I need to drop the realism. My brain goes "where's the water coming from tho" and I can't add water unless it's connected to a river/pond 😭 I'm going to try it out though, my island is so boring. Gonna try these out before the expansion/update!

Please do more videos like this. I have had the game almost a year and basically have a trash hoarder island lol. I want to decorate & terraform but it feels so overwhelming at this point. Videos like this, straight to the point, are really helpful for ideas!

I dunno what it says about me, but I _deliberately_ took a light touch with terraforming my island (at least as far as adding water and carving out cliffs). I used it to form approaches for ramps and bridges, to provide access to certain parts of the island that didn't require a ladder, vaulting pole, or leaping a gap (I carved out a path to Redd's beach before it even did anything), and to fix features on my island that made no sense to me (my island generated two random "ponds" that had a waterfall between them; I removed the waterfall because it didn't make sense to me, and I'd only had one "natural" pond at the time which had limited my fishing options). Most of my island is pretty much laid out as it was when I started. Paths, on the other hand...I went crazy with those. They crisscross my island, connecting every part of the island with every other part of the island. One major thing I like to be able to do is go quickly from one place to the other, and the fewer times I have to pull out the vaulting pole or the ladder, the better. I also am not particularly big on having parts of the island "all to myself" (that is, villagers can't access them), so one of my early goals was to make sure that villagers could conceivably go everywhere I could (due to limitations, they don't show up in, for example, the airport, but there's nothing theoretically blocking them from going there). This may not sit well with others who prefer nooks, crannies, and secrets, but I always preferred to be able to go everywhere on my island easily. I think I managed to achieve that, but in a way that's still at least somewhat visually interesting. My island probably won't win any awards for "best island" but I still like what I've done with the place. As for my island entrance...well, mine kind of made itself. I chose an island layout that put the main plaza directly north of the airport--and by that, I mean you can easily see the plaza when you step out of the airport. My initial idea was for a more rural island, where its natural beauty was basically left intact, but certain buildings like the museum, as well as the upgraded plaza, made it difficult to achieve that on the entire island. I eventually decided on a compromise, turning the airport/plaza area into a town center, with the rest of the island going toward something of a nature-trail theme. (The campsite ended up in a back corner of the island because it fit better with the natural part of the island than the town center, but the shops and museum are all clustered around the plaza.) To fill in gaps between the buildings there, I added little parks and mini-plazas, as well as paths both ringing and connecting to the plaza. In the end, I feel that this made for a more interesting island design than it would have been with just the natural theme. I love your island entrance! I did something similar, large cliffs on both sides with a lot of waterfalls and the flat wooden bridge. (and I love how you passive-aggressively went on those little rants about the state of the game. Feels very relatable at the moment)

another great video! this is super helpful, i really want to create some super awesome terraformed island, but the execution just sucks when i try. these tips will hopefully help me make something cooler! i too love the narrow, windy paths so it's nice to get tips from someone who's kinda thinking along the same wavelength as you.

As far as terraforming goes, there’s a lot to think about, most importantly, I think is visibility of the overall island, and fully utilizing whether to use cliffs in a specific area at all, or how to angle them as to not obstruct the view of something else, which is something that I’ve really struggled with.

I love your island, even though mine is very different, probably more different than anyone can even imagine! Nobody has ever seen it so I can't help but describe. I started terraforming by making a stone path as close as possible to the sea, all around the island. That of course required cutting back the mountains on the north side, to make room for the seaside path. Then I flattened about 1/4 of my island in the back, around Redd's beach, and covered that part of my island with sand (removing the path in that part of the island) so it makes a desert. Great place for the pyramid and other sculptures like the Warrior Statue and the Motherly Statue, and two money trees. These are all very widely separated so you can't see them all at once, and that way you get a feeling of tremendous space and how remote it is. Near the edge of the desert there is one small sunbathing spot. I like your entry! I might think about that and figure out something vaguely similar that I could do with fences and a bridge near the entry. Right now, there's the path-around-the-island there, and villagers homes line the path on that side of the island.

I love my island entrance and would love to hear what others think about it. The rest of my island is a bit bland in comparison though. It would be really neat to see unique ideas about terraforming though.

I’ve played anch since it first came out. But periodically. I’ve been using free treasure islands to finish upgrading. Specifically royal crowns. I just unlocked the storage cabinets I’ve been WAITING for.

Nintendo should add gyroids. I like how they sing to the rhythm to kk slider songs and make wacky noises

I have waterfalls all over, with flowers or statues, etc. It either goes into a pond or a river I made on the second or third levels. I wish I knew there was a way to save your Island before making a new one.

I like my island to be looking like a small yoej, although I have some unique things, like a fake main Street like there was in new leaf

My island is boring but I actually like it. I love dream visiting islands that are nice. Love this island! But I am fine with my boring island too

I don't have too many interesting features on my island, unfortunately my sister-in-law complained at me enough that she got me to take out my winding paths, but I do have My hidey hole and a couple of interesting features around the museum, One of which is a kind of waterfall sculpture garden that is best viewed standing in the center of a bridge and panning your camera up. The other is My double waterfall in front of the museum with a ring shaped island in the splash pool. My sister-in-law calls it my donut pond.

I suck at terraforming. I’m in the middle of making a kidcore island and now I want to destroy everything and start over on everything I worked hard on. But I wanna finish it before I do that though :/

After 3 weeks of playing acnh I just unlocked terraforming but i think i would delay it for now because lack of bells ( i still have goddamn loans ) and also need it to relocate cost. lot of diy items i havent discovered yet so my plan was just play like i normally does to settle house loan and relocate before redesign but well i did few jobs like connecting the land with other land to make my life easier so i dont need to vault there and there

Idk why, but I'm somehow struggling to cooperate with the terraforming- eveytime I get an idea and do it, even planned and everything- the next second it doesn't look good anymore and I remove everything again. I'll probably make an island with no cliffs at all,exept I need it in a lake🤣🤣
