Starfire afraid of clowns. Starfire. A DC character. In a DC universe. Clowns. She's afraid of them. They could have put the Joker in this episode, is what I'm saying. Thank GOD they didn't because I'm pretty sure it would have killed Mark Hamill.
I'm afraid not even Mark Hamil Joker could save this episode. Or this show. The only way to save this show is to kill it now. Before it grows any further.
Thank you so much for tearing this episode apart. This was the episode that exploded tumblr a week ago and this episode is by far the worst episode of the show. The beginning was basically a F*** you to the audience and the rest was just adding salt to the burns by saying cartoons are meant for kids and we all know that's not the case. There's just so much wrong with this episode, this show and the writers. Please just end it!!!
Redcord CHN Not to mention it was an original project that kept to itself and not screw things around too much just to make certain episodes be what they were in the first place.
Crazy Luigi It makes me feel strange to say that a series is worse than Johnny Test. But this series does it. It makes one of the worst shows to be animated be a welcome respite. Hell, I've been saying "Man I wish i could watch Johnny Test right now" and then not slap myself in shock.
Redcord CHN You know what? I can't believe I'm saying this, but if I could trade this show for Johnny Test, I would. At least Johnny Test's awfulness doesn't taint everything around it. EDIT: Okay, it kind of does, but at least it doesn't insult Teen Titans.
*9:11* Exactly. Alex Hirsch based Gravity Falls off his childhood self and sister and their adventures, and the places he visited in Oregon. Shigeru Miyamoto and Satoshi Tajiri were inspired to create The Legend of Zelda and Pokémon game series because they wanted to emulate their favorite childhood experiences in a way that the next generation of children would be just entertained by.
Timmy Reobed As Mr Enter has alluded to before, Family Guy suffers from this big time. Their show is unkillable, and they know it, so now they throw around their dicks like they just don't care because no one is getting in trouble for it. The ego is real.
Oh boo-hoo, TTG writers. No one wants to watch bull crap like Johnny Test anymore and now you're upset because you have to compete with writers who put actual effort into their shows. To quote the timeless words of Mr. Krabs "let me play you a sad song on the worlds smallest violin"
seriously. I mean if you are going to make an episode dedicated to attacking critics (which is already sad and retarded to begin with) it helps to comprehend the faintest fucking thing about what you are being criticized for. all this episode succeeded in doing was making the writers look like whiny fucking tools. also, I've seen you frequently on the Drunken Peasants, didn't know you watched Mr enter too.
Victor Hernandez oh no, not as a guest or anything, Ableist Joe is just a very familiar face from the DP comment section. He's always leaving very funny or insightful comments that get a shitload of +1s
Ableist Joe There is no "competing" you do realize that pretty much all the CN staff intermingle and are friends. I feel like people who get in a huff about Teen Titans Go are wildly missing the point.
Alex Hirsch once said kids will watch anything in the same way a starving man will eat anything. If all CN airs is TTG!, kids will watch TTG!. Soooo let me ask something, since I'm not watching this actual episode: Why is Raven giving a speech about how clowns are for kids only, while watching MLP? Like is this addressed? If not... well we can add another one on the hypocrisy pile. Also this version of BB and Cy would totally love clowns. That is exactly the kind of stupid humor they like. (Not that I'm surprised at the OOC). At this point, I've given up on the show. I'm not reviewing it, I'm not watching it, and I try not to even acknowledge it. After those interviews, I feel as if the people behind this really don't care at all, like children giggling about how they phoned in their homework. The fact that they go out of their way to address their detractors in such a petty and demeaning way is pathetic. I usually don't give a crap about what morals this thing puts out, because they're usually misguided jokes, but THIS, this is them with a straight face saying cartoons are for kids exclusively and if you don't like our show, it's your fault for not being in our age demo. To the people that like TTG!: THIS is why people are still "hating" on this show. The show responded to the "hate" so naturally the internet will respond back. If this thing had just stayed in it's corner and did it's own thing, there would be less "haters" still talking about it. Heck, if it was called "5 Kid Heroes Who Goof Off and Such" starring different looking characters with different voices, I guarantee the internet would have hated it, then moved on. Rather than giving you what you wanted: Slade, the show would rather take the time to insult people who hate the show. That shows the priorities of this show.
Can I just say something that makes this episode 10 times worse. This show tried to play the, "stop trying to make kids entertainment dark, we're worried about the effect it will have on children" card, but the resolution of the episode was Starfire committing murder. Murdering an innocent guy who was just trying to do his job before being tortured by two legitimately awful characters. Thats... far darker than anything the original ever did, and its done for no reason. Theres a lot of reasons to hate this piece of shit, but for some reason that one is the worst.
Teen titans Go: giving lessons about not letting nostalgia get in the way of life...WHILE IT BANKS ON NOSTALGIA FROM THE 2003 ORIGIONAL SHOW FOR IT'S AUDIENCE! I'm just gonna get this out: Johnny Test may not have been all that good, it may have lasted way too long, and it may have killed the Inspector Gadget comic (no joke, Free Comic Book day copy of the first IG comic came with a Johnny test comic) But, it was trying to do it's own thing (albeit with a similar format to other shows made before) and it didn't deliberately try to insult the audience.
+DarksideEXE "giving lessons about not letting nostalgia get in the way of life..." So your telling me we should like the new tmnt 2014 movie even though it has a lot of problems as a standalone? Nice logic there buddy.
psgaming101 Craup Actually that movie kind of banks on nostalgia from the first TMNT movie (seriously they copy ALOT of the same notes) and you not realising the ending steals from Amazing Spiderman.
DarksideEXE Still the movie has a lot of problems. Tmnt movie was okay tmnt 2 was alright 3 Wtf am I watching. tmnt 2007 was surprisingly decent. Tmnt 2014 it could be worse than part 3. Eh I do not know which is more worse 2014 or tmnt 3?
I wouldn't be surprised if this is how the creators' meeting with Ron Perlman went... Hey, Ron! Hey, what do you want? Well, we'd like you to return as the voice of Slade in this episode of Teen Titans Go! We have the script right here! *Ron Perlman looks at script* *Grabs a flamethrower* *Incinerates script* No.
