always been under my ex's account. Hope that helps clarify for anyone wondering without a physical copy!

Hello! Im a bit scared to do this so you can answer a tiny question? If I do this with one account having the digital game (a friend's account) and the other having the physical game (my account) and I delete the account that has the digital game, it would work the same way?

I don’t want to delete a user. If I just delete the player data of the user who is the island representative, does this option still come up? I don’t want to restart the entire game just so my user can be the island representative.

Or the user account monty is controling the old samioni character? Im asking because my gf wants her character to be the representative, not possessing mine. Thanks!

@Samioni I'm trying to change the Island Representative to my user profile, since my daughter was the first one to start the game. Doesn't work at all for me. Am I missing something? There's four users on our island/switch. When deleting the representative profile from the switch, the other profiles starts up the game just like normal. When adding the deleted user to the switch again and starting the game, the game prompts me to select her user as representative again.

I have a few questions 😅 So my friend gave me his switch and I blindly started an an island while logged on his account. Would I still be able to transfer it? I have the physical copy. Do I need to do the island backup before attempting this? Do I need be logged in on my own Nintendo switch account when I create the second user?

And on your new switch if it tells you thank there’s currently multiple residents on the switch, do you have to delete the island representative on the original switch? Or can you just proceed as a resident your already are, so then would you become the new island resident?

I'm still confused. If i delete the user who is the resident rep, do I lose the island and all players on it, or does another user become the rep?

hi there @Samioni. Well done on the video which I stumbled across my browsing. I sympathise and relate with that prompt. Fell into a similar thing when I was impatient and tried to use e-copy of ACNH, and it was stuck in limbo. That prompt for checking licensing is annoying (mores when you have a PHYSICAL copy IN the switch at the time of alunch) Question(s) (which I might have missed despite watching over): * Had the Monty character played yet on this island to the established island when samioni was the representative? * ^^ In regards to above, wouldn't deleting samioni just leave Monty as an orphaned 'rogue' user? as a result you ended up with 2 orphans (Monty and token bob) * Since we don't know what Samioni looked like, confirming that THE Monty was used when game was launched (confused as you'd said "You change the user but the character stays the same" at 9:30 ). Not sure if you launched as Monty but became Samioni. * Confirming the result of this that Monty keeps all possessions etc, and that was Monty's house that you come out of when the game was first launched (since you'd mentioned the house/tent would remain despite deleting the user)

I am trying to move my character to a new switch (my mom took my old one) but I am the island representative. If I delete my user will I still have everything and be able to move to my new island with all my stuff? I am scared of losing everything I had previously.

You forgot to mention that you have the cartridge inside the switch while doing this. If you do it with one digital copy it will not let you start the program.

Wonder if I could get assistance on one last step. I have everything down to my “bob” character on the island. Can I buy a digital copy of ACNH on my account, which is on my switch, delete my sons account which had the island first, then launch ACNH on my account and take rep spot? Ok-- Can anyone help me with my situation??? I have an island on my switch v1 - this island is a digital download and has me as the island representative. I have two other people playing on this island. I dont know if itll be possible- but I want to change the representaive from me to my aunt who is already on the island and leave my grandmother as a 2nd player on the island. I dont mind getting rid of my house and my character- but I want my aunt to be able to play as herself... we dont want to loose this island.... is there a way to do this-- cause the video is confusing me...

My daughter has played for 4 years with a physical card on our switch. We “bought” the switch from her uncle and he is estranged. He changed the email log in so now she’s locked out of her account. She is 11 yrs old! This is 4 yrs of work on this island and I want to know… will this work? Will she have access to everything the island rep had but with a new email address on the new switch? She owns her character, the actual switch and put in 4 yrs of work!!! For him to lock her out of her account for issues between adults in her life is just unfair… and yes, I know life is unfair. I’m just hoping, praying! that this may work. When you say new character comes in and takes over as Island rep, does that mean losing the original island reps house, storage, bells?? I’m not sure if I’m supposed to transfer the entire island add “Monty” and “Bob” to the new save and then delete her, to allow “Monty” to take her place?? As in live in her house, have access to her storage and bells but as a new character with a new email address. Believe me, I NEED to delete her uncle from our family group. I took away adult privileges as I am family admin but I don’t want to kick him from the family entirely until we figure out how to make a new representative, while keeping her hard work! She can play as my character but I rarely played and don’t have recipes learned, extensive inventory and the bells that she has accumulated. Any advice is appreciated!!! Hello! It’s been two years and I have some questions but I’m not sure if you’re able to answer them. 1. Will the new character (in your case it’s Monty) be living in the old characters house and have the old characters furniture? 2. Will Monty still be able to live in their own home 3. Will Samioni’s home disappear or will it just become empty? 4. If Samioni’s home stays then will some other character be able to stay in that home?

I’m so pissed off. My brother bought the game on my console. Became the mayor. I spent WAY more time than he did and played for months. He has a switch now. Transferred himself to a new swicth and now my town has no mayor and we can’t do anything that requires a mayor

If ONE of us has a Nintendo online account, and we both play n the same island(same console), she the representative, me a parasite that lives on the island, can we both benefit from online features if one account has Nintendo Online? (Playing online, visiting other islands, etc.)

On my switch all 3 of my siblings and me made our nintendo accounts and stuff. I dont know who made the island as theres 2 other people on the island and i havent played on the switch for like 2 years, so ill have to figure that out, and see who is the owner of the island. The problem is that in this video you said that you needed the dlc and well… i dont have it. So im not sure if i try to do this, if itll work. But i dont have a choice! Its either i stay softlocked or i do smt about it and have a 50/50 chance of losing all my hardwork. I have to grind nook miles on one of my sisters acc to see if they are the owner or not. Wise me luck! (Please tell me if i DO or do not need the dlc)

So I deleted the original island resident but it says that the original island resident is still there although i deleted the account

What I want to know is how you got the same island on multiple Switches because I have not been able to get anything to work to transfer my island to a second Switch.

Just to inform anyone who's confused because I got confused with the whole Monty naming 1. Can you switch your representative to an already EXISTING account/island resident? Answer is no you can't, you have to make a brand new account to take over as representative and you'll be playing as the old representative's villager 2. Does deleting the main account for the island delete the island itself? Nope, as long as you have second resident (in any case a bob) on the island, it will remain but remember, you can't be a representative (Also DO NOT DELETE SAVED DATA, delete the player if you want to keep the island)
