dressage is actually particularly good for horses because it helps them to become softer and more supple and enables them to build up muscle in the correct places thus preventing any back or muscular problems they could encounter, it is also one of the disciplines where a horse can still perform at any age (within reason and standard :L) :)
So young, I am estonished about the experience you already gained in your short riding life. Where did you learn, tell me, I want to go to the same school or teacher. Maybe they told me something wrong in Vienna, Saumur or Jerez de la Frontera.
International competitions tend more and more toward horse abuse, so competition is not a guarantee for fair riding and fair horsemanship, and Missis Anky Van Grunsven is one of best Rollkur (LDR or Hyperflexion) rider, and her husband/coach is proud to be the inventive genius of the Rollkur.
Horseriding is based on equine knowledge and physical prowess, and not on opinions and imitations of the stars of Dressage (better called Stressage). My concern is to prevent an other horse to be tormented by an ignorant imitator. Its very much hope that at some point, that will change.
That’s right, during my 45 years lasting riding career I learned a lot form famous horsemen, in different riding styles, I had the luck to ride several hundreds of different horses around the world, I had the luck to be a guest apprentice in three famous riding schools, and I’m still riding today. But on the other hand I also met a lot of stupid and silly little girls who thought to be already skilled riding genius.
The main problem at dressage shows is not bad riding, but incompetent or ignorant judges. As long as they reward stressed and struggling horses, instead of a calm and natural dynamic movement, nothing will change, and conflicting signals given by the riders to urge their horses forward with the legs and keep restraining through the bit, will lead a lot more horses to frustration and neurosis.
Around 1880, equerry Paul Plinzner practised overbending a horse, the Rollkur, for the first time. He did it on behalf of German Emperor Willhelm II, who was born with a crippled left hand. The Rollkur gave him the possibility to ride as well, but this method was already disapproved at that time. In the early 80ies, German dressage riders chose this method to gain more control over their vivacious horses. Than came Sjef Janssen, who called it a training system.
Well, I explained in my comments why it is abuse, and I don't think it is abuse, I know it is abuse because it has been scientificly proven that it is abuse. I shall continue to attack superficial knowledge because horses are routinely subjected to relentless pressure from inconsistently applied aids, forced into extreme frame and pushed beyond their physical and mental capacity. Maybe I preserve another horse to be tormented by an ignorant imitator.

The FEI is in dire straits. Over 50 years horse abuse has been admitted and rewarded with high scores. To stay credible they estimate horse abuse as -cases of minor violations or contraventions committed unintentionally- and without significant sanctions for the rider. -Verbal warnings- are all that officials feel it necessary to issue against riders. But who cares...? as long as the fan community of the top riders is enthusiastic.

@sammisoccer7 Look at the tail of Salinero. It is whipping everytime Anky does something. This horse isn't happy. And if you see the pictures how he is trained you know why.
Yano its actually gas how some of ye go on about how someone should tell her shes wrong with how she trains yet i dont see any of ye trying 2? All talk ye are.....when ye have as many international competitions under yer belts like this amazing woman does then maybe ye could even start 2 consider critising her?

Hey, I'm really not impressed by your words. And by the way, I wasn't saying you were wrong. What I do mean, is that it doesn't have to always be rollkur to get the to foam. For my horse does it also really quick without riding her even close to the rollkur. And by the way, how long have I been riding? With your amazing experience you must know that by just talking to me, right?
hihi i like you, the guy is talking about how much he knows. But i do exactly the same with my horse as you do and she still foams too. Let him think he's awesome, we know he's deadly wrong ;)
What a beautifully ridden horse , uphill ,balanced and forward , whatever the training techniques it is obviously working , the horse is super happy and wanting to do his job so based on how well the horse is going , how old in years he carried on competing (and improving ) and accompanied with the riders huge international success she must be doing something very well , maybe rather than people criticising the should watch this rider in ore and learn something ! The results speak for themselves !
The only thing I have to say is that the music was a little off sometimes, though that could just be the quality of the video. But all in all, I really enjoyed watching (and listening to) this test. Great job on the rider's part, a gorgeous horse and such lovely music!
@RizismyBaby listin if she was so bad then tell me why she won,.. you cant make no judgment of her style and riding cause she will always be the nbr 1 in the world !!!!!! with worldrecord !!!! read wiki before you say anything bad about her!!!!!! you can NEVER EVER fill up her possison and i don't like what you say about her !!!!!!!!! She is the best
@aerzte91 if a swishing tail means a horse is unhappy then ur saying that all dressage horses arent happy becaus they all swish their tails like that.....