3:55 They purchased a really bad clown. If they had gotten a good and experienced clown, they would have seen that clowns are for *all* ages. This parallel here could have been a better lesson.
+Ivan Simpson You know what I don't get, how come this show gets to reference other DC comic characters like Batman and Superman but the original couldn't. Seriously they could've made the entire final season with the titans taking on bigger threats like Lex Luther and teaming up with the Justice League!
+James Porter I think it was showing that the focus is on the people who would usually be the sidekicks. It isn't about Batman, it's about the Titans, but it's acknowledging him in a way that isn't blatant. That's just my opinion though.
+Ilikebats123 I know but I just thought it would've shown them grow more by occasionally working alongside Justice League members to fight larger threats. They could'v even made an entire season finale just about just them fighting the joker or darkseid.
+James Porter It was stated by the creators that they avoided any actual references to Batman because they wanted Robin to grow of his own accord into his own character. They didn't want to hold that character growth back by reminding people of the hero who is basically supposed to be his better.
This episode was a big middle finger to people who watch the original show and people who hold on to their childhood. This show will never inspire me to become a cartoonist ever!!
Actually this show kind of got me started in my cartooning career. I am a 15 year old aspiring cartoonist, and I got started in my career when I was eleven, when I re-drew a Garfield strip with Garfield dressed as Raven. I actually have many TTG inspired ideas in my comics, for instance I have something in which Raven and Beast Boy brain-swap with Blue and Periwinkle of Blue's Clues. If you think about how vastly different these two shows are, you'll realize how hilarious the idea is.
Oni Bank Yeah I just finished Sons of Anarchy (My new favorite show next to Breaking Bad.) and seeing him on that would just be all the more depressing.
Oni Bank And also he isn't stupid enough to voice act one of the most terrafying cartoon villians from the original Teen Titans show into this garbage.
What really confuses me about the Teen Titans Go mentality of "This is for a younger audience, don't expect quality" is, besides that mentality being vastly idiotic in the first place, is why bother having them be the Titans? If you're making a sequel-show, it's usually because you want to attract the fanbase of the old show. But TTG's active message to it's critics is one of "It's not meant for the fans of the original." So again I ask, why bother making it related to the original? Or even them be the Titans at all? If the creators really just want to make a silly toddler-aimed cartoon akin to Breadwinners or modern-Spongebob, no harm done; more power to them. But by making it Teen Titans, all they've done is amassed a hatred by old fans and the older audience it assembled. So anyone who remembers the old show immediately hates this one and the actual target demographic don't know the old show and generally don't care about the connection. I'm sorry... I don't see the advantage. To me, it just looks like they should made a normal kid's cartoon and leave DC out of it.
A parody makes fun of something to prove a point. Usually it is a criticism in disguise. 'A Modest Proposal' drew attention to the callous attitudes of rich people towards the poor by taking it up a notch. "Gosh, all those poor children no one helps are such a problem, let's just eat them, it can be like fine cuisine!" This is "waffles waffles...hey, you, legitimate critics of the show, you all are pussies, it's a kid's show, it's your problem for expecting anything intelligent, fuck you...also bronies are fucktards!"
+mattwo7 are you serious? Do they really think that weird al would be the best voice for darksied? If there was any person in the world to voice him he be the last person to expect
Because it's basically telling us that adults can't watch kids' cartoons. I love Sofia the First. I'm still an adult. I love it because it's well written, creative, funny, and beautifull drawn. Just because a show is aimed at children doesn't mean that it has to be childish and it doesn't mean that adults can't enjoy it.
So Robin says "Clowns were never cool.", but in this episode, clowns are allegories for cartoons, so they're basically just admitting that their show isn't cool. Why the fuck would you do that?
+PairofPliers Because this show has a very loose sense of logic. It seems to think this way: "We're so awesome because we can make jokes. If you think we're stupid or bad, then you don't have a right to say anything!"
+Scarlet Sho Actually it's worse than that. In "The Fourth Wall" they show they are aware that the show is terrible. It hates itself, to the point where they drag other shows down with it. It's like an animated show personification of Kefka from Final Fantasy VI.
This is almost as embarrassingly counterintuitive as "Shake It Off." "Look at us! We're so awesome! We'll show you haters!" No, no you won't. You'll just end up looking like a little kid stamping his foot, shouting, "You guuuuuuys, stop picking on meeeeeeeee!" Calling out your "haters" or critics never makes you look cool. It makes you look desperate for validation.
Jr_Manits-Brigade Or Funnybot from South Park, which was basically them saying that they'll never win as Oscar because they're too edgy. Hell, even without that shitty message that episode was still boring as fuck.
I'm glad they didn't put Slade in this horrible show, it was gut wrenching enough seeing what a complete mockery they made out of Trigon, I can't even begin to think what they might have done with Slade, one of the most badass villains in cartoon history...
Jacob Gerber And now, I imagine that scene in X-Men First Class with Wolverine, Professor X and Magneto, but with Ron Perlman instead of Wolverine and the guys making TTG instead of the 2 others... XD
TravisChinchilla I know. I just said that I imagined the same scene going on because of the guy saying that Ron Perlman probably threatened the writers of TTG when they approached him for Slade's voice...
Right. And about that, Trey Parker and Matt Stone are guys who still love cartoons as adults, and they grew up in a time when anybody who watched cartoons and was over the age of 10 was considered immature. So they decided to make a cartoon specifically aimed at teenagers and adults. And guess what? They did the exact same thing Cyborg and Beast Boy did in this episode! And hey, South Park is immensely popular. In its early days, it was considered controversial, and had parents' groups lobbying against it, but nowadays, we've come to accept that cartoons aren't just for kids, and shows like South Park have come to be widely accepted. Raven, girl, you were WROOOONG!!!!
@@unicornbunny5439 that's why some parodies and teen shows are labeled as entertainment for children and you can't comment on them. Or how "don't hug me, I'm scared" was labeled for kids because it had puppets in it. Just because it's a cartoon or has puppets in it doesn't mean it's for kids.
