Animal Crossing is one of my absolute favorite video game series, especially when it comes to VGM soundtracks. This transcription is meant to be as accurate as possible to the original arrangement. While the Ukulele is very prominent in the beginning, later in the song it takes a bit of a backseat to the rest of the accompaniment.
*NOTE
At 0:15, there are three notes played one at a time. While the Tab/Notation/Performance is accurate, the fretboard diagram shows these notes 1 fret lower than they should be.

Hey - not sure if someone has mentioned this already, but I believe the three plucked notes at 0:15 are played a half step higher than it shows on the left. I think you play it right too, but the left doesn't match what you're doing. Thanks for a great tutorial though!!

Wow, you're right - on the fretboard diagram those three notes are indeed a half step too high. I swore I triple checked everything too... luckily everything else is accurate at that part. I appreciate you pointing this out! If you (or anyone else reading) catches anything else in my videos please don't hesitate to tell me. I try to make my transcriptions as reliable as possible. I will add a note in the description about this part. Thanks again!

I recently bought myself an electric ukulele to play on the evening when I finish working without disturbing my neighbours and this is the first song that I learned with it and it turned out that mine is also a Risa uke solid :) I love it tho and looking forward to play the song ^^ cheers mate

Yeah it's a pretty neat uke! I actually got it about 6 years ago, but unfortunateIy dont remember what site it was from. I originally came across one in a small music store and went searching online for it a while after. What I do know is that it is a solid body, concert size electric ukulele by the company Risa.

I agree Wild World is still my favorite, but I also really really love the original. I played a lot on the Gamecube so that nostalgia is pretty strong for me 😄 I really like the New Horizons theme too after spending some time with it. So I guess the only theme I dont care so much for is the one for New Leaf.

Hi! The Tab, Sheet Music, and Animated Fretboard are the same thing that I'm playing, just with a different view. During that lick at 0:15, you can look at the fretboard on the left and the dots will show where I'm fretting. It's 3 notes plucked one by one - I use my index finger in the video, but you could use your thumb instead if you want! I'd be happy to go into further detail and explain any part of the song, so please dont hesitate to ask!

At 0:18, the lower d note says that it isn’t flat just a normal d note but the higher d note says it’s flat with matches with the tabs but the lower d doesn’t. I don’t know if that makes sense but I’m confused at that part

This is a great question. Basically, those 4 flats in measure 8 apply to every B E A D regardless of octave. So the flat you are referring to actually applies to the D below the staff as well. Let me know if you have any more questions! This all has to do with Key Signatures.

I notice some of the fingering dots are behind the first fret. there are also Xs back there. As a self taught ukulele player, can someone tell me what the Xs are and also why the dots are behind that?

Hi there! So the dots in that situation mean the string should be played open. The X means that the string should either not be played, or should be "muted" by lightly touching the string but not pressing down. Very nice video! Does having the tuning pegs against you like that mess up the tuning?

Thanks! Great question. So first of all, the tuning pegs actually have gears in them so when you turn them, it's not a 1:1 tuning ratio, and they are pretty stiff once turned. So I've never bumped them out of tune. However, due to the intense break angle and some nuances with the tuning machines it's kind of a pain to get this thing tuned up in the first place. This is probably my main complaint with the design of this ukulele.

Hey, thanks for watching! Since we are on the topic of my complaints with this uke I will tell you another 😂 Instead of a more common C shape, the neck is actually really rectangular! I play a lot of chords using my thumb and it makes it really uncomfortable. Also there is practically no radius to the frets so barring is a little uncomfortable as well. Anyway, I've had this uke for years and could blab about it all day so if you want to know anything else just ask 😀

I always mess up on 0:46-0:49, but I'll probably get it eventually with practice

Definitely some complicated grips in that measure. If your hands are big enough to wrap your thumb around to fret the G string, i find that to be the most efficient. I started practiced this part by leaving the G string open for that first chord in measure 20. That way I could focus on moving that "G7" shape to the adjacent strings. Once I had that, I just grabbed that first fret with my thumb. Kind of confusing, I know. Hope it helps though!

If there is a dot above the fretboard diagram, or a zero on the Tab, that means to play the string "open" (without pressing it down on against a fret) Hope that helps! Let me know if you have more questions.

In this video the X means to keep that string silent. Sometimes it requires the string to be "muted" by lightly touching it without pressing it down. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask! 😀

Yes. For example, in the very first chord that is what I'm doing with my middle finger. It will still make a small "thump" sound, but it will be covered up by the sound of the notes on the other strings.

The backing track is basically the original track with some EQ tweaks. I will look into posting it, my main concern is receiving some sort of copyright strike on my channel, so I'd rather not guarantee anything. If it was a backing track I recorded myself that would be a different story. But thank you for watching! I'll let you know if I find a way to make it available.

what do the X mean? you dont play that string? If thats the case, then how do you not play the string when you strum if theres an X in the middle of the diagram?

Yes, I put X for strings that should not make any notes. Sometimes there is an X in the middle of the chord. In this situation the string must be lightly touched so that when you strum it it simply makes a small "thump" sound instead of a note. Hope that helps! Let me know if you have more questions!
