I remember meeting this beautiful lady in a parking lot next to the First National Building downtown Detroit, one day and we had a pleasant conversation about our families. When I saw her she told me not to be excite because she was just normal people and I laughed saying you're not normal people you are Anita Baker, and it was the most indelible time of my life. Thank you Ms. Baker for talking to me and allowing me to have a moment of your precious time I'll never forget the space and time we shared.
I went to the same show and I completely agree with you. She is absolutely fantastic and stole the whole weekend. Glad I finally got to see her when she was saying farewell.
IAMCAMERO AGREED! Just saw her in concert last Friday! PHENOMENAL! Her voice brought tears to my eyes! I haven’t stopped listening to her records since
Anita Baker has the most unique voice I have ever heard. I don't think no one in the world has a voice like hers. And she still sounds good and have not lost the beat
Marsha Campbell Orlando? Dang...wish I had known she was right up the road from me. Did the price of the ticket rape your pocket? I went on line and the lowest price I saw was over $600.
People dont know that Toni's first hit "love should have bought you home" was written for anita but she heard the demo and told babyface to let her keep it...true story, she saw that talent early...elegance personified
Stephon Jackson what difference does it make anyway? This is her farewell tour, all that Talent she has and she's just letting it go down the drain but yet you still have people like Dionne Warwick, Rod Stewart, and Aretha Franklin who sound like TOTAL shit now still performing, Anita Baker seems really selfish
I've loved her since I heard her SING with Chapter 8 in 1979...I was 10, I'm 48 now. I would pantomime the heck out of ALL of her songs...YES ALL OF THEM! SEXY, CLASSY AND FULLY CLOTHED...A LEGEND.
im 36 and remember when i was a kid, my mom would let the windows up in house on a nice spring breezy sat morning, turn that anita record on and up loud....baby, she'd get that mop and vacuum going, get those clothes in washer going, dishes washed, house be smelling good and fresh and of course id be cleaning my room.....cleaning didnt ever seem like "work" when Anita was playing honey!! man those were the days
I have seen her at least 3 times live. There is always an energy of love that resonates from her to the audience. It's two hours of love, intimacy, romance, and sensuality.
Will Rodgers Amen. I pray go God that such is received as I step into my destiny and share my music, my poetry with the world. We have a lot of things in common, as her birthday is the day before mine. She's an amazing example of a REAL singer. Full of passion, warmth, artful delivery, uncompromising individuality, sophistication, class, and raw talent!! Yeah, I want to be something like her when I grow up. 😉
Lara O'neal i dont know bout the lyrics part but they came out at the same time. Whitney went pop and becane the better artist. Seems that baker came out better in the deal. She also quit her career to have and raise her children out of the spotlight-very wise and difft than houston
I've been a professional musician most of my life, sixty years old now. Country, rock, jazz. Anita Baker has always blown me away with her talent. That VOICE!!
"A bunch of old love songs"...these love songs happen to be my teenage and twenties memories and now I'm in my mid to late 40's and I'm still listening!!! I wanna see this fabulous lady so much it's killing me!!! I can only watch what people have seen and put on YT....thank you for this ❤❤❤ I live in Liverpool, UK and I'd love her to come here sometime. I've been listening to her from as far back as I can remember and I think I'm just gunna keep on listening 👂👂👂I KNOW EVERY SINGLE SONG SHE HAS RELEASED!!! Love you Ms Baker xxxxxx
Me too sis,I was a teenager lady in the 1980s when I fell in love with her song Angel. And I was in my early 20s in the early 90s listening to her music and I still have my Cassettes song in the 90s of the Elegant Ms.Anita Baker.
@@lastdays3148 me aswell😊I grew up in London and she was there in the background ..I wish I could see her in concert..am in 40 ' s now..There's nothing like her voice
I used to work security venue in California, and worked so many of her concerts until she knew our names and faces, hell we started calling her aunt Anita, and she would always say how r my babies doing, so many wonderful memories of her!!
So good to see an Icon from my late 80's and 90's era sounding fantastic and looking equally as good...no tragic story here just a life being well lived with balance......and to think we are the same age and Anita I am doing the same....with God's blessing
Robin Brown I agree she does lead a balanced life, not all about $$ or work , plus she seems to have saved and invested well. No ridiculous plastic surgery, I gained weight so what! Deal with it ! Took time off to raise her sons and look after ailing parents. We will always have her music and if she gets bored maybe she'll hit the studio or do a show here and there, but if not then girl go ahead and enjoy your retirement , it's what we work for. I don't like to see performers work forever like Aretha and Patty are doing. But to each their own.
I've always loved Anita Baker. That incredible voice and she just seems like a classy lady. I think what really drew me to her is the fact she looks so much like my late mother who couldn't sing a lick but was also a very classy lady. 😁
Her expertise in singing is like no other! she definitely a diamond in the ruff... please make Detroit your finale concert! please!!!!! We love you here in the "D" Team Anita Baker!!!
