Today we use the puppet pin tool to animate a still image using Adobe After Effects CC and exporting to a .gif using Photoshop CC. This will be handy for your artwork showcase!

NOTES TO EVERYONE: - To get rid of background of already made gif, use roto brush tool in AE. - To save time, you can raterize the background layer instead of duping it. - For more precise pinning, use the pen tool to select the part, after you double clicked the layer. This way when you move it, it won't move rest of image. - You honestly don't need to pin everywhere, it's a waste of time, EG if your animated eyes to close, only pin eyebrows, otherwise its a waste - If you don't want to output as png sequence or just want a straight gif, you can always get plugins to do so.

if you spent ages to make the animation(like me) and the size it's more than 8M, try changing the Dithering in the "save for web" tab in photoshop. i lowered the size of about 3M using that, and i didn't lost much quality.

ctrl + alt + shift + s (win) or cmd + opt + shift + s (Mac). to export it if the option is not there

As of now, The steam background site is a tad broken, IE, the images are actually shifted to the left and down compared to the way Steam actually does.

Hey Buddy, can i animate like a "breathing" effect on my character this way? I could need some help here. :-D And at another project i try to animate a tree that should move like it's windy. Am i good if i try it with the shown technic?

Yeah pin around the chest and animate it falling up and down. Make sure the whole body is animating along with it or it will look weird.
