That room was about the same size as the first apartment I rented! I hope since you've been home you have been spoiling Luna with lots of walks and hugs? Looking forward as always to your next installment 😊

Amenities aside, looks like an adventurous hike, that doesn’t appear to cost much! Another great video!

Trekking in Nepal really is very affordable. The only downside are the pricey plane tickets on the trekking seasons... But I guess otherwise it would be too good to be true anyway :)

I can't imagine how you must feel that high up. I have been to 12,000 feet and my legs and feet felt like they were made out of lead. Thanks for sharing some of your life with us.

You have to practice squatting at home then, before heading to Nepal :D

I was in Italy one time. It was my first experience with the holes in the floor for toilets. They also had (for lack of a better term) American style toilets. Where ever we went, I would check out the rooms i.e. toilets before staying.. :-)
@MaiuLunekund
@MaiuLunekund 6 лет назад
We called them squatting toilets and sitting toilets :D There were some sitting toilets on the trail but not many.

Where you surprised by the number of other hikers you ran into? Also how friendly were they? It looks as if they stay to themseves. Love seeing your video's. You are such an open person...no walls. In the US folks put so much energy into projecting an image you rarely see what is below the surface
@MaiuLunekund
@MaiuLunekund 6 лет назад
All of the trekkers I met were really friendly. Of course I didn't talk to all of them and some kept to themselves. But we started to hang out with several other hikers (and small hiking groups) that were trekking with the same pace as us. So many nights in a row we ate dinner together even when we didn't trek together during the day. I am not usually the one stepping up to new people and start talking and I had no problem making new friends on the trail, the others were friendly enough to break the ice :)

You are so right! Spending time there on the trail and seeing the local people being so happy makes you really think how little stuff and "comforts" you really need to enjoy life.

Thanks for informative and entertaining video! What type of sleeping bags were you using (temp ratings) and were you actually able to sleep properly up there? Thanks 😊
@MaiuLunekund
@MaiuLunekund 2 года назад
We had sleeping bags rated around 0 degrees Celsius but we definitely used the blankets the tea houses provided as the temperatures went below freezing at higher altitudes.
@karipintakivi9153

It is not recommended to stay at the High Camp, unless well acclimatised. Most trekkers can safely stay at Thorong Phedi few hundred meters lower, but coming up here risks mountain sickness. Often the people who have slept at Phedi actually get to the Pass faster than trekkers staying higher up here who suffer from AMS in the morning.

Very rustic accommodations, but several steps up from a tent. Did you have a way of knowing how cold the nights were? I imagine that it gets cold quite fast after sunset at that altitude. Stay safe. Cheers.
@MaiuLunekund

It was maybe -10 degrees Celsius when we slept at High Camp. But it was below freezing already at 3500m high

Ah, the squats -- takes me back to my year in the middle of China in the early '90s, as do the very basic accommodations in unheated rooms. A good reorientation to life for spoiled Westerners.

If you are a solo traveler then you have two options 1) There are a lot of other solo hikers out there, too. So most probably you'll meet them along the way and can share a room. 2) The rooms really aren't that expensive (3-6 dollars per night) and you can take a 2-person room just for yourself. I met solo trekkers on the Circuit and they all slept in a two-person room alone. So no problem, just a matter of budgeting :)

I find that is a pity that you have to lock your door at this location.Is there really some thief that high ?? How is the return to reality (back home) ??? Is it worth an video, I wonder ? cheers
@MaiuLunekund
@MaiuLunekund 6 лет назад
I haven't heard about theft on the trail but there is crime in towns and in public transportation. But when in the lodge you will share it with many people and I guess nobody want's to take a chance. Returning back home was of course sad, as it is with every trip you take...

Maiu, how are they heating the main lodge? Looks like you’re above the tree line. Are they burning dung?

Hi Maiu, I love watching your channel, it has definitely reignited my love for hiking. I'm interested in putting some of my hikes here in Australia on film. What camera do you use ? And what editing software? I've watched almost all of your clips and they are well done. Thanks again and Happy Hiking 👍
@MaiuLunekund
@MaiuLunekund 6 лет назад
They were using timber. Also above treeline. I guess they transport it up there the same way with all other supplies (mainly food for the trekkers).
@MaiuLunekund
@MaiuLunekund 6 лет назад
Hi David! I'm using an old Olympus Tough Stylus TG-850 that they even do not produce anymore. But there is an newer version of it TG-870. It's a great water- and shockproof camera but after two years of using it the video quality is going downhill. But it's a great starter camera and you also do not have to worry about ruining it while on the trail! For editing I am using Adobe Premiere software.

Hiker in Estonia I thought you were using a go pro or similar. Well i have a camera very similar to yours. Thanks again. 👍
