These moments are "meh" without context. With context they become legendary. I've avoided One Piece for years ,because of it's length , and now I wish it was longer , because every arc builds on the previous ones , making them better. Everyone needs to experience One Piece in their lives.
One Piece in turns of world building and lore is one of the greatest stories ever told, and I'm not saying that lightly. Everyone here can agree, the story is beyond top tier. There's a reason it's the second highest selling comic in human history
first most selling for majority of the years spanning between 2000-2022, it has the most sold manga almost all of those years, except for like 5 or 4 ( i think naruto)
@@Knockedy If you throw Western comics in to that mix too, I heard One Piece is closely catching up (if not already has) to the second most sold ever... Never going to reach 1st, simply because Superman has too much of a lead, but iirc, 2nd was/is Batman, so...
@@Niko__01 one piece is 2nd now, it out sold Batman, Batman sales come to 484 million and one piece sold 500 million copies, 1st place remains to Superman with 600million sales. And people are guessing that by the end of the series one piece will surpass Superman and clain the 1st spot :)
@@kazuma7658 I thought I heard it was second now, but I wasn't sure... thus the parenthetical But I also thought I heard Superman was too far away for One Piece to ever catch up... 100million sales is not too far away at all...
@@Niko__01 yeah when one piece was in wholecake arc people were predicting that in 10 years it would overthrow Batman and in another 10 years Superman. Well didn't take that long to overthrow Batman, and i believe that in another 4-5 years it has the potential to overthrow Superman considering how fast it's sales number is increasing. You can watch the video named "The appeal of one piece" where he made the predictions, i guess you heard it there.
"Is the story good?" man, the story is some of the absolute best I've ever seen. Everything is connected, everything comes back around eventually, a character will have a small cameo in one chapter or have what seems to be a throwaway line end up coming back 400+ chapters later as a "holy crap, this was that!". It has outsold almost every comic in existence except for superman. There is a good reason it's at the top, Oda has given small side characters more thought and story than some series will give their main cast. I highly recommend the two supereyepatchwolf videos on it.
Greetings from one year later. Even now Oda hits us with some new connections within the story. We are at chapter 1100 and it is connected to luffy even before he starts his journey 😮
Maybe skip Long Ring Long Land, but it's only a few episodes long. So bad, most people who watch without reading the manga assume it to be anime only filler.
If you watch anime for the story, you're done looking. This is arguably the best story in anime history. There's nobody better at worldbuilding and story than Eichiro Oda
@@shu1890 I mean, if every volume of the webnovel gets adapted its probably gonna be close to 200 episodes or so (also I was talking about mushoku's novel)
For someone who has not watched one piece these moments are nothing. The one who knows what deeper meanings these moments hold knows the true gravity of these epic legendary scenes. “Nothing happened” moment was the one where everyone knew about the depth of loyalty zoro has for his captain.
It's also telling because Zoro at first said he'll kill Luffy if he stopped him from attaining his dream. 380 episodes later, he's sacrificing both his dream and life for Luffy.
Btw, I couldn't get into One Piece either, I was struggling to get past the 2nd arc, Syrup village (which is considered one of the worst arcs), but once I got to the 4th arc... I got hooked and binged it for 2 months until I caught up.
I think the tl:dr episodes of the earlier arcs help people get into it. They're called "special edition" which are basically tl:dr of the earlier seasons. And I think, although you should def watch it all, they are super useful for getting friends into the series.
I didnt even know how long it was when I started watching. I was trying to find an anime with a cool creative power system and heard about devil fruits from one piece. I didnt even look up the show or characters and went into it completely blind. It very easily became its own tier of anime even above S tier
Well, if you are not captured after Straw Hats enter Grand Line, then this anime isn't for you. One Piece has the GREATEST STORY EVER WRITTEN. No anime compares to One Piece. That is why it's number 1.