CatMaster90001 Though some voice actors for children's shows to feel like that. Tara Strong does talk to her adult fan base though, mainly because we kind of grew up with her voice (Powerpuff Girls->Raven->Juliet Starling->Twilight Sparkle). And Tabitha St. Germain, the voice of Rarity as well as various background ponies constantly shares fan art on twitter of her character. Even though I prefered her as Roberta in Black Lagoon.
The Sentient Ditto Yes, that's certainly true... Though I'm not sure if she'd openly admit to feeling emotional pain from recording the shit dialogue she's given in Toddler Titans, at least while she's still under contract. I'm sure as soon as that shit show is cancelled, she'll gladly announce how awful it was to work under such duress.
*A message to all of the Teen Titans Go fans who are angry about both Mr. Enter's reviews and all of the negative comments regarding the show below:* If random strangers on the internet having different opinions and viewpoints than your own over a cartoon actually causes you such emotional distress that you honestly feel the need to verbally attack them with spiteful insults and baseless accusations in the comments, then allow me to lend you a helpful and reasonable piece of advice: grow up. EDIT: I'm well aware that not every Teen Titans Go fan is like this and that there are some polite ones who are attempting to discuss things rationally in the comments. My above comment is not directed towards you people at all. In fact, I greatly appreciate your civility and maturity. My above comment can also be applied to the immature Teen Titans Go detractors who are attacking calm people attempting to defend the show. Remember that civility is a two-way street.
Guh. If there's one consolation prize to all this, it's that Ron Perlman's certain to be earning his acting paychecks from more worthwhile material than this. Also gotta love how the writers come across as a lot more childish than the kids they claim to be making this for... Ugh. I don't think I'd watch this show even ironically.
I just feel bad for everyone who had to come back to voice their characters in this way. And I know it's the writer's and probably a stipulation in a contract fault
Nelson Demifur Heck it's a miracle they made over 100 stupid episodes that really should've ended in less then 15 episodes. On Top of that CN needs to get their brains check much like how Nickelodeon already lost theirs, in reminding what kinds of shows make a good entertainment.
Star Gamer 3120 1:04 haha haha hahaha that's creators telling us to kiss their assess haha hahaha ,they surely mistaken you mess with one fan of tt you mess with the whole damn fan base including non tt fans
At this point, I just don't understand HOW people can still like this show! This show literally keeps getting worse, and although I was beyond done after Boys vs Girls, this damn show still manages to stoop lower. This show re runs more daily than it should. Hours of TTG each day, and Cartoon Network AND Boomerang, when I'd rather watch SU or Gumball or Regular Show. This show is worse than the entirety of CN Real. TTG either needs to pull its shit together or get canceled, and sadly neither will happen....
Adrian Bryan The problem is I actually liked CN Real. Level Up and Incredible Crew were pretty decent shows and the former got canned way too early for something that had a really awesome video game plot going on. TTG on the other hand is just sad. Its even worse because they've resorted to showing it 10 times a day for no reason other than to boost ratings.
icecream hero Eh. I liked the sketch comedy a bit better than bastardizing already existing characters. It was better than Awesomeness TV that's for sure which was nothing more than Nick trying to shamelessly rip off their previous success with All That. Some of the sketches on IC were pretty bad admittedly but most of them were pretty funny. And Finn's VA was in it and I like Jeremy Shada. TTG is just all around bad since not only did they use Slade as a ratings trap for their 100th episode, Mr. E forgot to mention that second subtle dig at MLP's 100th episode. When Raven was talking about all the plot points coming together and such, especially with all the Brony digs in this episode, its a jab at the way the 100th MLP episode was set up in.
icecream hero And I happened to enjoy some of the sketches. I did say most of it was bad but it wasn't as bad as calling out your critics, telling them they're too old to be watching cartoons, and bastardizing already established characters. They did their own thing and sometimes they hit while most of the time they missed. I get it dude, you didn't like IC. I did. Can we just leave it at that and be done with it? There's no point arguing over why I liked something you didn't.
icecream hero Neither have I but just from the review I'm glad I don't watch this show and specifically this episode despite the amount of advertising claiming its "Your new favorite show!" or how many times they show TTG over everything else on the channel.
Julie Walker I can agree with that. Sometimes I just wanna watch a show that doesn't require me to think too deeply about the plot or characters. TTG on the other hand is not that because I'll end up thinking about how stupid the Titans are, and how much it makes fun of TMNT and MLP fans and fans of the original and how it's CN's new Johnny Test.
the excuse "It's just for kids!" just so they don't have to try with their writing is one of the weakest, laziest and most insulting excuses creators can make for those very reasons that so many other current shows and newer shows are also "Aimed at kids" yet they appeal to everyone...they never think that kids might be impressionable and that they tend to look back at cartoons as a very important part of growing up, and so maybe said cartoons should be worth remembering for the right reasons?
ChrisRisk also, they've show robin has a joker face on one of this punching bags. This is just like one course meal where they bring up a fear that makes no sense in older episodes
Exactly. Especially when you just go and say "This show was specifically designed to be stupid in every way possible, and that's our alibi." Even though that is not a legitimate alibi.
The episode was basically just a middle finger to "haters". I can't speak for everyone but the only reason I don't like the show are for two reasons 1.They turned Robin into one of the most annoying characters ever 2.It isn't funny
I actually saw a person in a Facebook group literally post this: "'Things change. You can't hold onto your childhood forever.'" TAKE THE HINT." Then when I pointed out that it wasn't nostalgia that made me dislike the show but the fact that the show is terrible, he left the group. Fans of Teen Titans Go, everybody!
I will give the show SOME credit; the movie was pretty good. It didn't satirize the original show in an insulting way and it didn't satirize the audience in an insulting way; it just wanted to be an animated, kid friendly version of Deadpool as some critics say. It did a pretty decent job in that respect. If we got more of that in the show I might even say it'd be getting on the right track.
+MrGorillafist honestly, i love it. The voices in this show provide so much nostalgia from my childhood and they still do very good as the characters. I'm glad they kept the old actors.
