Believe it or not, this is one of the highest rated tv episodes of all time and it truly defined light as one of, if not the best villain protagonist in fiction😊

my favorite thing to think about is the reason why Light screamed when he got his memories back. I had always believed he was screaming because of the amount of information being poured into his brain, but Misa doesn't scream when she gets her memories back... Why is that? I think Light screamed because as he was remembering, he was utterly horrified to learn he truly was Kira, and all the atrocities he had committed. Once he was able to process the information he just got, he reverted back to evil light. This would explain why Misa doesn't scream, because her being 2nd Kira isn't a shock to her. She not only just doesn't scream, she literally has no reaction to getting her memories back.

The amount of info fed to Misa was low and was prefaced so reduced further. The amount of information fed to Light instantaneously was massive. Not just the details but his thought processes and plans and contingencies for plans and so on and so on.

Love that you guys have started to give Light his props. He is a master mind and so fun to cheer for. By far my favorite character.

YEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSS The switcharoo with the notebook Light did in the woods confuses a lot of people. He specifically made Ryuk and Rem switch notebooks in the woods so that Rem would be attached to Higuchi (and then the task force) and that Ryuk would return to be attached to Misa and perform the eye deal. Rem would not have allowed Misa to do it, but Ryuk of course doesn't care. This is super beneficial to Light. So, do you remember that episode where Misa was first arrested and Light nearly admitted defeat? Within like 10 seconds, Light thought of a scenario in which L would be forced into the position of seizing the Death Note, in which Light proves his innocence AND reclaims ownership of the notebook, in which Misa halves her life for the eye deal again against Rem's wishes. And L STILL knows that something is fishy. Not only does this show how incredible Light is, but it also shows how much more incredible L is, all the while operating at a gigantic disadvantage due to supernatural elements being within only Light's scope. All the episodes of Light having no memory was one gigantic play Light had to make just to get like one or two things MAYBE to slip by L for a sec.

People making L up to have such a "gigantic" disadvantage when he has all the technology, money, and means in the world at his disposal... (we've seen what happens when L decides to arrest suspects (with Misa, or Light) too, he just has to snap his fingers, and a "Kira suspect" can be tortured forever). The only "huge" disadvantage is that Rem is in love with Misa, if you catch my drift.

@@tarukaja8 I don't know about that. It's not a bad point. But at least Light can account for L having resources. Yes he's a high schooler vs. a world class detective. And L pretty much zeroed in on him in an instant. But from L's position, he has to believe basically in ghosts and understand a system of paranormal rules in order to fight equally with Light. He has no clue or reason to believe that memories can disappear and return, that Shinigami can act of their own agenda, or that this mysterious killing power should for any reason be a shareable, physical notebook of all things. Considering their intellects are on equal standing, L is operating at a massive disadvantage in terms of knowledge of the playing field. His resources are the only reason he's able to keep up and make moves.

I will note... Ryusaki made a fatal mistake this episode. He knows Light would have planned to have Kira's power returned to him, and after finding out the power is from the notebook, he sat there and allowed Light to have the notebook. He should have immediately taken it back under the assumption that the power had, in fact, returned to Light.
