I am completely transfixed and transformed by the art, musicality and joy of performances by Jonas Kaufman . Our Anglesey opera fan group have been utterly amazed by his perfection in every role and not missed a performance since the Met Parsifal, some year's ago, on screen of course. Though I experience him as a musical god, putting Pavarotti well into the shade, I adore his humanity, honesty and aparent joy of life. Thank you for this extraordinary privilege of being able to listen to this magnificently sensitve 'master of voice' and master of his art, on u tube. Thank you Jonas Kaufman for lightening the darkening days of aging and infirmity and for being you. Sending you a great warmth of feeling and every good wish. Judith Moss/ your Anglesey fan group!

Two unique voices complementing each other beautifully

When you love an opera, you love hearing various stars performing its arias and duets. You crave it. This is one reason opera lovers see/hear the same opera many times. You don't just conclude, "Oh this one did it better than that one." You appreciate, or try to appreciate, what each singer brings to the role.....perhaps in terms of style, interpretation? I LOVE hearing this and thank you for posting it.

Anna and Jonas are the most beautiful couple for La Traviatta, in presence and voices, I love them.

The best thing about Netrebko is that her high notes are always very clear and mesmerizingly pleasant sounding, never squeezed or buzzed. A lot of sopranos on high notes sound really rough and lose the velvety texture so all you hear is a kind of buzz. I have never heard that with Anna. Years ago watched her full Anna Bolena and she was marvelous. Very beautiful sounding voice. And she seems to have full control over the volume on high notes. That speak of excellent technique. The thing is they ALL have one flow or another. the thing with the old and/or dead singers is that people forget that they were all criticized and had their haters too for one reason or another, all had their better days or worse days. But the mind tends to filter out the bad and only remember the good if it so wants to. Which is strange, because even on youtube their are plenty videos that demonstrate their shortcomings, even ones like Correlli or Vickers, or whoever. Plus you suddenly realize that someone like Kaufmann sings more musically than Correlli, oh and btw, Corelli couldn't do a trill in one place and Kaufmann did, or Pavarotti breathed way too often. Domingo didn't bother with a mourned, Correlli botched it, and .. guess what .. you're left with the strange and unexpected concluding that hey, actually Kaufmann is the best in a given aria, after listening to all of them in detail, looking for defects. So then what was all the hype about the older being better?? Who knows. FYI these ergots examples.

Great performance, maybe the best I've heard so far. You can hear and feel the change in dynamics. It is very technical. You can hear the contrast quite clearly. Only real connoisseurs can appreciate this.

This came up on autoplay so I didn't see who the singers were. First I was impressed by the singing-acting of the tenor and then I recognized Netrebko through her timbre. Both are superb and even more so when I then watch it. But the important thing is that they are great singers by sound only - everything else is a PLUS.

I've seen both of these singers live but not together. Both are so phenomenal. I wish the Royal Opera would release this performance on DVD, especially with Dima H. having recently died. It would be wonderful to see him in performance with these two.