+HeavyDonkeyKong You must be watching an alternate reality version of this show, one that is a faithful yet unique take on the old TT cartoon. That or your nuts, take your pick :)
Yeah, -Immature toddler in a Robin costume -Green Shapeshifting Dumbass with No other Traits -Black Cyborg Dumbass with no Other Traits -Clueless alien girl who they forgot to give defining traits and of course, 'one dimensional brony joke'
They mention a popular comic book character, Slade/Deathstroke (I'm guessing they didn't call him Deathstroke because it has "death" in it and y'know, it's a kid's show...), then they get distracted by clowns and never bring him up again....What a cock tease...
For that reason. Because they want to avoid the word "Death". In the same channel that broadcast "The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy"... But still manages to be a badass and a pretty solid villain. Also i dont watch this show, but this episode is a direct insult to the people. Its the same awful thing that DC was making with the New 52 and Batman v Superman...
Alyssia Maynor Learn what harassment is before you toss it around like a hot potato. All you are doing is trivializing it when real harassment happens. Why should I believe that you are genuinely being harassed when time and time again, you claimed harassment due to sincere criticism?
Wow... The TTG argument to defend their show is freaking horrible... I never seen such a horrible argument on why "Kid's shows should be just for kids and not have any mature concepts" in my life... And yet this is on the same channel with shows like Steven Universe, Adventure Time, Regular Show, and TAWOG all shows that are mature in some of the humor and writing and yet still appeal for kids... unbelievable
They were trying to attack those who criticized the show because it is much more childish than the original Teen Titans. and according to them nostalgia blinds our views and things for children should remain only things for children. Of course this is false due to how many intelligent children shows out there that impresses both children and adults. and how they drastically changed the show from what it originally was... I would understand the Nostalgia-Blinded point if the show wasn't that different from the original. But other than the characters names it is really different, and not in an improved way.
Love how they were trying to portray themselves as saviors of kids entertainment in this episode, and how they were so daft as to completely miss the point of pretty much everyones criticism. No one cares that they are making a kids show, they care that they are making a shitty kids show. They care that they took a series that was meant to have more adult themes and turned into something it was never meant to be. They care because the makers of this show go out of there way to try insult anyone and everyone who calls them out for their shit. They care because any defense the makers can muster is fallacious. Honestly what did they expect would happen when they took a beloved and mature series, downgraded everything about it and then tried to say it was alright because it was meant to be for kids?
Honestly, as much of a middle finger as this episode is, I'd say it still doesn't top that "April Fools" episode or the episode where they practically mock Young Justice by going "See! that show was cancelled because it was serious and stupid! Nobody wants EDGY cartoons! Our cartoon is much better and funnier! It's not serious or EDGY at all!"
lol I think when they mocked Young Justice that's probably the most hilarious teen titans go episode. Also when have they attacked other people who criticized them? Have you watched an episode of teen titan go? They end up making fun of themselves most of the time
Lushsmoke256 Please tell me, do you sniff glue or were you born stupid? This show never made fun of itself and when they attacked people who criticized them? Let's get Serious, Finally a Lesson, Return of Slade and that one Control Freak episode. That's when they were attacking people who criticize them in a whiny "fuck you!" manner.
Yes the message here is horrendous, but I think that's the entire point. The creators know this episode is going to attract the audience that gives them a lot of flack, so they took the opportunity to write something that basically gave them the middle finger. I get that a lot of people are going to be offended by this choice, but at least they're clearly stating their opinions to the public, even if they are incorrect, that's better than silently making crap forever, in my opinion at least. Now we know exactly what to expect, so I can continue watching Gravity Falls in peace.
I believe it's the "You can't hold on to your childhood forever" part of the "message" that rubs people the wrong way, on top of it being an episode that namedrops the villain from the original show yet didn't actually appear in it (in fact, Slade didn't appear in TTG's universe until the movie - to my knowledge)
Wow did the writers actually made an episode aimed to attack the critics & fans that criticized this show? That's kind of an immature move to pull I gotta say...Also was that brony joke really necessary for them to do? What was the point of that? Are they making fun of the bronies or the people that bashed on this show? Make up your mind writers...
+Alex Ramirez yes. As bad as Boom is, they don't directly insult the Sonic fanbase, because they oddly don't want to turn away the Sonic fans, even though merely seeing a Boom advert is enough to make me feel sick
KirbyMario12345 True. The closest Boom got to making fun at those who critique Sonic was this little joke in one of the episodes; Tails:"Try this video game! You run, roll, and collect rings as fast as you can!" Cubot: "Aw, that sounds terrible!"
Jonnathan Sosa I actually find it kind of funny. I dont like the show at all but all the hate for it is worse than the show itself and I actually really liked the portrayl of bronies since there are certain bronies that act a lot like that
Alex Ramirez Even then, that joke is almost hilarious by comparison when considering Sonic the Hedgehog has a few bad games in its own catalog (Sonic The Hedgehog 2006 and, ironically enough, Sonic Boom: The Rise of Lyric).
The person who voices Mikey in the 2012 TMNT cartoon, a much BETTER show. Why? It's a better representation of the original Teen Titans, much like Steven Universe. Not to mention Tara Strong, Tara Fucking Strong, was a part of this. Along with the Drawn Together movie, this is one of the worst things she's ever been a part of.
Dorian Delourdes I know, right! I was going to mention Tara as well. So sad! Plus, I am a major TMNT fan and I died a little inside when he said that. T-T
Imogen Lamplugh I used to be a big fan of the Ninja Turtles too, but I missed too many episodes of the show and I just stopped watching it because of that. I still like them, but it isn't my favorite thing in the world anymore.
The fact that they're taking cracks at bronies confuses me. Didn't the writers originally work for Mad? Mad was always very respectful to the brony community.
stu 2d pot/sugar t I just don't get it. I understand they can't admit the show isn't good, but why champion this as their channel's "Spongebob", the cash cow that everyone (at one point) loved (in this case, for the original TT show). Why not something like SU, Gumball, or even that new show We Bare Bears (which I haven't seen, but have heard good things about)? With those shows, there are fans, and those with indifference. I see much more actual distaste and bile from those who dislike TTG, people who will actively say to avoid it rather than just "eh, not my thing, might be yours."
