Since we have a hype on the new Pokemon game, we would like to know your insights of this XD ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BoZ0Zwab6Oc.html We honestly have a lot of animation clips/videos to ask to break down. Unfortunately, they're too many to remember XD
There are also a lot of unique Japanese animated music videos that also manage to have Closed Captions on some of them. In case some of these are worth breaking down. 1) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-F64yFFnZfkI.html 2) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nROvY9uiYYk.html 3) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ugpywe34_30.html and a recently famous Chinese Anime Opening: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AKTerwR9lco.html
So, I might be able to add what's going on in the video. The Call is not only a teaser for the League's new seasons, but also might be the teasers for the upcoming big event in the world of Runeterra itself. The Call takes place after the Ruination event last years, and it points that there might be an invasion from the Void(purple thingy). Since Ornn - the Forged God(Big hairy red dude that forge weapons) is forging weapons again, that means something BIG might be approaching. Sejuani(Viking lady who ride boar and use ice flail) and Olaf(duel axe Viking guy) are leading their people in search of Ornn's cauldron and fought against the Ursine(those lightning bear guys) that are Volibear's follower(Volibear is the huge bear image in the clouds, and also Ornn's brother) and they are keeping Ornn's cauldron. It seems that Sejuani and her clan are now declare war against Volibear now. Taliyah (the earth-bender looking lady) and Kai'sa (the cool lady who use power of the Void since she was stuck in there and had acquired a living suit that she used to combat the creatures from the Void) are searching for something in the desert and are fighting against the Void creature whe were led by Rek'sai (the big Void creature that pop ups from the big hole in the ground). In the end Kai'sa decided to sacrifice herself to lure Rek'sai bach to her lair underground so that Taliyah can close the hole. Meanwhile, Pantheon (the hairy-chest Spartan guy) the former Aspect of War, is climbing the Mount Targon to meet other Aspects (it seems). But since he lost some of his aspect's power during the Ruination (he was defeated and mind-controlled by the main bad guy of that event) the aspect doesn't want to meet him. So he has a fight against the guards and Leona - Aspect of the Sun(armored lady with big shield and flaming sword). After that Pantheon was hit by a comet that seems to be from Aurelion Sol(a star gods who was being tricked by Aspects of Targon, and the only being that have the power to close the Void rift). In the end Pantheon channel his remaining Aspect's power to go back into the fight once more. I might miss some points but this is probably what's going on in the video.
Pantheon died and Atreus survived of pure willpower, he is still tied to the aspect power, so when he got struck by the comet of Auerlion, he awoke those powers again, the constellation revived, Atreus The Pantheon is now the aspect of war. (I'm not 100% sure but I think that's how the story ends for now.)
@@Pathfinding-earth Yeah, I get that part, but U think he lost a portion of the aspect power when he was defeated by Viego. After that I still not sure
I never understood the 'uncanny valley' effect. Meaning that very realistic animated characters don't bother me in any way, i just see it as really well done animation. I wonder if it's some brain processing thing that you would need to have a PhD to understand why it does or doesn't happen to certain people lol
For us it wasn't just about how realistic they look (bc it's incredible what Unit Image managed to do! Wow!) it's the difference between how realistic they look in combination to how stylized their design and movements are. Because they are league characters, their proportions are super pushed, like the head on kai'sa is slighly bigger than a average humans and they move so epic and fast that we as animation stundents see that this is not 100% realistic, yet their faces could be the ones from real humans because they're so well made. That beeing said, you are totally right that this is a subjective feeling and i've heard from so many people that they don't see the call as beeing uncanny. It's super intresting for me to hear this :D there really needs to be a scientist explaining to me why some people are affected by this while others aren't xD thanks for this intresting comment :3
@@AniValleyReacts thanks! 😀 I know what you mean, me being a fan of Riots characters, I definitely enjoy their slightly anime design and overall extra-ness, I guess, but I get how if you go a bit far into realism with the depiction, it might look a bit 'off' to some. Its a tricky balance and maybe this particular studio excels at this style and wanted to show off what they can do with skin/surface effects, which may not jibe with some of the more fantastical elements of the trailer. That's what I enjoy about Riot utilizing all these different creators to make content though, they all bring something a little different and it makes all their stuff fun and distinctive, imo.
