Just clicked; haven't even watched this yet, and I just need to say-- YAY!! Out of all of the decks constantly being added to the collection, this is absolutely one of my favs! If it weren't for this deck, I'd still be hard-core struggling after 5 years of trying to understand tarot. There's something about the Anna K that simply allows you to let go and just SPEAK. My 9yo son likes this one, too. We do tarot story time, where I pull out 5-7 cards, let him arrange them in any order he wants, and he tells me a story based off of what he sees. It has DRASTICALLY improved his imagination since we started last year, and the hope is that he's picking up intuitive skills along the way. Thank you for this! (Ok...gonna watch it now ❤️)

Thank you so much, Lisa, for this fun and insightful tour through the Anna.K Tarot. I appreciate you sharing -- it's a favorite deck of mine, too! I started with the mass-market deck, and then I recently heard that the the indie version is still available on the creator's website. I purchased the indie version to show support directly to the creator of a deck I love dearly, and the added bonus is that the indie cards are fabulous! (Plus, Anna is such a lovely person!) The indie cards are smaller than the mass-market cards (but larger than playing cards), and their thinner borders are color-coded by suit, which is a beautiful feature. The titles of the indie cards are unobtrusively incorporated into the images instead of being in the bottom borders as in the mass-market cards. The indie cardstock is thicker and seems sturdy, but is still wonderful to shuffle. And the indie cards have a nice matte finish -- they do not have the slight reflective sheen of the mass-market version. Another difference I've noticed is that the images in the indie version are slightly darker than the mass-market version, so deeply shaded cards like Justice and The Moon might be a bit more difficult to see in a low-light environment. Finally, the indie deck comes in a gorgeous black two-piece box with a full guidebook inside -- the wording differs slightly in places from the mass-market guidebook, but the card descriptions are almost exactly the same. I have the indie version of the deck and the cardstock is very stiff. I love it though because it's a bit smaller, more like a pocket sized deck, and doesn't have words on the minors, it's got a little symbol (sword, cup, wand, pentacle) with the number really subtly in the corner. Something interesting I noticed for the first time while you were flipping through are the different metals used in the crowns/armor for the different court cards. Gold is used for the pentacle and wands and I view gold as a very active and external metal; and its warm, exactly like the wands should be. It's also a color similar to the sun, which drives the wands and allows the pentacle to grow. Then silver for the swords and cups. Silver is cooler toned metal and it ties more into the moon/intuition for the cups and for the cold, logic of the swords.

Always love your deep dives! I got the Anna K when first starting at your recommendation. I went through all my beginner decks and created my dream team -cards with images that help me remember the meanings. There are more cards from this deck and The Light Seers’s than any of my other decks. When I’m feeling stuck with a card in another deck, I have my dream-team deck in my mind to help with meanings.

Love this deck, it was one of my firsts! I have the independent version from back in the day and I find the card stock thicker and more durable than the mass market version. As always, thank you for the work you do and all the great walkthroughs!

That's one of my favorite decks and it was my third purchase. I edge it in black and like it doesn't chip, it looks brand new, you should try it!

This 5 of cups actually has 5 upright cups, which I love, with one up top and four behind him with one at the edge of the card. It looks like the broken cups are ancient, like he’s crying over looooong ago spilled milk. Love it.

I have the indie version as well as the Lenormand - they play well together, and both are still available from the creator. I like the original card stock well enough - it has a bit of a cardboard-like quality but not in a bad way. It's decent and a bit thicker than the MM edition and feels quite sturdy though not very flexible. I also like the size of the indie version - it's 2.75 x 4 inches which makes it a good deck to have in your purse or while traveling, and when using in larger spreads.

Thank you for your perception of this deck. This is the deck I have chosen to work with for the year. Yes, I will use other decks, but this is going to be my main deck. My word of the year is simplify, and I felt this deck encompasses my word of the year. I feel like it is striped down and back to the basics.

I don’t own this deck. I really liked how on all the cards, instead of a knight or Queen just showing a standing figure, or shows the action of that card. I may pick this up. I think it would strengthen my knowledge of tarot cards and shows perspectives I hadn’t thought of before. Thank you Lisa! 🌟🌟🌟

*sigh* Enjoyed this deep dive, and there's a lot to love about this deck, but I just can't with that 5 of Swords, with the scene making it clear that those children are about to be slaughtered. :( :( :( It moves the whole deck away from an enchanted world where I'd like to visit and more toward a Game of Thrones nightmare reality. Super upsetting and far removed from how heartlessness shows up in my life. So I have it removed, and I'm trying to make peace with using it as a 77 card deck...or I'll pass it along *shrug* Thanks for the content Lisa!!

I have a problem with how specific this card is, too. It’s just not how I read this card, but the imagery is so specific that it’s hard to read beyond it.

I love this deck, too, and I love listening to your insights. I feel the Empress looks a bit tough because she's a figure of love and authority at the same time, and it's difficult to depict both. She also looks very protective to me. Cross her at your own risk. The Chariot is not Icarus but Phaeton imo.

Yay! I am so glad that you did this deep dive! I had bought the Anna K several years back and did my 1st declutter and gifted her 😶. The other day I was thinking that I needed to repurchase this deck and then your video popped up. Needless to say, she's on her way to me. I wonder how she would look with 3 sides trimmed? BTW, is it 4 or 5 cups behind the guy. I feel like it looks like 4 on the ground and one on top of the wall? Thank you as always!☺

The Anna K Tarot is quite possibly my favorite deck. The good news is that Anna K still has decks available for sale on her website. Personally, I far prefer her indie deck over the mass market version, so having to order it from her may be win-win all around.