+Garotas Fofas Well of course it gets the most views of any show, they air it 7 times a day (At minimum, as the day I used to count this up has 2 movies in it, so they'd probably air it more without those.) That's 3.5/14 hours (Not counting adult swim of course.) When they air the show literally 1/4 of the day, (On a day where they're spending 4 hours on movies, mind you) of course it gets the most views.
stu 2d pot/sugar t The problem is CN Real had horrible ratings and almost killed Cartoon Network. Teen Titans Go is the most popular show on Cartoon Network.
Pokeplayer That's not how they work. You really think they don't have all that figured out? They don't put on a show this much unless it's already popular.
When I saw the title of this video, I immediately clicked on it. Deathstroke is my favorite comic book character, after Batman, in DC or Marvel. I was prepared to go on a tirade of how they ruined him in TTG, and how terrible the show is. But now I see he wasn't even *in* the episode. That is SO much better than if he actually appeared and made me want to remove my spine by ripping out my eyeballs.
And seriously, "Robin"? Clowns were never cool? YOU SPENT THE HAPPY PART OF YOUR CHILDHOOD IN A CIRCUS! And I thought Spongebob had no consistent time-line.
+AnonymousSourCream I've got a feeling that he's gonna be the main antagonist of the movie considering that the retarded time card in this episode said *Three episodes & a made for TV movie later*
Th-This show...replaced Young Justice? How do I hold onto my sanity after learning that? I already hate TTG because I believe it's a shitty excuse for a Teen Titans show (they could have just continued the old show with only a few changes. They got the original voice actors!) but now...now that I know it is what Cartoon Network decided would replace Young Justice...I just...Oh god, I can't.
They did not cancelled young justice because of teen titans go they cancelled it because they could not sell enough merchendise and continuing teen titans is a bad idea the show would end up like the simpsons
River Spirit ya , thank god, lord gaben, vonde, whoever, that it's going to get a 3rd season soon, hopefully it runs teen titans go in the dirt and brings starfire, bb,cyborg, and raven into yj if it works. If only
Satan sent an email to god saying "this came to me in a dream, and it scares even me, could you please smite it for me?" My only explanation is that god didn't have his glasses on and pressed send instead of smite. So now we get to play Jesus and suffer for their sin sent to us by accident.
Dancergirl600 You realize how nuts you people are? It's a stupid fucking show. Even if I didn't like it I wouldn't whine about it this much. This isn't directed towards you in particular btw. It's all these fucking people who expected the show to basically be a continuation of Teen Titans.
Considering how much of an insult this is to the original show and considering that there are actually some episodes of this show that try to being insulting to TTG fans ON PURPOSE, that’s much of an over exaggeration
Consider Rebecca Sugar, who was inspired to create Steven Universe, in part, by her adolescent fandom for Invader Zim. She's a perfect example of how one generation can be inspired by the better animation of their childhood to create the better animation of their adulthood. (Since watching some of Invader Zim, I see the VERY strong parallels between the cultures of the Irkans and the Diamond Authority Gems. And between Zim, personally, and Peridot).
+Imad Mohamed Really? My two nephews fucking love that show. Hell I even got into it when I was watching over them for a night. The shows actually entertaining and maybe im putting a personal bias on this because it was the episode about Star's demon Ex-boyfriend and i love shit like that. Demons, the occult, the mysterious, you name it.
you should have a series called "animation abnormalities" or something where you take a really good animated show and try to find an episode to do an animated atrocities on, or a bad show with a good episode. or just any episode of a show that stuck out from the show's usual pattern. idk. something
He already does that. He's reviewed an episode of Courage as an Animated Atrocity and gives an Admirable Animation to post-movie Spogebob. It goes to show that he is an honest, unbiased as possible reviewer and isn't hating or loving these shows just because of their track record
***** it would be wonderful. he takes the best episode of a bad series and the worst episode of a good series and compares and contrasts them, showing how eahc side got it right and wrong and basiclaly deconstructs the elements of each or soemthing.
***** also could be a sort of instructional type thign too:) showing novice writers pitfalls and whatot:) remeber he had a sadly dormant series where he takes apart specific tropes or plots with one of them being the brain swap plot. freaky friday*
Meir Teichman It wouldn't hold. It's like taking the worst Episode of Legend of Korra and comparing it to the best of G3 MLP. Too many differences in style, art, target. A good idea would be to compare the best and worst episode of a show (by opinion), and compare what one did wrong that the other did good.
I never actually got offended by a show before. And I've seen a lot of offensive shit. To rape to racism to killing kids and babies in movies and shows. This one hit me hard because of my childhood. This show was my damn childhood... slade along with joker is some of the best villains ever. Ron perlman voicing slade sent chills down my spine and made me scared and for once I doubted that robin could of defeated him. THE ONLY PROBLEM WITH TT that I have is where is batman. But I truly don't care about that. Honestly this was a 12 minute long episode and I had to watch it in about 3 sittings. Honestly Ron Perlmans slade was amazing again I say.... sent chills down my spine he was so quotable in a good way and was so damn menacing. Sorry I don't ever get this mad on RU-vid but teen Titans go is some of the most offensive things ever. I swear to god I could of broken my tv from ttg... would of sucked because I didn't get warranty on my tv
Ethan Joe Amen brother... This show made me quit Cartoon Network and has made me cry and cry because this show has become the Spongebob of Cartoon Network (when I mean this I talk about the bad seasons of Spongebob)... if you excuse me I am going to cry because Cartoon Network is going to give the TTG treatment to all the good old shows... Just be prepared when a Courage the Cowardly reboot comes and Courage uses memes to save the day...
Francisco Rafael Montiel Palencia Well, I've heard John Dilworth has made a Courage reboot that's animated in CGI. Doesn't seem like CN wants to pick it up, though. Though I'm sure John wanted it to be pretty much just like the original Courage, and not have it pander to the kids of today.
