Good video, some good points, but I respectfully disagree. I bought this just to give it a try. After using Assistant through my phone in the car since it was released and not expecting much of the Roav, I was really surprised by how well this works. It is more like having a Google home in your car. It picks up the wake word way better than any phone while driving, over road noise, and while music is playing. You are correct that auxiliary port eliminates delay and also that call quality isn't the best, but for having assistant in the car, it really does beat your phone - and I'm currently in the Pixel3 XL with a Note 8 as my backup. Either way, thank you for taking the time to make the video!

I appreciate the input, I love hearing different points of view and other user experiences when it comes to the devices. I really appreciate you taking the time to watch it and letting me know what your experience was with the roav. Thanks for watching and especially for commenting!

This charger port is in the worst place for this.

Since the Roav Bolt is leaning downward, it may not work as well as it should. It's microphone works better then the one on your phone. It works well in this person's older Honda Accord that doesn't have bluetooth: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KyTn9k1ZRLA.html

Hey so when you do a phone call through the ROAV, does it use your phone microphone or does it use the microphone on the ROAV?
@fog561
@fog561 5 лет назад
It uses the microphone from the Roav, think of the Roav as a link between your vehicle's Bluetooth/aux and your phone. The Roav will be the interface and it will use the phone to access google assistant and the car speakers to broadcast.

@@fog561 Okay that's great, thanks. I find people can never hear me properly on speakerphone in the car and I don't really want a Bluetooth headset so this may be the answer if it sounds any better on the other end than my phone does

Im sure the Roav is not using BT 5.0. which could be the culprit to the delay/latency. BT 4.2 and lower have latency issues. Ive been using BT 5.0 and there is virtually no latency. I'll never go back to BT 4.0.
@fog561
@fog561 5 лет назад
You are absolutely correct, this is running bluetooth version 4.2 NOT 5.0, I think you are dead on with that observation...really appreciate the comment. Thanks

Does your car need to have Bluetooth already or does this add it to your car
@fog561
@fog561 5 лет назад
The car does not need to have bluetooth but it will need an AUX input jack to access your car's speakers. The anker device will not add bluetooth to the car, it will just work as an accessory that can access your phones Google assistant and use your car speakers to broadcast. The device can connect thru bluetooth or aux input. Thanks for watching

Question. What if your car radio already has blue tooth. Does it by pass that, or work with both. Can you use dual Bluetooth on this
@fog561
@fog561 5 лет назад
No, it needs to pair bluetooth with your vehicle and then you have to pair your phone w the anker roav. It's using your Google assistant on your cell phone to perform functions and broadcasts on your car speakers
@fog561
@fog561 5 лет назад
I also forgot to mention that you can not pair it with 2 bluetooth connections Each time you connect to a new bluetooth connection , you must first reset the roav and delete the old bluetooth pairing. Only one bluetooth source allowed to pair.

@@fog561 so basically it really wouldn't benefit someone like me then? My car uses it's built in Bluetooth to connect to my Samsung Galaxy Note 9 to make phone calls.
@fog561
@fog561 5 лет назад
@@DeadmanInc336 I don't think it would be to your advantage. I think you are better off connecting directly to your phone's bluetooth and having access to everything your phone can do. Thanks for the comment.

Does it needs wifi to work?
@fog561
@fog561 5 лет назад
No, it needs to be able to connect to your phone via bluetooth and connect to your car speakers thru bluetooth or aux input.