2 things, One Piece has probably the best story telling in all of Anime and the reason why that guy had no blood when he was cut in half was because of Law's devil fruit power being the "op op" fruit which makes his cut like an operation and doesn't affect the user until the room is closed
Man it’s hard to get into it at first but once you get past the story plot and get to see the crew come together over time you get to finally see their powers that change over time and there’s some good twists in there
I was almost instantly hooked by One Piece, and it was because, well, I knew just from the start, that this was going to be a legendary anime. The arcs considered 'boring' weren't boring to me, because, I just enjoyed them. One Piece is one the the small 1% of animes that's caught my fullest attention, and, I have to say, I love it.
Definitely watch it, the amount of episodes are intimidating but when u catch up u are gonna wish there were a 1000 more. It is most known for world building and it’s story is so good, it already has an S tier story but when u catch up to wano arc that’s when the story goes to an S+++ as everything starts to connect from earlier on. Also luffy is one of the most popular favourite main characters and one piece also has one of the best side casts. So definitely watch it.
One Piece is legendary for a reason, greatest story ever told. Insane fights, amazing characters, incredible world building. All of it is perfection. It is 1000+ episodes now and is still not completed. It will take a while to watch but completely worth it
If there is an anime who has a good story that would be one piece .. beyond good .. storyline that never disappointed us through the 25 years .. the celestial dragon they are not God like ... but they are the image of wealth and political power
@@rimurutempest9953 It’s not. Not on any level. It strongly depends on whether Oda sticks all the hundreds of landings he’s set up over 25 years. If he does everything well, it’ll be up for discussion. Harry Potter is literally the best selling book *ever* … JKR is the first and only author to become a billionaire from writing. Oda is great at creating intrigue. As in: who’s that? Why’s he here? What can he do? When will we see him again … Over the course of 25 years we continue to ask these questions compulsively with no real answers. One piece is great-but you need to chill.
One Piece is designed to make you feel emotions at 200%, there are moments so badass that can tear you up just from someone appearing let alone more. The story, worldbuilding and action that is in One Piece there's nowhere else
One piece is in terms of world building and lore up dare with lord of the rings. The story is rich with a lot of real world problems like: corrupt governments, black market, slavery, drugs use, betrayal, forced married, mass killing and much more. Most beautiful thing about one piece is that a lot of the plot is outside the straw hats crew but will effect them immensely. It’s incredible writing but I would say manga > anime. The anime does a overal good job but the passing can be really slow.
One Piece in my opinion has "The Best story", it is amazing in every way. Some of One Piece's major flaws for most are; Length, Animation, Being Goofy and Character Designs Major strength; World Building, Characters, Story, Backstories
The Animation of One piece now it's stunning, I just don't like when they repeat the same story about the Goofy I like it making a serious anime it's going to make it boring and some character design are amazing aswell some obviously not, not everyone it's too important to have a well designed character progress it's not fine for me
One piece has one of the best & most iconic stories in anime history, possibly even tv/manga/comic history, it's just that it takes a lil while for some people to get into because of how long it is and it starts out slow but theres a reason why it has over 1,000 episodes, it's a fan favorite
One Piece is not a perfect story. However, it IS one of the most powerful, gripping, and amazing stories that has ever been written. It may LOOK like a goofy adventure filled with gimmicky pirates ... and, technically, it is ... but the depth of emotions and the realness of the subject it touches on is anything but childrens' fare.this show will make you cry, laugh, and cheer like few other pieces of media is able to. In short, One Piece is possibly the greatest piece of epic storytelling ever made.
I got lucky in life and seen one piece when I was little on adult swim on Saturday’s on toonami outta nowhere boom I’m a little kid growing up with one piece all the way to 2022 growing with luffy through my whole life luffy uplifts you on your worse days I tried putting everyone on but people said nah now look it’s crazy how powerful luffy is now everyone in real life is watching one piece they slept on it and realized the amount of episodes is worth it cause you’ll grow and love every character over time like your own family there will be sad days in life then boom you got one piece to cheer you up have over 1000 episodes will be the best time of your life you’ll want more one piece after you reached the current episodes lol
I will say one thing there is simply no such manga anime as one piece in terms of history right now because one piece literally tells the story of the whole world the same Naruto and bleach are not even close
Each one of these moments hits me right in the feels. Watching you watch these out of context is downright cringe. Just watch the series, you think it’s too long now but once you get into it you realize it’s not long enough.
