Too bad they don't tell you the price, and you can't buy it separately. You can only get it through their certified installer network.

Its a really different model and for those of us used to regular power stations it likely isn't a good fit. But I think there are others that don't want to touch a system themselves and just use it and thats where this type of one could be helpful.

I don't mind the certified installer requirement since I'd never be the one to install it, but, yeah, it would be nice if they at least said each battery pack costs $x and the minimum configuration with the following items will cost $y. I'm looking to get a Generac or Kohler generator (powered by propane), and I know that's gonna cost me some bucks.

So I have the Solix f3800, and it can work without internet because it would switch off WiFi to Bluetooth. This issue continues to be that ONLY ONE USER CAN SIGN IN AT A TIME! It’s incredibly annoying because if The Missus wants to check the battery state, it signs me out. Also, it lacks some features that the competitors already have. Granted firmware updates *could* bring those features in, but that’s only a “could”. I see no reason why this would be any different. I’m sure the hardware is going to be fine (my F3800 is great) but I can guarantee the app/software control is going to be lacking.

Thanks Chris. Good to know it's out there. I follow the old saying, don't buy the first model year. I'd also want to see a long term use review before buying. I'v seen Tesla Power Wall reviews about just using the Power Wall not line power. The Tesla didn't last very long for a small So Cal family, 1100 sqft house with car charger. Limitations arrgg.

This can be wise, as you know I show a lot of Ecoflow products and currently that's what have in my own house. They are now on their 3rd generation. It's exciting to see Anker getting into this space and this product may end up fantastic but as you say only time can tell that. But I didn't want to not show this and check it out with the opportunity. But the system has been returned to them.

I’ve been debating whole house power to get coupled with my solar. I want to be 100% self sustainable if needed, and the only way to avoid blackouts is home battery units. Our electric rates here are dumb (no metered rates) and solar obviously gets sold to the utility at a “lower” rate than what we buy for. (We sell to them at 50-60% of our buy cost from utility) I’ve been hoping something “cheaper” comes that will cover my house and future proof me for EV (yes I’m one of those people).

This review was way more helpful than the other ones out there! Do you know if the gas generator hookup for this unit has to be a 240v generator or can it also be a 120v generator?
@SilverCymbal
@SilverCymbal Месяц назад
Thank you, it definitely needs to be 240v. What they didn't have at the time of this video is how the generator will run. Meaning is it auto start somehow or can it be triggered or is just done manually. They would be the only ones that could answer that as I don't have that info.

Is that old fashion? 0:20 "...you can tie in your solar or a battery." Why would I tie in a battery? It has a battery. 03:30 "...it will generate power when rates are the lowest but it will use power when the rates are the highest." Isn't that backward? All great videos.

The pricing is nearly 1000$ per kwh for low consumer end products. That is absolute insanity. There are plenty of Chinese suppliers with extensive documentation and certification selling for the range of 200-300$ / kwh there are even Mexican suppliers for that price. and there are even independent companies in Texas doing it between 300-400$/kwh. Nothing in this product range in my opinion justifies the pricing. The home battery industry has been preyed on and abused by marketeers for too long.. The fact you can buy a Tesla electric vehicle and use that as a home battery, with higher capacity, cheaper than some of their models is absolutely insanity They have some amazing products, but the home battery series are just not some of them.

I'd probably get a quote immediately
@Snerdles
@Snerdles Месяц назад
Sodium batteries may be cheaper but don't have the energy density. Think of something more like a clothes dryer size to get the amount of energy you'd need to backup a house. Sand batteries store heat, not electricity directly. While useful, if you want to convert that back to electricity the losses are going to be huge. Though, if you had a 10000 gallon tank of sand under your back yard do you really care, considering the sheer amount of storage you can have...

@Snerdles
@Snerdles Месяц назад
@@NerfThisBoardGames They may come in the form of server rack batteries, kind of like the EG4's. There is a company called Natron Energy that is already doing something like that, but more for industrial use. Home products in a similar style are probably only a couple years away. The problem is that if you look at their BlueTray 4000 1U battery it's only 0.27kWh. if you got a 48U rack (7 feet tall, like a big fridge) you'd only have 12.9kWh. that's less than 3 EG4's that are 5kWh each and only need a. 12U rack (1.75 feet).

At one minute and twenty six seconds, you show a “WLAN/4G” bung, presumably to connect an external antenna or something, but I was wondering if it has any actual Ethernet connections, as I hate WiFi. At the 1:34 second mark, you show a bunch of RJ45 plugs, but I suspect they for a CANbus of sorts between battery modules, rather than Ethernet. When they initially were talking about this thing, my only recommendation to them was to see if they could make the inverter modules 8kW instead of 6kW each, to remain competitive with Powerwall 3, as the PW3 is the standard to beat for commercial options outside of the DIY stuff of the likes of the EG4 stuff.
@SilverCymbal
@SilverCymbal Месяц назад
I think this model will only support WiFi at this time, yes you are correct the RJ45s are only for inerconnects. While I am glad that Anker is getting into the whole house space, I totally agree that the specs could have been higher. I am also not a fan of the unpublished pricing since it difficult to know the true installed costs. It will be a tough sell for most people, maybe Anker is trying to move too quickly.
@benwhittle7204
@benwhittle7204 Месяц назад
@@SilverCymbal yeah, I mean, I get they cannot just provide a one size fits all install price, but they could provide a unit price of the X1 itself uninstalled, like Tesla does with the PW3, with actual installation/total costs on top being provided at quote time.
@Joe-sg8zp
@Joe-sg8zp Месяц назад
