Very fair confusion about those few dramatic openings. They're basically just like dramatic finishes needing specific characters and stages, but they play automatically at the start of the match rather than at the end with a specific last hit.

As for Fusion Reborn, Janemba came from a demon teenager who was filled with evil. So when Gogeta removed his evil with Soul Punisher, he returned to his regular form and ran because he had no clue what was happening

Janemba was some young worker of the underworld who got dunked in evil juice. so when Gogeta defeated the kid appear again and tun away from him, thats the reference in the dramatic finish. they made it in firts person so they dont need to amke a model for him

On the Spirit Ball thing, it's Base Goku vs Frieza as a Dramatic Finish, it's the scene right before Frieza kills Krillin.

For those unaware: To trigger a dramatic finish, there's three criteria that need to be met: • The stage (Let's use "Cell Games Arena") • The character used to finish off the other have to match (Teen Gohan v Cell) • It has to be done with a Heavy (H) button on the ground or a Vanish. No specials. Dramatic Openings use the same criteria if they're the first character and those characters themselves fill the criteria (e.g. SSJ Goku v Frieza on Namek)

Anime/Manga cannon fights have dramatic intros. Dramatic intros isn’t a official name but it a good way to know what they are, they can happen during regular offline or online play

In terms of making movies, they said they're gonna release one every 1 to 3 years. Also, when it comes to fusions like Vegetto and Gogeta, there is no dominant personality. They're just a whole new person that has access to their memories and moves. So when it comes to Vegetto, vegeta isn't dominant and same goes for gogeta

Janemba was an evil demon that possessed a young Otherworld ogre, the Soul Punisher attack disintegrated Janemba's soul without killing the ogre! The last thing you see is us looking through the ogre's eyes as he gets intimidated by Gogeta and runs away, not even knowing what just happened! 😃

Dramatic openings (Ex. Teen Gohan going SSJ2 to face Cell) are just special starter cut-scenes for fights. Dramatic finishes are cinematic endings to the fight. Also, to clear up your confusion of Frieza, Goku, & the Super Spirit Bomb: Before the infamous moment where Goku had tapped into the power of Saiyan legend and becoming a Super Saiyan from the rage of Frieza murdering his childhood friend Krillin, Goku was fighting Frieza with the Kaioken technique & eventually resorted to the Super Spirit Bomb. This was only moment before him turning Super Saiyan. One thing that they missed is that they didn’t give a dramatic finishers to Cooler defeating Goku and vise versa.

Janemba was originally a teenage demon working in hell when he absorbed all the evil from spirits by accident turning him into janemba. He shrinks in the dramatic finish because the soul punisher removed all the evil contained inside of him and turned him to his original teenage demon self

For some of the stuff that you seem to be confused about, I'm gonna try to clarify a little bit, but I don't know all of it, so that's why I said some. The special cutscenes before the match starts are basically the same as a dramatic finish, but instead of requiring you to have certain characters facing each other on certain stages, and ending the fight with a certain attack, all you need is to start the match with certain characters facing each other on a certain stage, and that's how you get those "dramatic openings" that you saw with Cell and Gohan/Goku and Frieza. As for the dramatic finish where Goku hits Frieza with the Super Spirit Bomb, that was actually a part of the official series, but the Spirit Bomb wasn't enough to kill Frieza, and that frame you said you remember seeing is from after Goku thinks it killed him. In the official series, Frieza recovers from the attack, and pierces Piccolo through the chest with a Death Beam.

Basically dramatic finishes happen when you use anime/manga accurate characters to fight in the specific map they fought in and it only activates when you finish them with a normal heavy attavk or vanish. Some characters even have a special battle start animation that are also from the anime. Once again only if you picked the right map and characters.

The Goku and Gohan thing that happened before dramatic finishes are known as dramatic openings, same logic applies but it just happens at the beginning of the match Edit: just saw the pinned comment.

i think yamcha beating Nappa is a reference to a dbz isekai short where a japanese student got transfered to the anime world and trained to body the villians of the z fighters

Dramatic Finishes are only triggered by certain attacks on top of needing specific characters/stage combinations. Those scenes you thought are from story mode are just special intros.

