All these great resort tours you do, I'm more confused now about where I want to stay when I come after all the pandemic stuff is over. I like that they used actual plates and such instead of paper. That's nice. Thank you!
Hello! Wonderful tour. Thank you. I was wondering as traveling solo would you recommend booking a deluxe studio savanna view vs the 1 bedroom standard view. Like the home feel of the one bedroom however it’s a standard view. Thoughts on that? Price is an only $30 more for the 1 bedroom. Thus my dilemma.
Strictly comparing DVC rooms (not the hotel rooms), quite a few things are different besides the rooms (check the tours to see all the differences, but mainly Kidani has an extra bathroom in 1br and larger). Pre-shutdown differences: > Kidani has 1 real restaurant - Sanaa - it's quick service for breakfast and table service for lunch and dinner. They also have "grab and go" in the gift shop which is where you'll find the refillable mug station, and the pool bar which has a couple quick service sandwiches. > Jambo has 3 restaurants - Jiko (signature), Boma (buffet), and Mara (quick service/food court). They also have Victoria Falls Lounge, and a pool bar. > Kidani is the first pickup for buses, and Jambo is the second (except for Disney Springs which is reversed). That means Jambo buses may be full or nearly full before they get to you > Kidani has a parking garage under the building, and Jambo only has a parking lot. > Jambo has a much larger gift shop. > Jambo fitness center is larger and has a sauna and Kidani doesn't. > Jambo has a spa. > Rooms can be much farther from the lobby in Kidani. > Jambo has a larger pool but Kidani has a longer water slide. > Kidani has a better kids pool/splash area. Now since the reopening, things are different because Jambo ONLY has DVC rooms available, not normal hotel rooms, so most of that resort is still closed. The only things that are open are the pool, pool bar (with very limited hours) and I believe the fitness center was open last we were there too. The gift shop, all other dining locations, and sauna/spa are not open.
Nothing can beat coming into the Jambo lobby, but I love the extra bathroom in the 1 bedroom and larger at Kidani. The best thing about AKL is that you can enjoy the amenities at both Kidani and Jambo no matter which place you stay. The pool at Kidani pool has a big splash pad and a larger slide. We love the animals near both pool areas. (Okapi near Kidani pool and flamingos and others near Jambo).
There is a small grocery section at the resort for basic things (bread, milk, frozen pizzas, etc). The nearest grocery store (Target) is 10-15 minutes away. It’s usually easier to order groceries and have them delivered to the resort.