I've never seen the original Teen Titans, I'm not a DC fan, and I choose to ignore the Critic Call-Out episodes. For me, the most offensive episode is Cat's Fancy. That episode says that cats are disgusting creatures, and the only people who like them are crazy cat ladies, which really offends me as a cat person. I have always loved cats, and I always will. I don't care if they're aloof and self-centered, because I, myself, am aloof and self-centered. Dogs are okay, but as a ticklish germaphobe, I don't like them licking my face, and I find people who are really affectionate and always in an overly good mood SUPER ANNOYING!!!!!!!! Besides that, there are plenty of guys who like cats, and most female cat lovers are just normal cat lovers. I'm planning on getting a cat once I'm living by myself, but I'll only get one, maybe two. I won't get so many that they take over my home. Another problem I have with the episode is, well, even though I've never seen the original Teen Titans, I know Beast Boy is supposed to love all his fellow creatures. So why does he say he hates cats? Not to mention he's turned into a cat multiple times in previous episodes of THIS show, and even shown affection towards cats. Now, I know that it's like Spongebob, where it has muddled continuity, but still. I really don't like Cat's Fancy. The only good thing about it was the Garfield reference.
I love your speech about cartoons only getting better as you get older. I love watching them to get inspired or, heck, even learn about writing (although I find written and animated/visual stories hard to translate between, lol). Shows like this have no heart. Also, I'm glad Slade wasn't in this!
+Steph Gray I side with you wholeheartedly. Seriously, I think I watch more cartoons now than I ever did as a kid... Including things that I missed out on as a kid! This show just doesn't CARE if it's good or not... Sad...
+Felicity Swan no offense but why are you glad slade wasn;t in this? he would have made this show so much better, rather than having the writers troll our asses into believing that deathstroke had actually returned.
You want a good DC comics story? Wait a while. We got an adaptation of "The Killing Joke" with Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy coming soon. So, be patient. The future can hold great reward.
Zice033 DC has finally given the greenlight to an animated adaptation of "The Killing Joke" with Kevin and Mark after years of fans begging for one? If so, I hope they pick a good studio to animate it, a good writing staff, and a good composer.
You never know, eventually someone that has never heard of that story will complain about it cuz Barbara is in a weak and vulnerable position even though that's the entire point of the story
You never know, eventually someone that has never heard of that story will complain about it cuz Barbara is in a weak and vulnerable position even though that's the entire point of the story
No true scotsman, buddy. You can be a DC Fan and like this show. I, personally, hate it with a passion. But that doesn't mean zi'm going to dismiss those that like it.
maldonadocruzm the people who like this show are the people who either haven't watched the original or fail to understand how bad it is. So yeah you actually SHOULD dislike this show as this video gives good reasons to
HG Shurtugal You're not the only one who hates the Toddler Titans more then before. I even hate Michael Jelenic and Aaron Horvath even more, since they have the gall to trick the fans of Teen Titans into watching this episode, so they can lecture them on how they've outgrown cartoons and superheroes. Being an adult who like these characters in other media doesn't take away my right to say that Toddler Titans SUCKS! Also it's not unreasonable to want our kids to grow up intelligent, to know what great art is and to NOT grow up to be moronic trolls like the writers of this episode.
TheGameMerchant To be honest I think they are actually trying their best to get this shit cancelled and work on an actual DC action superhero animated series.
Chicken Fdisoruhg Oh man. I can't even remember the last time there was a good DC animated series on TV. I remember ones when I was a kid, But there is a huge gap between then and now where I can't think of one DC series worth remembering.
TheGameMerchant Hah, but haven't you seen their commercials? TTG is 'the best show ever', and is clearly 'everyone's favorite show'. If they say it on the commercials, then it must be true! -_- fuckin' bullshit, man.
What's sad is that MLP recently did the exact same thing and it's generally a far better show than TTG. What makes it even worse is MLP had audience inserts before that they handled with much more nuance, but forcing a "we're just for kids because they're our intended audience and the only ones who 'get it'" message was just so vital... 7 seasons into a show that's already established itself as intentionally having more depth and adult appeal than its predecessors. I'd almost say it's worse in MLP's case because it's a show that ought to know and do better.
OMFG WHAT?! TELUS, GIVE ME TELETOON BACK I'M SO FUCKING PROUD OF THAT CHANNEL RIGHT NOW THEY HAVE TELETOON RETRO AND NOW THEY HAVE TEEN TITANS ORIGINAL.
OMFG WHAT?! TELUS, GIVE ME TELETOON BACK I'M SO FUCKING PROUD OF THAT CHANNEL RIGHT NOW THEY HAVE TELETOON RETRO AND NOW THEY HAVE TEEN TITANS ORIGINAL.
+Koray Say They probably saw it themselves and said "Wow. This show is so shit, it's not even worth airing", which is the appropriate thing to think with a show this bad.
The day that Breadwinners dies, will be the day when Nickelodeon starts giving a damn about cartoons again. SpongeBob and Harvey Beaks may be pretty good, but seriously, they just don't give a damn anymore.
LizzieShiro "Well, Ron Perlman threatened to castrate us if we talked to him again. What now?" "I dunno. We already wrote the script and I don't want to write another." "But, Slade is in the entire episode?" "Uh, just replace him with a clown and make sure to insult whatever nostalgic fanbase we have left."
Why does Tara Strong enjoy working for a show that claims that cartoons are only for kids when she's also the star of My Little Pony: FiM, a show whose fanbase is almost ENTIRELY adults?
+mrkylil2 Strong has a job, in which she gets paid a lot money to say things in a certain voice. Just because she said a bunch of lines she was paid to say, doesn't mean she has to agree with what she was paid to say. And however many adults may watch MLP, the show is still for kids. It is targeting towards children, and is meant to be watched by children. For God's sake, the show airs at a 11:30 every Saturday morning.
