As a film enthusiast that just wants to watch more movies and who's heard a lot of great things about Woody Allen's and Roman Polanski's films; I learned to separate the art from the artist. Now Chinatown and Annie Hall are two of my favorite films of the 70s.

Such a tricky subject separating creators from the work they produce, definitely a conversation worth having though. I have to admit, I find it a little easier with films considering they represent an amalgamation of an entire crew’s work. Still, can’t deny Annie Hall is simply wonderful. - Andy H

@@AndyAndIFilmClub Also a very good point that heard a lot about during the Oscar season when it came to Bohemian Rhapsody, though I didn't think it deserved any awards even best actor or sound mixing, but the nominees' chances shouldn't be diminished because of Brian Singer's allegations.

Of course. you’re watching a film about something entirely separate to him as a person. It’s like if an artistic photographer took a neutral headshot of you but they were a serial killing maniac should that reflect negatively on the headshot of you? of course that’s a super simplified roundabout way of saying things but perhaps you will understand and see the double standard i’ve tried to identify. Good, proper art to my minds should always transcend the artist.

Hopefully I'll be able to get Heat this weekend so I can rewatch it and be prepared for the next episode.

I'm finding it pretty interesting that you are watching many of these older films for the first time, appears as though you fellers hadn't dug into too many of the classics until starting this channel? :Edit: Heat is damn good, made a fair bit better if you have a decent surround sound setup.

We love classic cinema but we both have our lists of shame so a big motivator behind making this channel was to start reducing those lists! We try to mix in a healthy amount of stuff we’ve seen and stuff that’s brand new to us. This year in particular, I’ve drafted up a big list of films I’ve been putting off so you’ll see plenty of them on here in the coming weeks :D - Andy H

@@AndyAndIFilmClub OK, that makes sense. It makes for an interesting perspective on many of them at any rate. Cheers

@@AndyAndIFilmClub I could probably spam up your comments with recommendations (and I might), but for now, how about Sorcerer. It's one I overlooked for far too long, another 1977 release.

The reviewer with the beard always seems to have more of a recency bias for sure. I think Annie Hall is one of Allen's most accessible films.

I’m sorry, but it was so uninteresting to listen to you two talk about this movie. Your comments were so glib, and then add to that your accents, which are struggle to understand, and I stopped watching before it reached the full 11 minutes.
