Anna Griffin Empress Mini, Cut and Emboss Folders, and Dies Review! Basic Sandwich Info! 

I have severe arthritis and I love the Empress. I gave all my machines that use a handle away to younger individuals who either homeschooled or had an interest in Art. Anna Griffin makes a wonderful product.

Thank you so much for not only the review but the tutorial. I JUST picked this up off of a FB group (it was quite a steal of a deal!!!) and I wasn't sure how to work the plate system, if it was worth the money and if I should even spend the low amount that I did. Your review / tutorial told me that I should and it came in today. I cannot be more thrilled with it as I had previously been working with my Big Shot and this is quite a step up from that. Thank you for all of your reviews. I'm an avid watcher of all of them!

Thanks so much for sharing. I just finished watching and I saw you using the narrow Trimmings Scallop Border Cut & Emboss Folder. I bought the same thing. When I saw that it didn't emboss properly, I got a little nervous. I have the Gemini Jr. and immediately put it though the machine and it embossed perfectly with just the folder and the two plates on Recollections 65 lb paper. If you're having problems embossing perhaps you should get an exchange because there may be something wrong with it. But, I was glad to see it cut and embossed perfectly for me. I'm loving your videos and just subscribed. You're showing us real world stuff with what we would be doing. Much appreciated.

Great video, thank you! The Empress carrier and cover may be pricey however i ordered one to check the pair out. They are beautifully made and fit perfectly with extra room in the carrier to pack the plates and with room for 8 or so thinlit dies tucked on the side. It was a surprise on the upside in terms of sturdiness however given AG’s high standard for quality, I shouldn’t have been surprised. Thank you, DL

Thank you for demonstrating the mini. Mine will be delivered tomorrow (11/12/19). Dust cover was way over priced! I thought about getting the big Empress and talked myself out of it. 😅. I have a Cricut Air 2 & a Maker I can use for cutting things out plus my craft room is running out of space! I need a craft house!!😄😄. I'm glad I came across your old video. I got the mini out yesterday and she does not want to cut thru dies. I see that happened on 1 of the dies and the embossing could be shimmed too. I want to use her to cut my Stitchmas dies 🎉 I guess I'm going to have to shim her up until she cuts. Maybe I'll cut one of the SB shims to fit her if the metal shim isn't enough 🤔

Hi V! I just found your channel and love your honest in-depth vids! You really got me into Anna Griffin products! I love this mini die cutter- but can’t really justify the purchase- it’s limited to only 4.5” width dies when the full size empress cuts that size and larger up to 8” or so.. I personally have a vagabond II which also cuts up to 6” width dies- so if I were to justify purchasing the mini - maybe you can shed some light as to why it’s needed- it is so damn cute! I can see myself maybe getting the full size empress because it cuts wider dies than what I am able to do now but do many manufacturers make dies over 6” wide? Thanks so much for all your help! Keep the vids coming. I like reviewers who keep it real!! ❤️

It's hard for me to decide, but I really don't like the fact that you have to hit that run button. That's annoying to me. Is the Gemini auto loading feature patented or something? The technology is there, so why didn't she use it? Just my thought. I would also cut into the magnet and keep the plates clean. It's getting rippled with the design anyway, so I would just replace that one when it gets worn. I am using an OLFA cutting mat in place if my plastic shim in my Gemini jr. and after hundreds of cuts, I'm still using the same mat and my plates are as clean as new and no warping. It has been over 3 months and it's still going strong.

I just got mine today ,too..got to cut about 4 dies with it and I didnt have to push at all like Anna did ....it went thru like butter, altho I only got to try her couple dies I bought, but the fretwork one does not fit on her magnetic mat...just like the big magnetic mat,I will have to add another strip of magnet. the hole to take the die thru is big enough ,but she skimps on the magnetic width ....I actually added a strip of magnet to her big magnetic sheet to fit some large dies thru the empress... it worked great !!

I don’t have both myself but I don’t want to get both ha so which one would you suggest to buy? I can’t decide which one !

First, I love the end card music because it made me smile. Second, V, you always do a great job reviewing how a product works with tips & tricks. The long embossing folders maybe aren't a great purchase? And the dust covers are priced ridiculously. We all know that you can create something better.

GEE, YOU GOT YOURS FAST. MINE IS STILL IN TRANSIT. THIS IS BETTER THAN THE GEMINI MINI WHICH IS A MANUAL MACHINE. I WAS THINKING ABOUT GETTING THOSE EMBOSSING FOLDERS WITH THE DIES INSIDE BUT AFTER SEEING HOW POORLY THEY EMBOSSED, I AM GLAD I PASSED ON THEM.

Im so happy i came across this vidio as i wasted my money on a machine thats quite bulky and big.i find it doesnt cut through 4 layers of foamerin.but this mini is great.how much is it? And do you have a link? So when one of your dies didnt cut all.did you just add a piece of card to bulk it out at back?? Thank you and are you uk 🇬🇧 or u.s.a

Awesome video you can also cut down A self healing mat and use it between the two plates and never ruin your plates or buy or replace plates ever again works awesome I tried it already just an idea if you want to try it

I have the Gemini and LOVE IT!! I don't like the fact that you have to hit start each time on the mini. Also the machine doesn't stop running till you take the plates out. Thanks for the demo on the cut and emboss borders. That didn't emboss very well. Glad I didn't get them. Happy Crafting!

Ma’am, you’re going to get me into a lot of trouble with my hubby! 😂 😂😂😂 I have literally bought all sorts of stamps, cut and emboss folders, pens, Gemini junior, foil press thingy, etc. I even put that it was a gift so if hubby asked me, it’s a gift. would 3D embossing folders from other companies work with these machines?

Ok ladies I’m ready to pull the trigger and buy but…… will it handle the thick 3D folders? The one it came with seemed thin. That’s a deal breaker for me. Has anyone tried one in their machine? Thanks in advance.

Oh, i am bummed! I really wanted to watch and comment as soon as you posted, but I was watching right before bed and I fell asleep 8 minutes in. But this is such a cute machine, man I would love something like this if it was sold in Europe. The only two things I would have hoped, was that the frame embossing folder was a die, it would have been so pretty if it has some cutouts on the frame too, and I would like the edge one to be in two sizes so you could make a top edge without having to but most of the spikes shape away. I heard someone say that of the paper is thinner you can add another ate or something like that to add pressure and get a better emboss

What is the difference between the difference between the empress embossing plate to the Gemini embossing plate? I bought Anna Griffin dies and cut my Gemini embossing pad into. Any help would be appreciated

That is bad that the Empress Mini does not cut the whole intricate die. I always use my metal shim on intricate dies. Let’s hope that is the answer. I did not pick it up. I do use my regular Empress all the time. I never use my Big Shot any more.

Looks to me, like there is a lot of extra room on either side of the plates as you feed the plates through. I fell like they could have given us a 4.5 set of plates.

I didn’t bother with the dust cover either!