@@gman7497 yes a hundred percent agree :D it's awesome that they try out different things and I personally am so happy that riot pumps so much money into the animation industry to produce such gems. They deserve all the praise they get a thousand fold
It’s perfectly normal and okay to not know the lore. But saying “idk what going on” and “I don’t know what’s happening” multiple times is quite annoying. You coulda just bring it up once or twice in the beginning and maybe replace the other times with actually analyze and critiques
The only thing that matters is that these are cool characters doing epic fights. You don't really need to know anything, unless you wanna deep dive into the lore. The cinematics are mostly made to attract anyone interested enough to watch them. No biggie.
@@Seissmo Not really pure chance since I click on the channel once every 2 days since I have zero faith in the notification system of youtube. Anyhoo, have a great day.
It goes both ways. So either something can look super realistic but move quite stylized or have stylized porportions (which we think is the case with the call but thats a personal opinion) or you can have something cartoony move realy realisticly and feel like a human but not look like it :3
@@AniValleyReacts Yeah I agree there is a sense of uncanny valley here. You'd never confuse these for real people because of the stylized nature of all of this. Not a bad thing, and obviously a deliberate choice.
@@AniValleyReacts well guess you are students for a reason :3 all the animators reactions that I have watched said that doesnt give uncanny valley vibes at all, like the talk about how the design is taking imperfections so well that isnt uncanny valley and the bodies are nor perfect bodies, are more real, in a very human way. :3
League cinematics kind of blow me away. They switch styles and narratives almost every other trailer and I've yet to see one I didn't like, which is amazing given how many trailers have come out over the years.
@@AniValleyReacts Yeah, you can tell that they give their artists a lot of leeway to come up with interesting ideas and spins. God knows many other companies write themselves into a corner. Specializing like that is really good for getting a great product faster, but I think Riot Games ha amply proven that spreading your wings a little bit can be just as rewarding.
@@AndragonLea I bet they are the ones calling the shots tho that this is what's going to happen and this is the characters and this is the plot also no words in this maybe a few yells or grunts that's it. One is a dessert one is a snow place and one... Well we have to show you concept art on that one. Now the combat style of these characters ahh so much work anyway... But yes they also probably was looking for this type of art style seeing how far they can push it.
Funny how they didnt realised the connection within the mountain and the cloth that Taliyah picks up, a really hard detail to pick up when a lot of things are going on but they are the same shape. Just a funny detail, not a critique*
It's like watching juniors watching a creation by masters of their craft. I am a junior graphics designer and also practicing illustration skills, I too always watch these kind of stuff with extreme awe. The creative brains inside Riot's lore team, cinematic, music and everything else are special people.
Our discord actually exploded with our clasmates writing us: "yooo we got a notification squad!" Keep it up gang, your making some animation students very happy
I’ve never actually heard it in anyones reaction that it gives them uncanny valley vibes, I’ve heard that for the warriors cinematic which I can see a lot more but it seems like full realism in the call. Maybe just interpretation but I don’t see it
@@FallenLight0 the "uncanny valley" lady looks more uncanny valley then the characters. Some animators see uncanny valley were it doesnt exist. Its simply due to excessive exposure, not with lack of skill.
Thats why we dont talk about story in our analysis and only about visuals :) it's a first reaction so it makes sense that we don't get everything about the lore right away. I suggest if you want some lore content to check out @tbskyen or @necrits content :D they're great
@@AniValleyReacts I know the lore. I was just laughing at everyone saying “I don’t understand” “I don’t understand what going on” I was like of course you don’t. Lol
Interesting that many of you got uncanny valley vibes when I haven't really heard that from the general public. I assume with your training it modifies the uncanny valley curve significantly. To me these are all gorgeous, although there is a stark difference in animation between characters. Mostly Taliyah has massive anime eyes compared to Pantheon who looks almost photoreal
@@AniValleyReacts depending on how it was recorded, it might be a matter of panning each signal 20-30% left and right. In my experience, that feels a lot more realistic
I think that players that know at least a bit about the character's background have less of "uncanny valley" affect. Like, the guy who thought Pantheon's shield was looking bit unrealistic didn't know we saw him here ascending to literal godhood for the 2nd time. He may have been born like us, but that shield is fine for him. but I like the reaction :)
All I want to know is how much time did it take/how much people and money to make video like this. 🤣 (The Call) Since they(riot games) only post video this quality only once a year.
Hei, so happy to hear that :D i have looked into your name but i sadly wouldn't know what scene to analyze. Violet is a great suggestion, i will put it on my list :3
Love watching students react to something that they couldn't possibly dream of doing without absolute MASTERS of the craft creating the training wheels for them to recreate the same thing with EASE within a decade.