Seems like nobody pointed it out, but the Bardock going Super Saiyan thing is from Dragon Ball: Episode of Bardock. It's obviously non-canon, and gives Bardock time travel abilities and Super Saiyan, he fights Frieza's ancestor in it and beats him which is the "explanation" for why Frieza knows about the Legendary Super Saiyan

It's not a dramatic finish but one of my favorite easter eggs is if teen gohan and cell use their level 3s at the same time, gohan can spend 2 more meter and recreate the beam struggle, and he'll rip through cell's attack just like in the show. The profound level of love and detail. Arcsys is godtier for fighting game fans.

Btw the Janemba movie is called fusion reborn and he turned him back into a kid because he was a kid before he became janemba he was fused with all the evil in the world but since he was good before gogeta used soul punisher which made him pure of heart

On the Bardock vs Freeza, a lot of dragonball fans dont know because they didnt watch the movie, but when Bardock was hit by freeza super nova, the power so big that somehow it sent Bardock centuries into the past of his planet way before saiyans even got to it, in that past Bardock fights an ancestor of Freeza and in that fight he becomes the first ever super saiyan, the lackeys from that ancestor of Freeza that got killed would them spread the legends of the super saiyans that would one day become Freeza biggest fear. The way Bardock kills Freeza in this dramatic is the same way he killed his ancestor

No they are basically this games version of instakills from guilty gear. And the ones with transformations or attacks at the beginning of the match are special intros similar to street fighter and other arcsys games. The spirit bomb one is for Saiyan saga Goku.

Goku actually did use the Spirit Bomb on Frieza... only for Frieza to live and kill Krillin.

The spirit bomb is from on namek, Goku uses it to try to kill frieza, but it doesnt work. He comes back and kills krillin, thus triggering Super Saiyan, then you know the rest.

Goku hits Frieza with the Spirit Bomb on Namek. It's a fake out where we think Frieza dies only for him to reveal he survived. Frieza then kills Krillin and Goku goes Super Saiyan. In the first Broly movie, Broly is absolutely dominating everybody right up to the very end. In the last few minutes Vegeta, Gohan, Trunks and Piccolo all give their power to Goku. All 5 of their power combined is how Goku manages that 1 punch kill that explodes Broly. Funny thing is Bardocks battle power is estimated to be 10k. Even IF he went Super Saiyan, his power still comes out to be 30k LESS then FIRST from Frieza if we go by the guides saying Super Saiyan is a X50 boost. Super Saiyan Bardock would be at 500k while first form Frieza is 530k. So against Final Form Frieza in this dramatic finish, Bardock still stands absolutely no chance whatsoever regardless of Super Saiyan. Cool scene though. I don't remember the Janemba movie exactly but one of the demon kids working the soul cleanser in the afterlife causes one of the tanks containing evil energy to breach. This evil energy washes over the demon creating Janemba. The Soul Punisher basically eradicates said evil returning the demon kid to normal, who then runs away from Gogeta. That's what this dramatic finish was replicating.

Yeah Bardock going super saiyan against Frieza is exclusive to this game. There was a OVA where Bardock was sent back in time and becomes a super saiyan later, but that wasn't against Frieza.

Goku decides that the only way to defeat Frieza was the Spirit bomb piccolo fought frezia untill it was ready Goku throws the Spirit bomb but Frieza survives the blast but it hurt him severely out of rage by the attack that's when he decided to kill krillln and thus the super sayian was born

Janemba isnt really his own being. Janemba was born when a demon kid destroyed a few containers full of the evil souls of demons and it merged with the kid ans the kid mutated to fat janemba, ssj3 goku beated fat janemba then super janemba is born. Then when ssj gogeta used soul punisher (the attack that only hurts if ur evil) on janemba it desintigrated janemba but left the demon kid alive and we see in the lid's pov at the end of the dramatic finish

It's called DBZ, episode of bardock.

I'd say Fusion Reborn should be watched in Japanese mainly for the music as I feel it's much better than the English dubbed version. After a certain point, the music for the movies got a bit generic, to me at least.