I'm going to be honest: I hate Teen Titans Go for being an insult to the original show and an insult to the fans. But I hate the staff *WAY* more than the show itself. The staff are not only ignorant to what people are saying about the show, but they are also incapable of handling criticism. Y'know, if the people worked on this show actually listened and paid attention to what fans were saying, maybe just maybe this show could be okay. But no, the staff's ignorance continues to grow, and I *hate* that. Also, I *fucking* hate the MLP jokes. They're stereotypical and not clever in the slightest. They feel more like malicious jabs rather than actual jokes.
Son of Tiamat (formerly known as tiakpark) I'd rather watch anything from SpongeBob than this. I really do not care for TTGo. I'm not offended by it, but I also do not like it at all.
Son of Tiamat (formerly known as tiakpark) In a sense, you can say that's why sports fans sometimes act the way they do (especially in live sporting events); because they care about the team they're rooting for and want to see them do well with what they have (or at least be better than what they currently are at this time).
I am freaking like a tween and I despise this show. And get this there are only two bad shows on CN and now there is now only one good show on Nickelodeon.
I know two lady friends who actually enjoyed watching Phineas & Ferb and Gravity Falls alongside their children. That's a perfect example of how this decade has been good for cartoons that appeal to all audiences. I highly doubt either them or their kids could stomach the baloney that is Teen Titans GO!.
@@unicornbunny5439 They just don't like good shows. I've glanced at their channel and they're a fan of: Annoying Orange (an immediate red flag) Powerpuff Girls 2016 Teen Titans Go! Sonic the Hedgehog and MLP:FiM And while I actually liked some seasons of MLP:FiM (everything else on that list is pretty shit imo), I'm sure this puts this dude's comments into perspective. They go around Mr. Enter's videos just to hate in the comments about people comparing Animated Atrocities shows to good shows, _e.g._ calling Gravity Falls bad. The worst part is, while the people they reply to comments in a tone that's clearly opinionated, they will pay always reply in a tone that sounds like their opinion is law/objective, just like here. They don't seem to have any reasons why, either, so they're just as bad as the infinitesimal amount of TTG haters who don't have reasons.
I have a feeling that all the bad reboots normally take from a show that had action and a bit of comedy and turn it into something loud and annoying. Like if they aren't constantly making noise (that maybe misspelled) they will loose the focus of their audience. So far. There's only 3 bad shows I can think of, if they are still airing on the network. (Ttg, thunder cats reboot and total drama Rama. Not sure if the Ben 10 or ppg reboot is still a thing but if they are, add it to the list.)
@@47ratsinahoodie What Sonic show? AOSTH is quite bizarre, but it's not terrible. Sonic SATAM was mostly great. Sonic Underground I found a bit entertaining sometimes, but it never really did much for me. Sonic X was just a thing. Sonic Boom I find really funny & well made, had much better humor than TTG, though sometimes it can be a bit too in-your-face with its references.
@@ExtremeWreck I don't recall but it may have been Sonic Boom which I don't hate (I was a big fan when it first came out) but it's the not the best written show imo
Aiden Allison That's the only reason why this shows get views. I usually leave Cartoon Network on for every other show but this comes on so much I keep giving it views when I don't want to.
It's got good music, it's about the only thing it's got going for it. It is a very "I hope you enjoyed no moral theatre" episode and unlike other episodes of this type, it's not a joke, which is kind of disturbing. Still, I'll grant you it's not teeth grindingly awful. Also, the Brain, what happened to your voice!
Honest truth is, there are a few episodes like that. Wally T is probably my favourite episode (not that it's good or anything) it's once again a response to critics but it's a much more self-aware one
So the episode had NOTHING at all to do with Slade, and there was a whole bunch of MLP stabs and jokes? Okay, first of all, a quick aspirin to quench my throbbing headache Second, this piece of shit cartoon took a stab at MLP because MLP does things a thousand times better than it does anything. I'm not saying that MLP is the best show in the universe, no. MLP is definitely one of the top shows of all time, along with Regular Show and Steven Universe to name a couple. This cartoon, it just looked at the original Teen Titans and just bastardized them. That's all this is - it's a bastard child of what used to be a great and meaningful and ACTUALLY FUNNY series. Oh, and by the way Teen Titans Go!, you mock MLP because you're clearly jealous. This episode proves your desperation.
The song choice for the credits is quite appropriate I think. As a kid listening to it, I didn't really understand the underlying subtext that existed, but I still enjoyed it because its just a good, catchy song and had interesting visuals to go with it. Oh, and it was scary as hell too.. Now as an adult I can still appreciate it, not purely because of nostalgia, but because the song had a layer of meaning that only age and wisdom helped me to understand. Good cartoons appeal to kids. Timeless cartoons appeal to everyone.
Stuff like Rocket Power and Yo Yogi, though? Much too dated. Now, for the record, I have not seen either of those shows, but I feel like I would not have enjoyed them. I don't like sports, and I'm not a huge fan of Hanna Barbara, either.
Actually the way they make the show its pretty cheaply made. Next time you watch it, count how many times a character stays still on screen, how many times the same background is used, and in their music numbers, how many times they repeat animation.
Yesterday, I decided to watch some Hey Arnold for the first time in a while. Episode 11, Season 1 is about Arnold and Gerald trying to reunite a family broken apart in the Vietnam War. As a kid, I watched it as just a regular cartoon without much though. As a teenager, it made me cry a little, and I'm really not much of an emotional guy. I'm not saying all shows need to have underlying tragedy, but the show really hits you in the feels sometimes. I don't want to be the typical 90's kid, but the quality I've seen in that cartoon is among the best. With more sludge like this being pumped out weekly, I don't think we'll ever see the same degrees of brilliance in the coming years. It's a right shame to see.
I've been a fan of this show because some of the humor does make me laugh but, but it's been testing my patience i knew it wasn't perfect and I definitely had mh criticisms but this? this broke me. I'm done with this show, I never felt so insulted by a show (not even going into the RIDICULOUS idea kids shows have to suck or be basic cause KIDS ARE DUUUMB DURRHUR, ugh fuck off ) and sadly I know I'm not the only one
Frankly I'm sad the original cast actually took part in this. I mean I stopped liking Tara strong forever ago, (also love how she's completely quit trying to use her raven voice) but it's still very bummerish
Maxisamo1 Good point, they're either heartless or they're legally bound and obligated to take a dump on the past stuff that people actually respected them for.