So true, like when he asked how may swords zoro uses, you find that out in one of the very first few episodes, like before ep 10, it may be 3 or 4 but i dont remeber exactly. I just caught up a few weeks back and started reading the manga from the beginning but yeah, def a bit cringe to see someone wqtch this outta context with no understanding of the story
and at the expense of the white beard, this is a translation error that for some reason many have accepted as a fact the real name of this character is Edward Newgate, nicknamed belous because of his white mustache.
It's not an error that his nickname gets translated as Whitebeard, but a language gap. Japanese doesn't have specific words for "mustache" and "beard." Instead, they just have the word "hige" which means "facial hair;" so Shirohige = White facial hair. So of course they just translate it as Whitebeard so that it matches that popular pirate trope of "insert color here"-beard; like the infamous real world Blackbeard.
If you've watched all these moments with the backround, it's so incredibly cool I swear. I'd pay money to go back in time to when I first watched all of these. Greatest anime ever made.
nah, i gotta say, my favourite badass moment is when luffy gets back from the 2 year training having now enhaced his haki ability and he absolutely destroys the pacifistas which demolished the crew before the timeskip. The moment where he just dodges the explosion bullets without looking by just tilting his head is incredible.
just watch the first 4 episodes its a good short story maybe you can get into it after. just know that after episode 20 this shit gets on a new level you only have to watch till episode 44 and you can say what one piece is all about. after that it has some inconsitency but the anime constantly reaches new levels of hype you dont have to watch it tho
Dude if you had a hard time understanding the simple story of DBZ. Then you might get lost with OP lol. DBZ is one of my favorite animes growing up. But it's mostly about the explosive fights. They train really hard to fight strong bad guy. Then they defeat bad guy and gather DragonBalls to wish their friends back from the dead so they can train again to fight another stronger bad guy that's on their way. But OP remains the best selling manga in history even knocking Batman comic sales from rank 2 to 3 as OP currently holds 2nd place right under Superman comic sales. OP has over 500 million copies sold worldwide for its great storytelling, adventures, characters and world building. I feel sorry for anyone who has not given OP a fair watch and try. Giving up after one episode does not count and also shows how short your attention span maybe. Have a great day anyways.
Easily the best anime I’ve ever seen. The story constantly develops, with a world of secrets being uncovered and creating new plot lines in every arc. Easily the best world building in all of anime, with characters who constantly develop more and more over time to become true heroes.
one piece is an incredible story, the lore, the history, the arcs, the way that we slowly piece together the past, the little easter eggs are hidden in it, the characters and their development and the way everything fits in together is just incredible. the reveals, the plot twists, the theories, and the question that still needs to be answered of 'the void century'.i love how thought through the series and how we can get hints for something that won't happen for another few hundred chapters/episodes. everything about one piece is so interesting and amazing, i would highly recommend going back and rewatching it, or even reading it as it is easier and takes a lot less time to read 1050 chapters than to watch 1020 episodes.
"is it a good story" bro don't even get me started. We have all been where you are, debating whether to watch one piece and I thank myself every day for finally folding and giving this god-tear anime a change.
The overall story is good. But there's just so much 'fluff', it can get tedious, at times. But when it get's to one of these moments, you're glad you persevered.
It took me like 2 years of my friends constantly telling me to watch one piece and me dropping it three times to finally seriously start watching it and GAH DAYM IT HAS LITERALLY CHANGED HOW I VIEW ANIME
It’s been going for 20 plus years so I’d say if the fan base grows its has to have a good story. Gotta get past the first couple episodes to have any appreciation for the story
