@@Callsign_Kishin Dang it was until season 7 when you first noticed that? I noticed the Ranma's voice change immediately on episode 64, (which is on Season 3, Hulu) Cx
@NADS IQ idk what that is, and don't get me wrong the sub is great obviously i just happen to enjoy the English one too heck the spanish dub is fun to watch since the voices match the personalities of the characters really well
I'm so used to Sarah Strange's voice for Ranma because I grew up with that voice. Never got to season 4 of the Viz dubs until a few years ago and it threw me off.
Well his second voice actor was the same guy who did InuYasha. Plus he makes him sound better like he finally hit puberty. Sarah Strange made him sound like Kid Goku if he was in his teens, but only half testicled.
Yeah Ranma and Fatal Fury are the only anime I've ever actually preferred dubbed, but i will have to switch to the subtitled (which is awesome too!) to dodge that awful final Ranma.
Sarah's voice was ACTUALLY believable for his age, despite Richard being a superior voice actor. It was VERY strange binging the series and hearing that change outta nowhere... INSTA-Puberty!
@@user-yr7op2ey1k she didn't retire. she went on to do LA acting. Also i think ranma 1/2 and like 3 other animated shows is all she has been credited for as a VA
Sarah is just THE best. Honestly, she has the greatest young man voice where it has that cute awkwardness and slight cracking that really makes him sound like a boy turning into a man and it's just so perfect. I was so put off when Ranma's voice actor was changed that I never finished the series.
Same. I got to Season 4 and couldn't go further with the English dub. I'll try again with the original Japanese since you can never go wrong with that. But Ranma is like the ONLY anime I preferred dubbed--the English voice actors with Sarah Strange was that great of an ensemble.
I find it interesting that they initially had a woman voice Ranma in the English dub. To this day most anime and video game characters that are voiced by women in Japan (i.e. Goku, Krillin, Kenshin, Eliot from Dead or Alive, etc.) are (usually) voiced by men elsewhere.
If Richard Cox had done it from the beginning it would have been amazing, Sarah did a great job but it's a little higher than expected and at the same time fits Ranma, that's why many people got used to it. Since I grew up with the Spanish dub, I feel like Richard suits the character better, of course always when you change a voice, it's weird to have a new one, so I can't blame the fans.
Its probably because he suited inuyasha so well and ranma is very much like inuyasha(rumiko writes a type for sure lol) so even if it was a startling change it still felt right after getting used to it
I was so used to Sarah's voice but then it changed and I was like ( WHAT NOOOO) But then I got used to Richards Voice I even tried copying Ranma's voice as a guy because if Sarah xD But i love the part (Fine, if that's how you want it because somewhere somehow) and so on I love Richard and Sarah 💕
I loved of these. Though since '92 when I got my hands on my 1st VHS tape, Sarah Strange has always been my definitive Ranma-kun. Followed by the O.G., Mr. Yamaguchi. Then comes Richard. But honestly, I don't hate Darren's at all!
Richard Ian Cox is my favourite voice her. Say, whatever you want about it sounding too close his Inuyasha voice but I don’t hear it. Sarah would be a good fit if the character was a child between the age of 5-9 but that is it.Plus it sounds pretty awkward and doesn’t translate well in English. I think Sam Riegel or Justin Cooks would have made a good fit for this character if the series was dubbed by Viz or Funimation.
Haha. I watched Ranma in german. (In German it only have 80 episodes 😪😔) And the rest I wachted in English. And Richards voice I espect was the voice of Ranma. Then I went back to the beginning and watched it in English. And I was shocked, because my thoughts were :,, Wow the voice is a different. "And I search on google and find a website. Then I watched this video. And I like all of the voices. But my vote have Richard Ian Cox. Because I think his voice fit so well into Ranma's character. That's the same thing with the german voice actor(He passed away😪😔😢)
Richard Ian Cox. I'm sorry, but Sarah Strange's performance sounds a bit TOO forced. Also, Ranma and Inuyasha have the same VA in Japanese so the fact that the same person also played them in English is a real fun coincidence.
Richard Cox and kappei get my votes 😁 since it’s the same as inuyasha lol not the biggest fan of Sarah tbh Richard really brings out ranma’s personality.
I have to go with Kappei! I really like his voice and I feel like he can do all his emotions perfectly! I also like Sarah Strange, she did it great on My opinion. My least favorites (no offense to anyone - my opinion) are Richard, and Darren Pleavin (where did he come from? I don't remember him.)
in my opinion the best voice is from Dearren Pleavin, but in terms of other countries, I prefer the Brazilian dubbing which is considered the second best in the world, I would say that it is even better than the Japanese dubbing
Honestly, I thought the first few seasons with Ranma's old design looked good for Sarah Strange. But when his new design came in the later seasons, I thought Richard was the better choice. And when that new design came with the ova's, Sarah's voice just doesn't fit with the design.
So... the comments about ranma's voice being like a girl's... what they commented were really truueeee. Really thought the voice actor was a guy but actually it was a woman's voice 😱
jade provost Richard eventually replaced Sarah. I remember being a little disappointed when I was watching it because I really liked Sarah’s voice as Ranma
Richard Ian Cox is no Kappei Yamaguchi who has great range and Richard's voice for male Ranma is too much like Inuyasha and doesn't fit Ranma's personality.
Richard. Definitely Richard. Sorry Sarah, but you really don’t try to hide your voice much at all when voicing the character, making him sound more like a girl than the actually female form. And don’t tell me its because “he’s supposed to sound that way to make the two gender forms more believable” no. If that was the case then why doesn’t Sarah voice the female form too? At least they got a guy to voice the male form this time.