Maxisamo1 They're probably forced against their will after being tricked into signing a contract to do whatever the producers want them to do no matter how horrible the entertainment may be. Quick! Someone call Phoenix Wright! He's the only guy who can save them!
+Rinate Meto Yeah. I mean, my little sister is into Sofia the First and when I saw it (as a much older person) I actually think it's a much better show than TTG. Not just by the low standards TTG set, but it's actually an enjoyable show with actual meaning and several continuity nods (something I appreciate), not to mention catchy musical numbers that aren't ear-grating as songs like "Waffles."
Whenever I hear the argument that cartoons are for children and should only be viewed by children, I'm reminded of the fact that these cartoons are written, drawn, animated, voice acted and checked for quality-insurance... by adults. If these adults can't have other adults look at what they've made, then they know it's sub-par from the get go. Kids are simple, not stupid. Just keep the story lines simple, not stupid. A good simple story can be appreciated by people of all ages. I feel like "adult" shows try too hard for "shock value" and show case the worst possible aspects of humanity in the worst possible outcomes... and depression rates are on the rise! what are the odds? Cartoons on the other hand, tend to do the opposite. They tend to be bright and show the best of humanity, like justice, truth, and sympathy/empathy. Even in darker ones like Batman or Gargoyles, they at least have two things going for them: Heart, and hope.
Plus, even Sword Art Online is well, even more supremely superior than most of the entirety of Teen Titans Go! as a whole because well, Kirito did want TTG!Robin can't do.
This episode should be the point where literally everyone stands up and says, to quote Kerry Packer (in his infamous response to Australia's Naughtiest Home Videos): "Get that shit off the air!" This episode is the only reason that should be needed to cancel a series, recall every DVD ever released and burn it to ashes...pretty sure they did the same thing to Allen Gregory.
Just saying... it would have made much more sense for Robin to be afraid of clowns. Heck instead of calling it the Return of Slade with basically no Slade they could have used their method of basically making the entire episode one running gag with the Joker showing up with a crowbar threatening Robin's life.
Another thought about the "it's just for kids!" hand-wave. It's basically saying that if something is bottom of the barrel, the worst of the worst in terms of quality, it should be for kids by default. I really hope these aren't the same people in our schools teaching our kids, because if so, that would explain a lot...
Alex Ninten what about the nw show we bare bears its not that bad (at least its better then this pile of dog shit) mainly because of ice ear to fix something he smashed it with a hammer and duct taped it together (its funnier if yu watch it)
Alex Ninten I'm legitimately curious. Where is the appeal for Clarence? It has some of the ugliest character designs ever... We got: Some blonde nightmare monster named Clarence A gremlin And Steve from Minecraft, but nerdier, and uglier, and with a god-awful voice. And the voices... are they not capable of providing a character whose voice doesn't sound forced? Clarence sounds like someone's talking with their throat internally pushed outwards, the gremlin kid sounds like my headcanon voice for Withered Bonnie from FNaF (and if you sound like a teenage male forcing his voice with no training whatsoever in the vocal department, that is a very negative thing), and Steve from Minecraft just sounds... well, he sounds normal. He just sounds like an obnoxious kid, which would be balanced by normal voices... if there WERE ANY IN THIS SHOW. The plots are stupid, thrown together, even a bit formulaic, and unable to decide what they want to be. Take that Wild Goose Chase episode... it was two plots thrown into one, with a "what" ending. Tip: DON'T SHOOT FOR A "what" ENDING. And the humor fails, in my personal opinion. This is the part that is subjective, but I think any reviewer would agree with my previous statements. I am, however, willing to admit I am wrong. SO, please, for the love of all that's right in the animating world, _tell me why you like this Animated Atrocity..._
Oh yeah let's not show kids this kind of jokes because kids like political jokes so why don't they make a joke about Obama or Putin or the Ukraine crisis or the Syrian war (sarcasm)
But 90s cartoons like Ren&Stimpy and Cow&Chicken were filled with fart jokes and other kinds of toilet humor and a lot of people nowadays consider them masterpieces
Who in their fucking mind called or even remotely considered Ren&Stimpy or Cow&Chicken as masterpieces? Yeah, they had gross out humor and humor for a person who suffers from brain damage, but they weren't "masterpieces"
SuperHero Squad. SuperHero Squad was a comedic animated series for children, based on a popular long-running team of comic book superheroes. It did not, in any capacity, take itself or its source material seriously. I would rather watch SuperHero Squad's worst episode a thousand times than watch Toddler Titans best episode once.
I actually remember SHS fondly, I can't say if it was the best of comedy cartoons or Marvel cartoons but the story of it is the only way I know anything about the Infinity stones. And yes, I believe I can recall its worst episode and could still enjoy that over anything from TTG
Besides at least it had action and comedy in equal amounts not plain 'comedy' like in teen titans go or saving comedy for ocassions like in the powerpuff girls reboot
notoriouswhitemoth , that is a LOT of hate. Gravity Falls is my favorite cartoon, but I would much rather watch any TTG episode once than any GF episode 1000 times just because I would much rather watch a thing for 11 minutes than 22000 minutes. (or 1000 hours if you are talking Weirdmageddon 3)
Mississippi King TTG has haters? Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah! That is literally the funniest thing I've ever heard
The SuperBlade Penguin Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah!Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah!Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah! Reported for spam.
Wait, the episode is seriously called "The Return of Slade" when he only was mentioned like 2 minutes? Why? Why not call it something like "Remembrance" or "Wrong memories". Still a ratings trap and the episode name would made sense. Oh that's right that should take effort and tought.
AGENTE4777 Teen Titans Go does that shit for about 95% of their episodes, where they create their title based off of something stupid that was said or something else that was ultimately misleading. Take for example Money Grandma or Hose Water, where they pretty much got their titles off of just one stupid joke.
Also, one of the episodes was named "Dog Hand", which was named for literally a less-than-0:10-joke that had no connection to the episode. Teen Titans Go! sucks.
