My favorite thing about being a poker dealer is coming to RU-vid and watching these types of videos and then trying to identify these tells while I'm dealing (not supposed to stare at players while dealing so I have to be subtle). These 5 tells are on point. Especially the self soothing one. Dealing poker has REALLY helped my game.
do you remember the true poker 3d site from the early 2000s?? I made one deposit $20 and i was up by 8k when i stopped playing there . i played there for 3-4 years. I didnt know how to manage my bankroll and i withdrew money when i shouldnt have . I was a rookie lol ... i still have the shirt they sent me for hitting a royal flush . the characters in the game all had there own sayings it was super fun . i wish someone would open a 3d site again like that . If i had the software i would open the site myself.
for me, I spot bluffs based on situations, not physical tells. In other words, so often, bluffs take place on the river after a donk misses his flush or open ender. He or she then doesn't know what to do, doesn't want to expose their miss, so they default to bluffing. This is especially true for those holding AK or AQ. They often will bluff the missed flop, turn and river. Other huge tell of a bluff is when nobody bets the flop or turn, but then suddenly fires out a big bet on the river that makes no sense - they're typically bluffing in that situation. Lastly, those who bluff typically try it often, so when you catch someone bluffing, expect him or her to do it again, especially if they're on tilt or are new to your table
I love how these pros make these videos on poker tells that were relevant in the 70's, but don't mean shit now since everyone knows about them and manufactures them whenever possible. Pros aren't going to tell you their real secrets if they have any. Most of the successful tells I've gotten from other players I got from studying their neck, chest, and hands, not their eyes.
So true. And the kids playing now are just so good at the classic "poker face", keeping everything neutral, their face, their language, their body motion.
Everyone doesnt know about them dude . i am a pro i didnt know about these tells . i study for multiple hours a day so dont be fooled. I have seen tells given off by seasoned pros that are super obvious . I like to study the players when i watch them play on live feeds. Looking for tells . Also not all poker players are on youtube looking for vids about poker tells . I learned a couple of tells in this vid. They will all work vs old man coffee and recs who are just drunk and playing loosely
@@Shanethe420lb_Rat If you're a pro and don't already know about these tells, I would assume that you play predominantly online, and not live. I'm a slightly above average amateur *at best* and these tells have been obvious to me and most of the folks I play with for a long time. Maybe some may consciously choose not to observe them?
Annie is a real smart and cute cookie! I really like the way she talks. She is down to earth and she comes off as shy and really great to get on with. She is a excellent poker player too. She's had a few good tournaments in her earlier years. My vote is a "thumbs up"!
My #1 Poker Tell (against players who don't know well enough to send out reverse tells): When they are in a pot and their actions are out of the ordinary from the way they usually act while involved in a pot. Then you have to figure out if it means they're weak or strong.
Sometimes you can tell a player has a really poor hand in life if they retire for 10 years after consistent accusations within the family of cheating people out of millions of dollars.
I have watched poker for a number of years on tv. Annie looks amazing in this video. Be nice some of you. This is the best I have saw her, and her look has gotten prettier over the years. thats actually a very smart response back in the day i lived by caros poker tells nowadays most of the shit is used against me so to many reverse reverse tells going on lol ohh man i miss the old days
A lot of "tells" can be used for spotting lies/truth as she stated, in any situation. We all have involuntary gestures. Problem is, there are multiple reasons for some of the same gestures.
reading someone is very unreliable, people can't tell if someones bluffing apart from anyone else. Even FBI and CIA agents cannot distinguish if someone is lying or not any better than the average person.
well no, there are people who can read others like books. however, if the mark knows they are being watched, with knowledge on the subject they can send mixed signals or just stone face it. but yeah, i agree, making bets on people's body language is not smart play. (of course reading your opponent is a necessary part of poker)
This kind of stuff is good to know, so that I know what idiots might think about me when for example I'm blinking furiously trying to get my contact lens to pop back in or something.
I use the pursed lips tell to get people to pay me off, when I got DA NUTS!.. LOL.. I'm real subtle, though, I'll just purse one side, when, what looks like a bad card, but really isn't, comes off, say on the river, and then I move all in.. It never fails.. I'll also admit, the sitting up in your chair thing was a bugaboo of mine, for a while, but I noticed it fairly quickly and corrected it.. Tells are really about information not adding up.. Bluffs need to be carefully constructed..
Uninsightful people are complaining... Look, the advice itself is a meta-bluff. The reliable income comes from naive, novice and gullible players. This is very good advice for them so the rest of us can beat them.
Every tell that most of these pros talk about are always bluffing tells. Why is every tell a bluff tell. People aren't always bluffing or not bluffing. Its more complicated than that.

lookaguru i know lol. Some people blink when they have a good feeling ffs,, blinking means shit unless you know that person well and know thats what he/she does. Most people cant work themselves out never mind work someone else out,, which takes more that 2 minutes ffs. Annie duke paid to sell bullshit, same with all these cheating pros.
So now we know the tells use then in reverse and clean up. i.e if I have a strong hand and want to pretend I'm weak I'm gonna blink rapidly letting the fool think I'm weak.

@BlackMasterJoe89 You've basically hit the nail on the head. All these tells are basically relative to a player's baseline behavior. Eg...don't use blinking tells on Negreanu. :)

lol, if I'm playing against her and I'm not bluffing, I'm doing all those things. I'm betting she knows this too and this is all sort of a joke to her.