Starlet Lee no, she was born in Toledo Ohio and when she was 2 years old her mother abandoned her and she was taken in by her foster parents who died when she was 12 years old and her foster sister raised her from then on. she lives here and we claim her because she loves us and we love her. she is a true Detroiter to the heart!❤
Sonia Shields wow! I dont remember that part of her history. Im so glad someone took her in. We do love her and are thankful we can share her love and music. Thanks for sharing!
I was in the front row at this concert and it truly was the most awesome concert experience I ever had seeing my favorite singer up close performing. Queen Anita was absolutely fabulous that night. She looked terrific and her voice was fantastic. She sounded so good. It was 2 hours of being on Cloud 9 for yours truly. She is a precious gem, a living legend who I admire and love completely!!
I'd personally rather hear old love songs from this timeless legend as she's keeping it simple and engaging than see a bunch of wannabes try to outdo themselves on stage with stunts and stage props.
She is mesmerizing. I'm just listening with my mouth hanging open. It's rare when a singer sounds better or just as good live. Can't wait for her to come to Atlanta. I've loved her since I was a little girl.
Mrs. ANITA BAKER. Looking gorgeous. And still sing beautiful music .I will always be one of her biggest fans. My family and I. Still have cassettes of Anita Baker music. We all love Mrs Baker and her family. God bless you Anita Baker and your families. Thanks for sharing.
Anita Baker has been my all time Favorite singer. I grew up with her when I was married, when I divorced then when I raised my boys. It was Anita Baker, Sade and Motown in the morning in the evening and totally through my weekend. Me and Anita's singing took me through some sad, happy and beautiful times. She's the BEST!!!!!

This rocker got the smooth jazz bug from miss Anita baker. She is one of the very best of all time. Been listening 30 plus years. Seen her first time on 1980s friday night videos. Still have the vcr tapes. If you do not like full time retirement comeback. We the fans will still be listening.
Out Partying Year's Ago At A Small "Bar" with a "Jukebox" played this song (15x's, cost a quarter) and the "bartender" gave me back my money and said "Everyone Knows You R In Love"!!! Great memories 🥰🥰💖💖
Thank you for posting this . I’m 29 and always felt like an old soul listening to her music , which I do everyday . My dad used to play her music endlessly thanks to cd 101.9 in nyc . The nostalgia brings tears to my eyes.
MY GIRL!! I have been a fan of Anita's since I was 8...She use to sing with Chapter 8 and her voice still sounds so amazing!! I saw her in concert once back in 1994 and she was great! Thank You so very much for showing us her talent, and letting us hear that wonderful voice again! We LOVE YOU, ANITA!!
Tawana Hawkins don't think that way. My brother is also on wheels & we go to all kinds of concerts. I'll carry him to his seat to enjoy great music!!!!
I was there sitting a bit further back. She sounded sooooooo good!!! And she looks great. The day Anita Baker dies is the day somebody will have to slap the f&@k out of me.
Yessss You Got That Damn Right My Sister I Can Say The Same Thing Shyyyyt Wouldn't Know What To Do Especially When Luther Pass Just Beautiful Made Music To Live For Future Generations 😊
Ms Anita Baker has caused me to shed "happy tears" hundreds of times. I can't hold back even if I had the will to do so. Her song "Just Because"? That is my song to my daughter....it played on the day she was born and I knew that she was the most important thing to ever happen to me. There I was... doing things I never thought I'd do...changing diapers, giving her the 2 AM feedings, having her fall asleep on my chest and feeling so blessed. There is just something about Ms Baker's voice, her mannerisms and passion that plays on my inner emotions like a Stradivarius violin. She embodies what a real woman is to me and she has endured so much and came out standing tall. I also have it on good authority that she is no "diva" and is as "down to earth" as it gets. You could say that I have had a crush on her since 1986. Good on ya, Ms Baker! You sound sooooo good to this ol Texas boy!
Good gosh this woman can SAAANNNNG! I would pay some money to hear those vocals and these priceless rnb hits! Real music and a vocalist that can tear it up. Priceless!
Lindíssima diva parabéns tempos que não volta mais obrigado pela suas músicas e sua existência nesse mundo que todos nois aprendemos a amar Deus te ilumine Vagner BRASIL.com muita admiracao
No one no one in this world will ever be able to sing like a black women...scream if they want this soul is only birthed in the black women...I love you for the joy in song you brought me Anita....Have great enjoyment in your retirement......!
Wow! Whoever Anita's Alto is on background vocals is RAZOR SHARP!!! Ms Baker has always been a class act! Been in and out of love to her music she remains the same like a picture in a frame.

I love this lady when she first came out with sweet love was the first time that I ever heard of her and I fell in with her voice and her style. Anita Baker please come back to New York, We love You.
