@asa bella· the song is literally "murder your dad because i hate him, or i'll hate you too" so it is a little funny that it sounds so sweet, but the singer pulls it off so who cares lol
@@bro-vi1ud You can literally search it here on RU-vid but here you go: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tc-L9_4jGc4.html Also, take note that this is the oldest surviving video out there. Who knows how much older are the ones which didn't survive.
Anna: Hey, I don’t think I’m suitable for this aria, I can’t hit the F... Director: smile! Anna: But this is about a mother trying to force her daughter to commit murder... Director: JUST. SMILE!
A lot of the gals who sing this can’t hit the high F. It doesn’t really diminish from the performance for most audiences. I find it a bit of an added interest to see how those who can’t reach it work around it.
It's good, but it was transposed lower. She had a beautiful voice, but she doesn't have the high Fs this aria requires and she doesn't express the words - it's a vengeance aria when the mother demands that her daughter commit murder, but she sings it for the movie. They didn't care about these details in 1950s movies, they wanted actors to look beautiful and too smile, she probably did what she was asked. In terms of singing, I like her more in an earlier video where she sings Caro Nome - she has all the notes in that aria, and she also really expresses the innocence and feelings of the aria and the character there.
At the end of the day, she was Hollywood's creation and this was the persona they wanted her to have--a pretty girl in a tiny corset, smiling becomingly as she belts out that one opera song that everyone knows about. If it wasn't in her range, they change the key, if it didn't fit the tv time slot, they change the tempo. If the meaning of the song did not fit her sweet and amiable persona, well, they'd just assume nobody knew the words. Albergetti did her job well, she just didn't do the job we wanted her to do.
How is that wrong? Are you one of those, who think that corsets were torture? This is a really great peace with the greatest execution, even if it's about murder. I think it's absolutely great.
@@artdanks4846 This is a great performance in my opinion. I think this is beautiful even knowing the lyrics. This type of dialog could happen with a forced smile. This performance shows it perfectly.
I've been singing for many years, so I also hear that the highest note is a bit wrong, but in general, her manner is much better than that one modern singers have @@terrybrawlstarsaddict
@@theseventhammer Not true. Only the first set. It got much better later on. HOWEVER it was not a good performance because it was much, MUCH, M-U-C-H too fast,. Iremember this from 1955, and was very impressed at age 14. That was before I knew anything about te subtitles in style musical interpretation
I have several different recordings from the late 50’s by a few different soprano’s who chose to end aria this way- personally I think it’s vulgar but it’s a matter of taste really.
Service Notice: Anna Maria Alberghetti is performing :) she is focused on the piece, she is not acting, if you notice she is alone on stage and is dressed in light tones. There is no daughter, there is no scenography :) The essential thing here is to focus on her singing ability as a nightingale
Я себе именно так и представляла мать-ночь) думаю, что во времена Моцарта певицы были такие же молодые и звонкие. И пели они весело и задорно, без современного пафоса и угрюмости.
Diana Damrau is still my favorite Queen of the Night. This singer seems like she's singing in her tub at home. You know, cause bathroom acoustics are so great and all that.
Mom : you must kill him Child : but why? Mom : *smiling* just do it, dear Child : but mom Mom : *smiling* Child : ok mom, your smile scarier than your bulging eyes
No llega a las cuatro notas altas, pero es la versión más dulce de esta canción. Más allá de la letra (dramática), representa mejor la esencia de la música (alegre).
I saw "Carnival!" when I was nine years old, and fell in love with Ms Alberghetti. "Carnival!" is still my favorite musical, with "Beautiful Candy" being a delight for me and my children. I was unaware of these performances prior to "Carnival!", and am so thankful that these have been made available. Stunningly beautiful! The song is good, too.
Согласна, так легко, с улыбкой, отправлять "дочь" на убийство. Никакая техника исполнения не спасет, если нет соответствующего эмоционального окраса...
Are we not going to mention the fact that she isn’t even singing the correct notes? And that she singing her own tune? And that this may as well be a new opera?
It’s smooth, it’s sounds nice Except she can’t hit the highest note every time and changing it to a lower one instead But it is really really good actually, she done a good job I like it
Ela é ótima porém tá longe de ser uma boa Aria, ela não chega em fá maior e não é muito legal cantar sorrindo uma música que é literalmente a mãe tentando convencer a filha a matar o próprio pai, existem interpretações melhores da rainha da noite
Have you heard Diana Damrau's version? Much better tho ❤️❤️❤️ Anna's version here has a few flats in the high notes in the middle tho. Otherwise, she can sing it fluidly and wonderfully despite the flaws. She has amazing breath support here so kudos. ✨
Forget Damrau and try Cristina Deutekom, Roberta Peters and Lucia Popp, then we can talk about it. Alberghetti was not right for this aria, she isn't singing in the right key and doesn't hit the high notes. Also, everyone seems to like the translation, but I am Italian and I think it sounds emberassing (not her fault of course), the best one remains the original German libretto.
I didn't even know that was possible. now I will look down on all renditions of this musical piece. this is like the model version how it should really sound
@@JaneFancher seriously? Difference in era? The piece is over 200 years old. Because this was the '50s it should be excused for misinterpreting the music?
